My husband found a military ring and it took him a few years to find the owner. He researched at the veterans museum in our state and found a list of men who served in the regiment and then from there narrowed it down to men who lived in the area. The ring was finally returned to his wife.
When I was 16 way back in the late 70s I would spend the weekend with my dad hunting and in point pleasant NJ I found a big gold naval academy ring. It was the first ring I had ever found. My father having been in the air corp in WWII recognized it and knew who to contact about return soldiers medal but it worked for returning the ring and it was returned to the deceased soldiers widow. This was one of my first times getting a returned find in the Asbury park press news paper. I've since also found military dog tags hunting in creeks where people canoe very heavily. It's a good feeling to reunite people to there long forgotten treadures

Matt's rectangular box could be for calling cards..in victorian times men used to carry calling cards to give to girls that they wanted to court, and they had small cases to keep the cards in

What a bunch of fantastic finds. I love the key , the army ring, and that beautiful ornate Victorian lock. Another thing I just got to comment on. When you were centering on Matt's finds all I could see was muscles. What kind of holes has he been digging???? Wow!!!! Anyway great finds for everyone.

Nice video. I just got my first detector last week ( Simplex) and haven't found anything, not even trash LOL!. Now I find out Las Vegas NV has a lot of restriction on metal detecting . Oh well. You guys are so blessed living in such a great area to explore.
The rules vary so much on public land. Try doing private land by asking friends, neighbors, relatives, etc... You'd be surprised at what you can find almost anywhere.
Some great finds, a little bit of everything, a very cool ring and the steamer trunk lock, and the Large Cents. Also Jason you should have never bought Rich the Legend, oh and I forgot about the crotal bell's, Congrats guys.
I rented an apartment once and didn't realize how close it was to the railroad crossing. Maybe 100 yards? OMG at 3am every morning that train flew by screaming it's noises and until I got used to it it would scare the absolute begeebus out of me. I jumped out of my bed the first two weeks I lived there. You eventually get used to it and tune it out believe it or not. LOL. It was insanely loud. :) Doug made me laugh. LMAO.

When my company was getting ready to graduate boot camp we could order rings. I need to buy a metal detector and go back to the house we lived in. My little sister lost it in the back yard showing it to her friends.

We actually got use to it in the short time we were there. By the time the 5th or 6th one went by I almost didn't notice it. Funny how that works.
That Victorian lock is an ice box latch I’m fairly certain. Me and a buddy dug the matching hinges to that particular latch.

The bells you found are sleigh bells not crotal bells. You can easily discern the difference by the top attachment that was made for leather.
