9:58 I think they are still the best for poke type ashes except for giant hunt which you can put on colossals. Impaling thrust on greatsword (/lance/heavy thrusting sword) is the highest poise damage per second ash in the game I beleave.
Kind of have to disagree on darksouls 3, ultra greatswords are goated in that game. Hard to use, yes, but the damage is no joke and the range makes such a difference, they're also not really all that slow. Most enemies can be shut down in like 2 or 3 attacks of an Ultra Greatsword and you can easily stunlock enemies to death, very useful against faster enemies if you can manage to get them. My favorite move back in the day was opening with an R2 poke attack with the Astoria Greatsword and following up with R1's, would kill pretty much every non boss enemy in the game no BS.
I suppose for bloodborne, you can take each damage type and kinda judge a class based on that. Threaded cane can be under Peirce as well as the rifle spear
@@CerberusMalt I know, just kinda thinking realistically for it, I mean cause if you buy a wooden cane from the shops you don't really expect it to slash someone open, more so poke and bludgeone
DeS - agree. DS - imo curved swords are better. Falchion and Painting guardian sword with weapon buff has extream dps, fast moveset and easy to use. And you can get Falchion right after asylum demon. DS2 - agree. Actually DS2 is the only game in this list where piercing damage is strong (really strong). In ER it's absurdly overrated. It's godlike in PVP, but in PVE counter hit happens only when you trade hits. And you don't want to trade with bosses. My 2nd place goes to twinblades. Red iron twinbade is amazing, Santier's spear before mundane infusion nerf was absolutely broken. DS3 - agree. But! Sellsword and Warden Twinblades are still by far the best pve weapon. As weapon CLASS straight swords are absolutely the best. ER - completely disagree. The only good thing about greatswords is special L2. Curved swords are the best. Bandit's and Scavenger's are absurdly good. Get 2 copies of both, use occult infusion (Bandit's lose tiny amount of damage compared to keen infusion) with jumping attack, consecutive hits and buffs after bleed proc. If your target isn't immune to bleed - Scavengers, single seppuku to proc bleed buffs, spam jump attacks. Bleed is nice extra damage, but it's here to keep AR buff. And it doesn't matter that 2+ bleeds take longer to proc - with such high DPS every boss dies before 2nd bloodloss happens. And if your target is immune to bleed - Bandit's swords still has impressive DPS. And don't sleep on Raptor's talon. It's not THAT good in late game (not NG+, but late part of playthrough), but is copletely busted through early and midgame. And if anyone says other claws are better than Raptors - spit in the face of this freak.
Well I did say if those broken somber weapons didn’t exists it would probably go to great hammers, curved swords or spears but being that the options of which they have are apart of the criteria then how could anything else get number 1? L2 spam is meta and greatswords have the best L2 spam
That's the main problem of ER. Your weapon doesn't matter, since you're either spamming status effects or you're spamming AOWs. For example, straight swords suck, but either power stance them with bleed or spam square off and suddenly they are at similar level as every other meta way to play the game and make almost everything way too easy. But if we focus solely on using weapons as weapons, I kind of do agree with greatswords. They have relatively fast attacks, good damage, good reach and they also stagger enemies that can be staggered. Too bad it doesn't matter, since that's not the correct way to play the game.
You don't have to trade hits for counterattack damage you can dodge or position yourself so you don't get hit by the attack while attacking yourself during their attack animation.
You surprised me with Elden Ring tbh, I was fully expecting Katanas. Like you said though there's a ton of good weapon classes in Elden Ring, and also a ton of terrible classes.
Yeah, and while I kinda agree with Greatswords having OP stuff among them, If we ignore blasphemous blade and moonlight I think Greathammers are actually the best weapons. More like Greatswords are just Greathammers with Standart Damage and less stagger buildup. And given none of them are particularly exceptional at DPS, I think the hammers are better as actual weapons against most mobs (Again, discounting the broken weapon art sticks of Blasphemous and Co).
Kinda got blindsided with the Halberds for DS1 cause when i did research for that game, with the exception of the Great Scythe, everyone just said they sucked.
