    I was initially a little disappointed with my '23 690's performance in the low/mid range in stock form ... but after adding the Rotty airbox + PC6 (with map switch) + slip-on this thing is an absolute beast! So much fun to ride now. Really appreciate all the effort y'all put into development for these things - the results show it!

      Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it. Gotta love a proper map! We have every bell and whistle you can get on our dyno so we can be sure we are getting the best and most accurate information and measurements. It's actually kind of fun to use it to see things that are otherwise impossible to measure. Sometimes we even do 'health checks' on bikes that we have data on when they were brand new just to see if anything has deteriorated over time.

    Excellent video and very informative, I have the 2022 euro 5 701 and had the choice when I purchased new of either the Ktm, Gas Gas or the 701 so I spent the day much to the dealers surprise road testing all 3 and I felt the 701 was just better out of the box.
    Not saying it is the “best” but to me personally I gelled with the 701 and have now enjoyed adding to it.
    This kind of video is great to pin point what we are actually trying to achieve by modding the bikes.

    Damn I was getting excited with the massive power and torque gains......till I read in the comments that the 700 you were tuning was a Euro4 and not a Euro5.
    We here in Australia have the Euro5 since 2021 as someone else said in the comments. My new 2022 suffers from asthma in the low to mid rev range and Im very disappointed. It would be great for you to get a Euro5 on the test bed and see what you can do with it. Will keep an eye out for any commentary. There's some money out there to be made guys if you can crack the encoded ECU and piggyback a PC6.

The thing about videos is that when you find something cool to do that people like and you hit on that, then you need to go back and do the same for all of them (or should) so we have actually been talking internally about dovetailing in videos at the end of testing that showed you, the viewers everything we found interesting about the bike and what happened along the way when we were testing different things. One we plan on doing soon is what happens to the power and air fuel ratios when you remove the cat and the theory behind all of it. We think that one will be really interesting to people and we have a lot to share there to dispel the myths that are put out there by some somewhat questionable companies.

    Thanks to Chris & co. for doing the work for us and proving it via the dynovenue. I have a new (2023) 690 with just a few miles so adding engine-based mods is not in the cards until the warranty elapses however I would be interested to get your take on what you would add and in what order once the modding threshold has been reached - here is your potential shopping cart: (these are all Rottweiler-sourced). 1. Fueling dongle. 2. Exhaust (just the can, no header) 3. Intake system 4. SAS/canister removal kit 5. Dynojet PC6. Did I miss anything? Feel free to add up to 3 items at one time. Last question: What do you think a more linear fuel/air delivery will do to the longevity of the engine internals - I get that too lean is harmful. Have you torn down an engine after tweaking it to inspect? Again, thanks for the great products, excellent customer service (already had the opportunity to be part of yours!), and for doing your 'homework' and sharing it with us.

    • @alf9638
      @alf9638 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just stick all the mods on now, better for the bike in the long run because it runs cooler with the fueling and timing advance mods from the PC6. The bike is a lemon without these mods.

    • @roughrider9831
      @roughrider9831 ปีที่แล้ว

      I added a fuel dongle to mine while still in warranty. Takes 5 minutes to add or remove it. Leave the O2 sensor in place and just seal the open plug from dirt with electrical tape. The dongle noticeably reduced the jerkiness at low throttle openings which meant I could ride in at least one gear higher. It didn't completely eliminate the jerkiness but was well worth the improvement for such a small cost outlay. This was on a 2020 KTM 690 and it was not a Rottweiller supplied dongle.

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's a great and common question. They don't effect them at all. They simply modify by percentage what is happening 'below' it, so whatever the stock ECU is telling the injectors to do, it modifies that by a pre determined percentage that is the map installed. So whatever position you are in, it will work perfectly well with that. On the larger bikes that have 'rain' and 'street' and 'race' modes, those are cocktails of traction control, throttle sloping and ABS, none of which are really alterations of the fueling like some believe.

    • @RottweilerPerformance

      The fuel dongle helps fill in closed loop by tricking the bike into thinking the exhaust gasses are lean, so it only works in closed loop which is really where you need it. Question... I have the Rade Garage front fuel tank that comes with an intake which deletes the airbox, similar to the Rottweiler. The bike is otherwise stock. Would your power commander tune (along with compatible muffler) be applicable to my bike (2023 701 Enduro)?

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sort of. The intake that comes with that kit isn't good for any power. We have dyno tested them and they are about the same as stock, except they are oiled foam and very small so they tend to load up fast. A Powercommander will work great on that bike, but you'll want to use maps that say 'STOCK INTAKE' and not use the ones for the Rottweiler Intake System because they have more fuel because, more air.

