    I think the gas gas is best looking of the three and I own a 19 690(painted black). All three look like the ride wouldn’t be much different. Impossible to get bored riding these bikes. Total blast!

    I had a DRZ400SM years back, a bike I regretted selling, hence I recently purchased a 701 & running it in, got some stealth mirrors coming also. 👍

      Nice, think you've made a good choice with the 701..and the mirrors! I've still got DRZ, think I'll hang onto it for now, it's worth more to me than what I'd sell it for. Happy riding 👍

      Of you bought it off back of this video, then just as well you like it!! 🤣 I have the husky now and I'm the same, love it. Just had 1st service so I'm going for new exhaust, air filter, and re map soon. Can't wait.

    Mode 1 and 2 are just throttle profiles, mode 2 is closer to 1:1 throttle. Traction control is turned off by pressing tc button for 5 seconds after you have ridden a few yards and stopped again. I think you can turn abs button off too but not tried that yet. Tc works great down the lanes with gravel in the middle, great fun!

    I have a pretty heavliy modified DRZ 440 for 10 years now and bought a 2017 Husqvarna 701 with some mods too.
    The power, brakes and suspesnion difference is huge obviously in favor of 701. I rode it a few times and than after that the DRZ feels to me now like a 125 cc with bad brakes and middle of the road suspesnion.
    DRZ struggles in higher speed, 701 pulls like it's nothing. 701 in corners feels more stable and eats the bumps better than the DRZ.
    I loved my DRZ but 701 is so much better than it in every aspect. Gonna have to sell the DRZ soon as right now for me there is literally no point of having 2 of the same type bikes and one of them being a lot better than the other.

    • @POUSEouttatheHOUSE
      @POUSEouttatheHOUSE  ปีที่แล้ว

      Having since bought a 701, I have to agree on all the points you made. The power, brakes, handling and speed you can go into a bend is in a different league and as you said, riding the DRZ after the 701 is sluggish to say the least. That said, it's still a great bike. Thanks for the feedback 👍

    Also the spluttering is thanks to euro 5 emissions. My 690 actually cuts out in 1st. Got a wings exhaust now which is great, will add a dna filter and remap soon to transform it!

    • @POUSEouttatheHOUSE
      @POUSEouttatheHOUSE  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Think a remap is the way to go. I've got a husky 701 now and I'll be doing the same. There's a place in Bristol I saw on lamb chops channel, he seems good and a better way to do it than a fuel dongle. Let me know how you get on with it 👍

    Excellent review enjoyed it.
    The 701(a far better looking bike imo) is streets ahead of the the ole DRZ and who wouldn,t want a sixth gear us DRZ owners cry out for however been out on mine today and it still puts a smile on my (and your) face.
    If you buy a Husky you,ll probably lose more money than you paid for the DRZ but you will have plenty of fun and live life a bit more on the edge.
    Ride safe

      @POUSEouttatheHOUSE  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Martin, I have indeed since bought a 701 at a very good knock down price, so hopefully I've illuminated any immediate depreciation, and even running it in feels like a drz on steroids. I might well just keep hold of the drz though, we'll see! More of the 701 to come. Thanks for watching 👍

    • @POUSEouttatheHOUSE
      @POUSEouttatheHOUSE  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @vzerodonuts7949 2nd hand prices of DRZ are a bit silly in uk too. Also if you get a good deal on a new gasgas/husky/ktm you can pick them up cheaper than 2nd hand, with 2 years warranty and 12 months break down cover. Thanks for watching 👍

    So for the 1st service are dealerships requiring a fuel screen replacement and if so, why?

    • @POUSEouttatheHOUSE
      @POUSEouttatheHOUSE  ปีที่แล้ว

      The first dealer service is meant to be 2 screens, 2 filters and oil change. Ktm sell the kits and tge dealer that did my 1st service said that's the kit they used because I asked however my experience of a dealership service wasn't great and neither was my brother's who also has a 701sm like me. I can only speak for my service though. In future I'll be doing my own. If in good condition it is possible to clean the screens and reuse them. The reason for this service like any 1st service is to remove any metal fibres or shards created from wearing of tge new engine. This prolongs longevity. Hope that helps 👍

      @jfj60616 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@POUSEouttatheHOUSE I know about the oil screen. It’s the fuel screens the manual refers to. Just wanted to know why on the 1st service this needs to be replaced. I’ve been quoted anywhere from $500-750 for the 1st service. And I’m skeptical that this needs to be done this soon

  • @MV-vv7sg

    I did not know GasGas had their own 701!
    Great review and video - as all the rest of yours are -.
    Now you own the 701, looking back at it, what are the big similarities and differences between that and this red twin?
    (Many false neutrals on your 701 now you’ve ridden it a bit too btw?)

    • @POUSEouttatheHOUSE
      @POUSEouttatheHOUSE  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Gas I'd basically the ktm smcr 690 with different wheels. The wheels are cast alloy (I think) and said to be a tiny bit lighter. The plastics and seat are the same as ktm (I think) but different colour. The husky has different seat and plastics and has a usb port. Dont think gas gas has usb port. There are also differences on all 3 bikes between European/ USA models with the dash, and usb ports. The ride however is basically the same. It's more a case of which one you like the look of most. Hope that helps.

    You need a fuel dongle for low revs apparently.

    • @POUSEouttatheHOUSE
      @POUSEouttatheHOUSE  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Having done a bit of research since, I'm not sure they work on the latest euro 5 engine. I think the best way is to choose your exhaust and air filter, then get it mapped properly by a professional on a rolling road. That way it will be set up perfectly for your specific bike and set up. That's what I'll be doing with my Husky 701 once the engine is run in. Thanks for watching 👍

    • @TheSpainy
      @TheSpainy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@POUSEouttatheHOUSE I wass having a look for here in Spain and there is a dongle labelled Fuel Dongle PP-02 which says it is for euro 5.

    • @POUSEouttatheHOUSE
      @POUSEouttatheHOUSE  ปีที่แล้ว

      @TheSpainy maybe there is one available now, but my understanding is that the euro 5 was hard to overide. I also think because the dongles are off the shelf products, they'll never be as good as getting your bike personally mapped. I'd be interested to know how it performs if you do go ahead with it. Let me know how you get on 👍

    Superb review of the gas gas, as you know I got one, I prefer the style to the 701, and with some graphics it does break up the red, as for false neutrals, they all do it, but as you say its great bike, and i bet youll buy something, the drz is good, but the 690/7000/701 is way way better.

    I own a DRZ400E(around 45 HP) here in Australia and just purchased a Gas Gas es 700. For me the Gas Gas is just a more powerful, refined version of the DRZ with fancy electronics. I nicely set up DRZ will holds it's on in the dirt where horse power is not the deciding factor. If the DRZ had a 6th gear and 10 extra horse power, I probably would not have bought the Gas Gas. Straight out of the dealership, it was leaking oil from the slave cylinder. The Gas Gas is twice the cost but not twice as good..

      @POUSEouttatheHOUSE  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for feedback. I've since bought a Husky 701sm and although I'm still running it in, I do love it and the power is worlds apart. That said, I've still kept hold of the DRZ as it's just too good to let go! Thanks for watching 👍

    Bloody DRZ!!! That machine you are riding is streets ahead of your 16 year old DRZ. For me there is no comparison. The GasGas for me is ugly. Like I've said before it looks like my daughters early 2000's Suzuki LT50 quad. Get yourself a 701. Leave the DRZ in the past. As for false neutrals, you need to be more positive on gear change. Bit of a pain but you'll get used to it. Have a lovely day.