Prefer the ugs in ds2/3 don't get me wrong lothric sword in ds3 is the (in my opinion) strongest straight sword but in ds2 the overhead attacks where the sword comes straight down is unparryable combine that with a high damage and stunlocking groups rather then just one enemy at a time is more useful to me rather then something that swings faster it's the same reasoning behind me liking the ugs in ds3 wide attack range=more enemies staggered managing stamina's second nature to anyone soulsbourne vet so at the end of the day stamina consumption does matter to a degree but if you manage it you'll be fine with any weapon.
Pretty sure you were only including melee weapons for ER. But if you allowed staves and seals, they would take the cake EASILY. Magic is just stupid strong in ER.
So what you're saying is... it is even more worth it to complete Ranni's questline cause you are more likely to utilize the great swords for the Dark Moon Greatsword.
Demon Souls - Straight Swords Dark Souls - In my opinion Ultra Great Swords but IDK I can see a good argument for almost every weapon type. Dark Souls 2 - Hammers due to powerstancing but again difficult choice Dark Souls 3 - Curved Swords no contest Elden Ring - Greatswords for sure
I would say Bloodborne has weapon classes. Slow and fast weapons.. Fast weapons a far better in my op. The amount of health you can regain after you have taken damage is greater if you use fast weapons. This is due to the health they bring back and their speed. A big weapon like the Kirkhammer regains a bigger chunk of health per hit as fast weapons but you are usually just able to hit your enemy once or twice. With fast weapons, it is easier to hit them mulitple times and therefore regaining more health. Fast weapons deal damage more quickly because they are faster, therefore stagger a boss quicker.
What's the best class in each souls game? Claymore. (I miss the DS2 moveset) My favorite weapons in souls besides Baemore and katanas are In DS1 were Baller Swag Sword, Golem Axe, Curved swords in DS2 - bandit axe, twinblades, greatswords, hammers and lance. (Wasn't a fan of thrusting weapons) Ds3 - Lothric SS, Carthus CS, greatswords, Sellswords (duh), BKH and the big hammer with square head just because ripostes looked so good with it. In ER - pretty much everything. I love the variety. I used greatswords, great hammers, curved swords and spears the most, but I've played around with just about everything. Its a rare game where fists are amazing. Whips are really good. Daggers can put in work. Even using just shields or bows can carry you through the game. Theres not a class i can think of (crossbows i guess) that you can't find at least one way to make it really powerful.
Ultra GS até usually my favorite weapon class But i cant like It in DS1, It feels 3 times slower than usual, and have no hyper armor, enemies feels harder tô stagger as well
4:17 all halberds except all scythes dp piercing damage even if it doesn't look like piercing as BKH attacks they do piercing damage. Leo ring works 7:16 there are no poise from armor in DS3
There is poise from armour in DS3, but it only applies during hyper armor frames you get from certain weapons (Ultra Greatswords, Great Hammers, Greataxes, 2H Halberds and 2H Greatswords). For most other weapons, it makes no difference. For example, if a guy in Havels with a Zweihander clashes with another Zweihander from a guy wearing the ninja set, the guy with Havels will win the trade. But if they were both wielding longswords, then they would both be staggered, because longswords do not activate hyper-armour frames, so poise would mean nothing.
@@AltAccount-dz8rp don't make me to upload yt video just for you. Check counterattack damage with leo ring and without. The easiest way is hollow knigh'ss with sword thrust attack, they do it twice and easy to time also with halberds range not hard to land. Near gargoyles there are 2 knights

@@subject8776 once again I disagree. You claim they’re best because why? Best damage? No. Best range? No. Giants crusher is niche in situations where strike damage matters. But what makes them better than say Moonveil or star fist or perhaps gransax?

Greatswords, halberds, maces, curved greatswords... so much potential for greatness but fast R1 spam is just too powerful, especially with the insane build flexibility they get on top.
I honestly think that in Elden ring we need better fist weapons it’s like they’ve been bad in every souls game and they deserve it at this point so yeah and Ik abt the balls build but doesn’t change the fact that there’s still not a lot of them
Fist weapons(not Claws) are very strong in PvE and offer some of the best poise damage per second in the game. They are able to script boss fights and makes it really easy to do flawless fights at rune Level 1.
