Sorry for your loss brother. My cousin Patrick was killed on his 5th combat deployment to Afghanistan for the US Army as a Army Ranger. They had been out on a combat patrol and heading back to their very very remote COP when the lead vehicle hit an IED and immediately came under heavy small arms fire and RPG fire and they said my cousin was on his 2nd or 3rd run to try and get his buddies out of the lead vehicle that had been completely destroyed from the blast before he was hit and killed before reaching his injured buddy and a ANA Soldier who both survived except for my cousin. His wife just gave birth to his first born child a little girl the day before he made the ultimate sacrifice. He was the 2nd or 3rd person in my family and bloodline that have been killed in the service of our country. But the one thing that my cousin always told us is that “if in-fact I do make the ultimate sacrifice while on a deployment I will die doing what I love and I will die with my boots on and will go out surrounded by the greatest group of the most badass American Warfighters on the planet. So don’t cry for me because I gave my life doing what I loved.” He was the epitome of what a Army Ranger was 110%. His older brother my other cousin who was also a Ranger with multiple combat deployments all over the world. He was a Ranger first and then he kept climbing the SF Ladder. But again man I’m sorry for the loss of your brother who made the ultimate sacrifice for the people of y’all’s country! Thank You for your service and thank you for your friends service and may he forever Rest In Peace. 🇺🇸🇩🇪🇺🇸🇩🇪

In the Bhagavad Gita, the conch shell is blown just before the war- its reverberation can place you in that 'dichotomy' if you know the meaning of the finality of 'laying down your life'. But the way this trumpet was played- anyone can now relate- without even needing to understand the historical and religious significance of such a sound.
This song has so much meaning . Thank you Kiffness for putting this together . Makes me proud to be a daughter of a man who was an army medic , to take care of the wounded and the lost . A big thank you to the SGT. that did the lyrics with his platoon , you guys were great , and thank you for your service . God bless .

He was martyred during an ambush attack in Afghanistan , but he saved his comrades or brothers in uniform as they say in army ... he was 22 ... I had a drill at Ft Knox that was God placed on this earth to call cadence...I swear. A hard, raspy toned older black man, Sergeant First Class pushing retirement, a "Hell on Wheels" Dessert Storm tanker...that had more tank kills under his belt than most people alive today combined. The dude sung his cadence in perfect step, and with the soul of his service and hardships. One of the best people I have ever met in my 33 years alive on this earth. Stuff like this digs those memories up in us...thanks for that. Not much makes us smile.
This hit me really hard. I loved the amalgamation of the instrumentation with the metronomic cadence of the drill sergeant. Coupled with the brutally honest lyrics, which forced me to imagine what the young soldiers were thinking, created a dichotomy that held my emotional attention.
Yeah, the lyrics are jarring on purpose. They have to get these young recruits used to the brutal realities of Army life and war (including their own mortality) from the get go.
Yeah, you can start acting like an infantryman after you accept the fact that you are already dead. You no longer fear death, for you are already dead, you will stay calm under pressure, you will do your job quickly, and efficiently, these cadences are among the first steps a troop takes down the road to becoming a killer, which is exactly what the fundamental job of soldiering is.
Beat is timed with the left foot, same as command orders (watch as he commands the platoon to turn left. Preemptive command, then execute command, both given on the left foot). Always
This one went right through my heart with happy and sad feelings at the same time. Mr. Kiffness, thank you for your part in trying to make to world a happier place. You are part of my daily happiness nowadays. ❤

Hey man, big fan. You might not see this but I literally pulled over on the side of the road to write this. This song made me remember all my buddies in my first platoon when I got to my infantry unit. It made me miss my guys, some of whom ive lost contact with. Anywho, this song really hit me and I apprciate it so much. It makes me remember how much I DID NOT KNOW what I was getting into, and experiencing it all first hand with the man to your left and right. The echoing makes me picture my guys and I starting a long march down a tunnel, not knowong what our 4 years would bring us. Stone, Miller, Yee, Ngo, Martinez, Beatty And the rest of you guys, miss all of you guys.
these names at the end... sound like the names from some typical army movie. Always someone who's a latino, and the other ones.... kinda seems like a good writing prompt for a book hah

I was in AIT when I first heard this cadence. At first I was pumped up, and as we continue marching I had to hold back my tears. Couldn’t stop thinking of my wife and 2 kids back home.
@lord tachanka - women in the military have no foundation for feeling any emotions related to actually “serving” in the military. Their presence is unnecessary, their insistence on inequality of responsibility, inequality of physical fitness requirements, and most importantly inequality of disciplinary action makes them a tax burden and quite frankly an ally of the enemy! Their existence is based on a combination of pc woke ideology, manipulative daughters of commanding officers, and male se*ual Amazon battleb*-ch fantasy. Most woke civilians have zero understanding of exactly how deplorably and dishonorably these femwarriors actually behave!! They would make veteran New York prostitutes blush!
