Hi, I think you are referring to the "tabs", and that is up to you. I usually tape the tabs to the pole (for extra protection against it coming off) then tape the silk to the as well :)
im very interested in learning sabre, but my school doesnt have a weapon line (not even for rifle). we use flags. ive been trying to teach myself, but it is difficult without guidance and without any weapon experience. how can i learn exclusively sabre? i live in IL.
Hi Nat! Good for you wanting to learn sabre. Of course you will want to know the basic of flag first because that will help you with other forms of equipment. There are some videos on TH-cam you can check out but not all of them have in depth explanation. You can check out my other channel for videos that I have created, looking to do a sabre one soon. Or check out your local marching band or winter guard circuit because there might be a color guard clinic you can attend to learn more!
quick question- at my school we have these silks that have small loops of thick fabric on the inside- what are they- do you know? no one has any idea because we use velcro to secure ours.
Hello Macya, I tend to order color guard supplies from different places. For basic flag stuff I usually buy from Band Shoppe. Regular hardware stuff (like the bolt & electrical tape) you can get from Home Depot or Lowe's
@@grantisperanda7568 I have one more question for you, when you order the silk was it already stitched so all you have to do is apply it on the pole. Also if I order the 6 inch pole, what will the measurements of my flag should be ( by that I mean the size of my flag )
@@@cyab2001 np, yes if you but a flag silk then it is already sewn and ready to be put on the pole. I think you mean a 6 foot pole, if so you will want to get a 36X54
This has been one of the best videos for taping flag, thank you!
Glad you enjoy it!
Thank you very helpful!
Glad you enjoyed it!
My flag (silk) has really think white strips of fabric at the openings should I tape those or fold them in and tape the flag

Savannah Ley they are tabs one for the top and bottom of the flag.
for schools that use tape to secure flags the fabric tabs help secure the flag to the pole bettwr
How do you prevent the electrical tape from leaving residue on the silk?
Rebecca Shealy you can't unless your flag has taping tabs
If the black tape you are using is excessively glossy, it might leave residue. Try a dull electrical tape to prevent this.
Would the 11in marks work for a 5'6 pole?
Harmony Jayy yeah. 5 and a half feet is 5'6 since half a foot is 6 inches
SenpaiSarah thank you :)
Hey grantis, I was wondering where did you order everything from?

Does the stopper come off
Yes the stopper should come off. If a stopper is being difficult I recommend putting the stopper between your shoes and pulling to get it off.
are the bolts a 2 and 3 inch?
Yes, but you will want to find the best weight for the size of your pole and for your performer's manipulation
Buenas noches,de que material es el pole? Saludos desde México.
El poste está hecho de aluminio. Avísame si tienes más preguntas
Where can I get these weights?
You can get them at your local hardware store. I buy them from HomeDepot or Lowe's
Grantis Peranda thank you!
I wish I can do it
Everyone in my guard gets so bothered cuz I tape the top and bottom tape many times around
Less is more :)
I always use splicing tape on my cheaters. Then cover it with electrical tape