I always try to avoid a lot of the broken stuff in souls games, some of it is so broken that it just makes it way easier than it’s actually intended to be, when I use a melee weapon that’s notoriously known to be broken since I really like using it, I won’t fully upgrade it so it’s balanced out to your normal experience, in defense though, a lot of the broken stuff throughout the games are mainly powered by all the buffs and talismans

like this iust only for pve, cause is nnot like that at all in pvp, even in pve is wrong cause ultra in dks 1 is the best because they stagger almost anyone
Gotta disagree with you on elden ring by baseing the choice on weapons with projectiles. If u base it that it just be magic op. The weapons them selves are mid like u said. But the ashes of war require very certin builds to even be worth it.
Demon Souls - Straight Swords Dark Souls - Katanas. They swing as fast as piercing swords and straight swords, have bleed, have more damage, need one stat and have supreme moveset and range. And if not Katanas, definitely curved swords. In a game where you can stack FLAT DAMAGE buffs that go as high as 400 extra damage, choosing a slower weapon type is stupid. Plus even with a katana or a straight sword you can stagger most enemies anyway. Dark Souls 2 - Very balanced game, hard to choose. Piercing swords is a good pick for bosses, but something much heavier with longer reach will be much better for mobs (maybe Ultra Great Swords), because the have a ton of poise, and outranging them is a big deal. Also buffs are based on AR, and motion values are applied after enemy defenses, so in this game it much more important to have high damage per hit. Plus killing mobs in this game is super important because it's hard to run past. Dark Souls 3 - Straight swords, besides Sellswords obviously. Elden Ring - Greatswords because of the retarded Ashes Of War. If we exclude Ashes of War, i don't know what i would consider the best, but i'd say Claws/Fists are vey efficient. The amount of effective DPS you can do with such little weight and resources is stupid.

in DS1 imo, Curved Swords outperform everything else by a ridiculous amount
@9:38 eating those words as we speak
What do you mean?
From my point of view dark souls III punishes heavy builds and favorite fast builds.
In ds 3 the best weapon type are curved swords but only because of Sellsword winblades
The threaded cane is very obviously slashing, you use a sharp whip or a bladed cane, you almost never thrust except with the untransformed heavy
@@twoshu8940 thrusting is thrusting
@@doll5274 Then you'd list it as Slash/Pierce but the primary function of the weapon is not the thrust my man.
@@CerberusMalt I know, just kinda thinking realistically for it, I mean cause if you buy a wooden cane from the shops you don't really expect it to slash someone open, more so poke and bludgeone
I still miss Stance on my Baemore
@@Snydenthur psss too strong to say ss sucks, might be more accurate to say sword and boarding sucks.
You don't have to trade hits for counterattack damage you can dodge or position yourself so you don't get hit by the attack while attacking yourself during their attack animation.
@@youwyWhat about great hammers convinces you that they could be #1? The great stars and their general poise damage?
In DS1 halberds have only 20-30 poise damage like straight swords and katanas, greatswords get 35-52.5 poise damage in contrast.
You surprised me with Elden Ring tbh, I was fully expecting Katanas. Like you said though there's a ton of good weapon classes in Elden Ring, and also a ton of terrible classes.
i hope all of the new classes are good
Yeah, and while I kinda agree with Greatswords having OP stuff among them, If we ignore blasphemous blade and moonlight I think Greathammers are actually the best weapons.
More like Greatswords are just Greathammers with Standart Damage and less stagger buildup.
And given none of them are particularly exceptional at DPS, I think the hammers are better as actual weapons against most mobs (Again, discounting the broken weapon art sticks of Blasphemous and Co).
"Got hard twinblades" sent me im sorry
Dunno for ds3 i would have gone with the twinblades cuz sellsword twinblades just makes the game easy
He's referring to the overall class
@@RemingtonSteelthat changes nothing with his comment
@@TimothyGod It does because the class as a whole isn't that great.
Pray they finally fix the Gargoyle weapons.
Which game?
Kinda got blindsided with the Halberds for DS1 cause when i did research for that game, with the exception of the Great Scythe, everyone just said they sucked.
