    It’s terrifying to think anyone at anytime can be a killer. Even the person who sleeps next to you. No one ever believes it can happen to them, until it does.

      it always gets chalked up to mental health, yet nothing is done about mental health after something like his. no one cares about your mental health til you do heinous shit like this. at least the kids mother in VA is on trial for gross child neglect and incorrect firearm storage. first positive thing I've seen come out of recent shootings.

    A guy on the radio said Connor maybe wasn't used to losing. He had lots of awards for being the perfect student & athlete but was about to get fired at work. Take it for what it's worth. Just passing on something that was said. We may never really know why he snapped. Maybe time will tell.

    • @AFloridaSon
      @AFloridaSon ปีที่แล้ว +126

      I find it hard to believe that he never lost at anything until he was going to be fired. He may have won a lot, but I'd be more willing to believe that when he did lose, his family probably treated him like a victim, rather than teach him how to cope with losing. Then when he joins the adult world, he was probably freaked out when the real world no longer treated him like a victim, and not knowing what else to do, he snapped.

      I was thinking the same thing. I heard one former high school classmate describe him as the smartest, most well liked kid in the school. He was a good athlete, probably did well in college or he wouldn't have gotten into graduate school. It's possible he just wasn't used to losing at anything, and being fired from his job was the first failure he ever had to deal with. Teach your kids to fail gracefully and get back on the horse. Every child should fail at a few things to teach them how that feels and how they can come out the other end of failure smarter and better.

    I would really like to know the reasons why he got fired. The media keeps pushing this "wholesome, quiet, sweet, friendly guy who snapped" narrative. Also, per his mom's 9-1-1 call she told the dispatcher that he had a girlfriend. Yet, reports show that he left his mom a note and "a friend" who informed his mom. The girlfriend doesn't even get a mention in any of these news reports. There are more pieces to this story that haven't yet been revealed.

    I worked at a bank shortly after I got married. Was harassed, hazed by co-workers. Decided working under those conditions wasn't worth the effort. Resigned after 3 months. The next two places of work, ended with the same results eventually. Determined that self-employment was the only reasonable solution. I read a few books about positive mental attitude which introduced some new concepts, took a leap of faith and never looked back. From that time forward achieved great success. We always have alternative choices, be calm, be still and we'll find the answers. Get motivated, we don't have to get even, seek revenge or vent our frustrations, karma will take care of that. If god exist, and he chooses to let evil things happen, despite being able to make them not happy, he’s fucking evil, don’t give me the “free will” excuse. In what way, does free will benefit a 5 year old girl who has been raped and beaten to death? That same girl will burn alive forever in hell if she wasn’t a christian, (the only unforgivable sin is blasphemy, which would include disbelief or a different belief) So if a 5 year old muslim girl is raped and killed, she then gets to burn alive forever, in what way does free will benefit her? What if the rapist was a christian man that asked good for forgiveness and gets to go to heaven, does that seem like a loving god or an egoistical evil god?

BEfore they would commit suicide. Now, why suicide when the media is showing you what to do. Lol. So yes it's mental illness. If tomorrow you decide to hurt people for no reason. Why do you call that? Should we call it demons or what do you want to call it? CLEARLY, it's mental illness. You don't have to be dumb about it man. He played all the sports (well) but wore a helment in basketball to keeep from more concusions - Repeated concussions DO cause brain damage that may lie dormaant but cause the person to "snap" if so triggered - say losing a long sought after job. You raise a valid point. When someone who otherwise has done everything pretty well up to a point where they snap, it’s because a tipping point happened. Factors that contribute to mental health are environmental and hereditary. When someone has genetic factors that are normally functioning, they can lose it when environmental factors overload them. Seems that might be the case here. A job loss can be huge to someone, it’s considered high on a stressor list. It’s important we understand the why, so we can work to prevent more of this happening.

    The underlying problem with all these shooters is a lack of hope and faith of their own journey. I’ve taken great losses financially, been hurt by people I’ve cared about the most and been disappointed with society on more levels than one BUT I’ve never quit believing in myself, people, my higher power or my journey. there are shootings in Louisville everyday, even mass shootings (3 or more victims to fit that criteria) and they don't make the news, because it usually only happens in the poorer/non white communities. When it happens in middle/upper class, or dominantly white areas, that is when it makes the news. The exception to that is if the shootings are obviously committed by a racist (such as in Buffalo, NY not that long ago)

    Actually they need to tell us what was stressing this young man out to the point that he snapped because it is happening a lot. They paint these shooters as just evil and as that may be true I think it is a lot of stress involved and people can only take so much in this world and right now there is so much crap people are facing. They said he was going to get fired maybe there was something going on really stressful effecting his work performance and maybe he needed mental help but these days you get mental help and trust me there is a lot of crap that goes on with getting mental help. I am not saying what he did is right God knows that is not even a thought in my head but I do understand that this day and age life has got people by the balls and everything coming at them and they just lose it and it is happening almost every single day in one way or another. Not to long ago a in my small little town a young father with to small boys lost his job and found out his wife was not happy and wanted a divorce shit kinda hit the fan for this guy and he took his two small boys and went to a shed and shot them and then himself, now who in their right mind would do such a thing and that is my point the stress and pressures that people are under i this country are taking its toll and instead of concentrating on gun control all though that needs to be addressed I think we should be concentrating on how we can relieve some of the barriers that plague the people in this country everyday and make it easier to reach out and get help with out scrutiny. It just makes me say to see stories like this because this young man this shooter is a human being and I do not believe God has a child be born and that child just grows up to take a gun and shot people not in my book or heart. God made this man he is my brother in Gods eyes and he did a horrific thing so I am going to pray for him and the victims of this deeply disturbing tragedy because that is what it is. Why don't they start telling the deep stuff about these shootings like what is driving them instead of just focusing on the incident as an evil situation? I think they don't want us to know just how stressed out people are getting because they know the government could care less. This is my opinion not yours mine.