And the fact is, there are important differences between the orange, yellow, and red versions of their entire lineup. • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  ปีที่แล้ว

      What we mean by that is if the motor is really different or not. We like color choices as much as the next person, but the context was really about if this bike was that different or not in the tuning department. We did mention that the bike was really great looking though.

      DB Killers are fine. They are just hard on the packing inside the muffler because it creates some extra pressure and heat inside. Mapping wise sometimes we make maps with DB killers or spark arrestors, but for the most part you can run a map made for without one, with one, no problem.

    What is Rottweler’s goals with regards to internal engine modifications for this motor?

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest, internal stuff reduces the demand by quite a bit mainly because of the diminishing returns for 'dollar to horsepower' ratios. There are very few customers that really want to go that deep so we focus on the big gains that are easy, affordable and accessible by almost every kind of owner/rider. That isn't to say we won't do more internal stuff at some point though.

I thought perhaps that meant a cam & gasket change that could provide a little tighter quench and a bit of compression. awesome video! the bike likes the fueling to be a little richer. Is that because of the construction of the engine (bigger bore and shorter stroke than the old 690 engine) or because of the parts you added to it?

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Larger bores seem to like a bit more fuel. The big twins respond well to it as well. It's not a necessity with the twins, but the big single is about as large a piston as you would want and the burn characteristics seem to thrive on it.

    I live in europe and gone buy a 690-701 probably gone get a left over 2022 GasGas. They have Kat in the silencer and are tune 12,5 in fuel to get the Kat hot enough, that makes the silencer so hot that it melts the blinker lights and not possible to have side bag. Im gone make mine to be a rally bike and TET so gone change the exhaust system to a more open air and no Kat but that makes the bike to lean. Is a fuel dongle on the nox sensor gone work for that? Are gone get a european distributor for Rottweiler?

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The fuel dongle should be looked at similar to a pilot jet. They really only work on the bottom of the RPM range. They work really well for putting around and keeping the bike smooth and help it to not stall, but for full mapping purposes we would highly recommend a Powercommander for that bike. They work wonders.

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  ปีที่แล้ว

      This bike does not do that with a piggyback because there are O2 optimizers that get installed in place of the O2 that richens the mixture in closed loop and stops the ECU from hunting for 14.7 AFR by tricking it into thinking the air fuel ratios in the exhaust system are the same all the time. If you installed a piggyback without our fueling dongles (included only with Power Commanders from Rottweiler Performance and not Dynojet), and had any mapping in closed loop you would be correct in that the bike would just undo the corrections.

    The gains are very nice but you practically killed the bike below 3500rpm, where the normal mapping has a nice, straight torque curve, right?

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Not at all. What you are reading is the beginning or start of the run on the dyno and they always look like that with a little ramp up. We load the bike at the lowest RPM the bike will allow us to and start from there and those dips should really be trimmed off but we didn’t. You can’t really measure HP well at very low RPMs on a dyno. We can tune there, and measure air fuel ratios there, but turning a heavy drum at those low RPMs doesn’t measure well. These mods make a ton of HP from bottom to top.

    Would you tune a gasgas700 for drag racing ?

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As in for a client or as in at all? The thing about tuning is that there mostly isn't a specific area to focus on. You just focus on it all, so it's all usually just better. It's not like a header pipe that may have different diameters or lengths that could dictate 'low' or 'high' end power. Fuel tuning just gets you to the best place possible regardless of what you are doing with it. Ignition is a bit different because it can really effect the rideability of the bike depending on what you are doing with it, so that part of 'tuning' is a bit different than the fuel part.

      Not sure what context we would have told someone that unless it was about a specific 2023 model that is problematic in terms of tuning with a Power Commander to which there are a couple of models we have not cracked yet, but most of them, especially Kehin powered models can be tuned with a Power Commander unless they are Euro 5 690-701 which makes things a bit more tricky. We can't get a Euro 5 690-701 bike in the US so we haven't really had the chance to see what we can do there. It's all a matter of time with some of these bikes.
      In terms of the 700 US model, there is no issue tuning it with a Power Commander.

      Motor and mapping wise there is very little difference. The frame is a 2019+ KTM that's red but we have all come to understand that a majority of the differences between KTM, Husqvarna and GASGAS are the accoutrement. The dashes, the plastics, the shape and look, and the electronics are basically the differences and while GASGAS has positioned itself to be the 'more affordable' KTM, it's all pretty much the same stuff without the nice details of a KTM or Husky.