After DLC:
Great Katana. Fight me. 👊
Ah yes, the DS3 days when I farmed Lothric Knight Swords so I can have one of each element to counter everything that stands in my way.
I like how you say you wish they expanded on certain weapon types in the elden ring dlc and the game is like “kung fu time tarnished”
Is magic stupid strong in all soul s games
So what you're saying is... it is even more worth it to complete Ranni's questline cause you are more likely to utilize the great swords for the Dark Moon Greatsword.
Demon Souls - Straight Swords
Dark Souls - In my opinion Ultra Great Swords but IDK I can see a good argument for almost every weapon type.
Dark Souls 2 - Hammers due to powerstancing but again difficult choice
Dark Souls 3 - Curved Swords no contest
Elden Ring - Greatswords for sure
Claymore. (I miss the DS2 moveset)
My favorite weapons in souls besides Baemore and katanas are
In DS1 were Baller Swag Sword, Golem Axe, Curved swords
in DS2 - bandit axe, twinblades, greatswords, hammers and lance. (Wasn't a fan of thrusting weapons)
Ds3 - Lothric SS, Carthus CS, greatswords, Sellswords (duh), BKH and the big hammer with square head just because ripostes looked so good with it.
Ultra greatsword in everything. The end .(Sekiro excepted)
You can try best fist weapon in every soulsgame.
Ultra GS até usually my favorite weapon class
But i cant like It in DS1, It feels 3 times slower than usual, and have no hyper armor, enemies feels harder tô stagger as well
Feet ranking next?
4:17 all halberds except all scythes dp piercing damage even if it doesn't look like piercing as BKH attacks they do piercing damage. Leo ring works
7:16 there are no poise from armor in DS3
There is poise from armour in DS3, but it only applies during hyper armor frames you get from certain weapons (Ultra Greatswords, Great Hammers, Greataxes, 2H Halberds and 2H Greatswords). For most other weapons, it makes no difference.
For example, if a guy in Havels with a Zweihander clashes with another Zweihander from a guy wearing the ninja set, the guy with Havels will win the trade. But if they were both wielding longswords, then they would both be staggered, because longswords do not activate hyper-armour frames, so poise would mean nothing.
how it feels to spread misinformation:
@@AltAccount-dz8rp don't make me to upload yt video just for you. Check counterattack damage with leo ring and without. The easiest way is hollow knigh'ss with sword thrust attack, they do it twice and easy to time also with halberds range not hard to land. Near gargoyles there are 2 knights
@@RustemKonan"don't make me to upload yt video just for you" 🙄
@@TimothyGod well the author of the video already checked it by himself and have proven it. Check video about all souls games halberds
top 10 ng+7 builds pls
In ds3 is the black knight greatsword my go to weapon
So according to my knowledge
DeS-Agree
Ds1-Agree
Ds2-Disagree (i think hammers are just a bit better and easier to use for noobies in general)
Ds3-Agree
Er-Agree
We are on the same ship buddy
I'm so sad hearing the last part talking about how the dlc could give more stuffs for other classes like scythes and ends up giving just 1 new scythe that you get after beating the final boss ;;-;;
Only DS3 and Elden Ring didn’t surprise me. I was like “With the options in Elden Ring he can’t possibly not pick Greatswords”
DS1: Ultra greatswords
Ds2: Ultra greatswords
Ds3: Ultra greatsword
Elden ring: Ultra greatwsords
Sekiro: Ultra great axe
I used guts sword in every single run of every single game, my monkey brain belongs to that weapon alone
I get your point on Elden Ring. I still just disagree.
pretty sure youwy intentionally throws in at least one hot take for engagement
Based on the criteria I was using I couldn’t put anything else at number 1
@@youwy No I get it. Elden Ring is a very highly balanced unbalanced game. There are a lot of OP choices like you said. I’m hard pressed to think of an alternative. If I had to pick I’d probably say Katanas but Greatswords do have a lot of good choices. I think my bias is a little bit that they’re in an awkward stage of being just a little to slow compared to straight swords, katanas, & curved but not having quite enough bonk power like UGS.
@@williamfryer8460To slow for what though? The two best weapons in the game are greatswords. I beat the game with a Giant-Crusher, that is slow.
