@randychristensen1028 I prefer the demon great machete. Slower r2, but higher ar which means stronger r1 spam.
I prefer the regular greatsword honestly. with Leo ring, r2 can do over 1k damage

IIRC, the ds1 zweihanders heavy does its stagger damage twice, meaning it can stunlock a lot of bosses. Im pretty sure it stunlocks both ornstein and smough, completely trivializing the fight.
Smough staggers every third R1 or every other R2, which is just barely enough to stunlock him, and Ornstein just crumples to it. Gold Pine Resin for Smough, and Charcoal Pine Resin for Super Smough, Charcoal Pine Resin for Ornstein and Super Ornstein. Alternatively, get minimum requirements to cast either Magic Weapon or Great Magic Weapon and get the Oolacile Ivory Catalyst, because Magic Damage is highly effective against both of them, regardless of who dies first.

DS1 zwei heavy attack stunlocks literally everything except dragons (Kalameet, Seathe) and Manus.
i never learned dodge or parrying even tho i was not utilizing poise in ds1 cuz how OP zwei's stunlock potential/range/massive hitbox was
i just got great at distancing,positioning and spacing out Heavy spams of Zwei and game was p^ss easy. it stunlocks everythong to 0 HP even super form Smough. its nuts.

It's not twice the poise, the ultra greatsword running attack and the R2 on the Zweihander and Dragon Greatsword had a shockwawe effect with an added flat poise damage. The 2H running attack on other big weapons dealt 80 poise damage, ultra greatswords got 80+50 with the shockwawe (75+50 on the R2s).

My first play through of DS1 I did a spell build
I thought the game was difficult but not rage inducing hard like everyone said including my friend who then challenged me to do a melee run
So I started a new run picked up the zweihaner and I’m gonna be honest it was easier

That weapon is broken it’s only downside is to properly abuse it you need to invest in some extra stamina but like that’s it
DS1’s Zweihander is the BEST hand down. Because it was so good for a weapon, they felt they had to nerf it after that. Any Zweihander in subsequent soul games therefore have failed comparison to the greatness of the original. Elden Ring’s Zweihander fair a little better than the other soul games, but still failed compared to ds1’s.

Honestly if From didn't nerf quality builds like they did in DS3, I think the Zwei in that game would have faired a bit better. DS1 though my god. The days where I paired power within, sunlight blade, and just went to town with that weapon. Love you Zwei

Ds3 zwei was amazing, it had a stomp R1 to R2 true combo in pvp, since the second r1 has a faster recovery with the same stagger as a first r1
I wish they would bring back that vertical move set like FUGS, Cathedral Knight Greatsword, and Greatsword from Dark Souls 3. I like the horizontal moveset, but I also really like the vertical moveset.
The two handed R2 moveset on most colossals is kinda like that.

I have strength and dex at 90 and the zweihander does a little bit more damage and the range looks the same? Plus the zweihander heavy is so much better than the greatsword one

Not sure how it works but in DS3 the Zweidhander’s one handed R2 thrust attack can knock enemies away more easily than Astora.
Elden ring did ultra greatswords so dirty but i guess er zwei has the cr2s going for it. The best zwei without a doubt is ds1 tho.

Me personally I’ve only ever used the zweihander once in ds1 and it kinda plowed through everything. That’s saying a ton.
Nothing will ever top the ds1 zweihander, insane weapon makes the entire game a cakewalk
Don't think I would call it the best weapon in DS1. In PvE it's a strong option, but there are still some other weapon classes that beat it out such as halberds, and in PvP it's not even close to the likes of MLGS, butterfly horn, demon spear, rapier, "baller swag sword", or even murakumo.
What about demon souls zweihander "great sword" while named great sword it has the look of the zweihander

Something I want to mention about the Elden Ring Zweihander, it doesn't have a "unique" Heavy Attack. It is a different R2 than most Colossal Swords in Elden Ring, but it actually shares the same Heavy Attack with the Troll Knight's Sword! The Troll Knight's Sword is not infusable, so the Zweihander has that over the Troll Knight's Sword, as well as range and weight of course.

It’s still great on a strength build, idk why people say this. If you’re two handing, heavy infusion on the zwei outdamages keen infusion.
@@st0ic734 it's not bad, but there are just better options. Yes, they do weight more but also have more damage. Also maybe keen is not as good, but lightning slaps specially if you use something like lightning slash
@@Basidus258 Lightning infusion is great! But you shouldn't count out those charged stab R2s on a pure physical (heavy) build with the spear talisman, axe talisman and spiked crystal tear. For PVP though I would definitely go lightning infusion.
@@st0ic734this is partially wrong, any AoW would deal more damage on a keen zwiehander, that’s not really a debate. Heavy does do more damage when two handing for regular weapon strikes though, esp when two handing but the damage diff is relatively small

I think this is one of my biggest gripes with DS1. Almost all other weapons feel like ass compared to the Zwei. There's almost no point in using any other weapon, especially since you can get it in the beginning.