@@subject8776 once again I disagree. You claim they’re best because why? Best damage? No. Best range? No. Giants crusher is niche in situations where strike damage matters. But what makes them better than say Moonveil or star fist or perhaps gransax?
You can infuse lothric knight's sword right?
Yes both the straight and ultra greatsword versions. I have an inventory full of each with most of the different infusions.
Yes I meant to say Holy Lothric Sword for that part
I wonder what is the best weapon type in Sekiro...
Probably a straight sword
Now best rapiers in every soulsgame
Can you show your er graphic settings?
Iron Knuckles in DeS PS3 ftw
Guts sword, guts sword, guts sword guts sword
“Hopefully they give it to a class that actually needs it like scythes.…”
They gave us fucking 1 at the end of a questline after you beat the final boss! Fromsoft, what the hell did scythes do to make you hate them so?!
best weapon class is the biggest baddest bonkiest stick you can find
It's kind of sad just how ridiculous straight swords are in DS3 (barring sellswords of course, that weapon is beyond illegal) because there are other exceptionnal weapon types in DS3.
Greatswords, halberds, maces, curved greatswords... so much potential for greatness but fast R1 spam is just too powerful, especially with the insane build flexibility they get on top.
Sellsword in ds3????
I honestly think that in Elden ring we need better fist weapons it’s like they’ve been bad in every souls game and they deserve it at this point so yeah and Ik abt the balls build but doesn’t change the fact that there’s still not a lot of them
Fist weapons(not Claws) are very strong in PvE and offer some of the best poise damage per second in the game. They are able to script boss fights and makes it really easy to do flawless fights at rune Level 1.
I disagree about DS 1 and DS 3. Curved swods is best weapon class there, it's S-tier in pve and pvp too.
It’s hammer and great hammers for the whole fromsoft line If you disagree your opinion is wrong
Where bow weapon class and crossbow and greatbows???
I always try to avoid a lot of the broken stuff in souls games, some of it is so broken that it just makes it way easier than it’s actually intended to be, when I use a melee weapon that’s notoriously known to be broken since I really like using it, I won’t fully upgrade it so it’s balanced out to your normal experience, in defense though, a lot of the broken stuff throughout the games are mainly powered by all the buffs and talismans
was about to go off on u bc of the elden ring spears in the thumbnail just played the entire fromsoft catalogue (except sekiro) as leonidas and boy are elden ring spears the worst
good video, but you failed to account for the fact that greathammers are actually the best class in every game. except demons souls which is greataxes bc i think is what the cleaver is
Lmao the meat cleaver is also a large hammer. You can go wrong with that weapon class in any game
nice!
no straight sword in ds3 is more broken than dark sword I stopped using it because I finished the ng+ in just one week and I always take my time to loot everything in the game
Most ss are better than dark sword though.
Now do worst weapon class in every souls game
The weeb in me says Katanas for every single game
Katana, Katana, Katana, Katana, Katana and Katana
Claymore Baemore
19 new flails in er dlc promise guys
Worst weapon class next?
The Sellsword Twinblades WA is *not* amazing bro 💀
Best class weapon in er is katanas and its not even close
Nah, blasphemous blade, ordivis, moonlight GS, ghost poker, sacred sword relic, gs have it all
No love for Iro GS elden ring
I’m sorry but the answer in Elden Ring is spears, no question.
where would u rank Katanas in every game?, for me its Demons Souls: Crap, DSR/1, Pretty good, DS2: idk only did 1 playthrough, DS3: kinda Shit, Elden Ring: Amazing
like this iust only for pve, cause is nnot like that at all in pvp, even in pve is wrong cause ultra in dks 1 is the best because they stagger almost anyone
Nah DS3 goes to Ultra greatswords, I’ll never rest until we get the vertical moveset again
Spears are the most effective weapons and also the most boring to use
Gotta disagree with you on elden ring by baseing the choice on weapons with projectiles. If u base it that it just be magic op. The weapons them selves are mid like u said. But the ashes of war require very certin builds to even be worth it.
Magic ≠ weapons
Demon Souls - Straight Swords
Dark Souls - Katanas.
I only need miquellas knight sword a Cape and a Greathelmet
*DEUS VULT DEUS VULT*
