- dshowcase.com - Learn how to properly tape a wooden Elite Rifle from DSI. This video shows you how the manufacturer tapes every wooden rifle before shipping it to your door. You'll also learn that it's important to order your wooden rifles pre-taped because the bolts and straps are added to the rifles AFTER the tape is added. This means that there are no pre-existing holes and no weakening of the wood due to screw removal.
In todays world, I'm really surprised these aren't made of resin, or strong plastic that can be weighted to match these wooden rifles yet withstand any type of abuse possible. Hell.....you could even make ones that light up, change colors and even strobe with LED lights inside. Hey....while we're at it, even sync them to the flash with all the other electronic crap that is used these days. LOL
we wouldnt need rifles that light up tho. thats not their intended purpose. they arent made to be flashy, their show rifles, and they need to match everyone elses. you can tape it differently with different colored tape, but youd have to retape it for contest
Also I own a really strong plastic rifle and it works great!
DSI makes endura rifles, made of a good plastic that is very difficult to break!

Is there a difference between strapping tape and shipping/packaging tape? Can i use it on my rifle?
The strapping tape that is shown in this video is similar to the shipping/packaging tape that has fibers in the tape. Please do not use clear packaging tape on your rifle. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Is it not recommended to tape the bolt with black vinyl taping before screwing it back on?? Bc that's what I have always done for my rifles
Putting vinyl tape on the bolt is perfectly fine ... especially if you're looking to change the color of the bolt to another color.
dshowcase my friends rifles shine has worn off the rifle, so she said next time she tapes it she’ll have to tape over the bolt, so that’s another reason.
Can I use like white electrical tape or electrical tape in general to tape it?

You can purchase the strapping tape from any authorized DSI retailer (the same company that you purchased your Elite Rifle). If you don't have a DSI retailer please contact us at (800) 893-8171 and we can assist you.
You can buy strapping tape at most stores.
Can you use 1" vinyl tape for the ends too?
Yes you can. However, since the width of the rifle is close to 1" thick, it may not completely wrap around the end of the rifle. You may need to use multiple pieces of tape if you choose to use the 1" vinyl.
can i use electrical tape instead lf strapping tape? i have both black and white electrical tape but i don't have the strapping tape
Bella Donna Turner strapping tape is a must when you tape rifles because they are easy to break without it
you need to have strapping tape underneath the electrical tape to support it. ive always used electrical tape overtop tho
Um so I can't take the bolt off. The screws are too tight in and I don't have the right screwdriver for it. Managed to take one off but it broke the only flathead screwdriver that worked. Help? In any form?
If a screw is in really tight such as in an instrument my band director uses a screwdriver that is only about 3 inches long including the handle. He says that it allows you to use more controlled force and so far it has always worked.
What if you don't have tape
Did you use only 1 type of tape or 2 and can you name them please😀
We recommend using 1" strapping tape directly onto the rifle first. Then cover the strapping tape by using 1" vinyl tape (and 3.5" vinyl tape on the ends).
What if the white pads at the nose and butt came off? I thought they were part of packaging and ripped them off 💀 what do I do??? Please anybody! My captain is gonna kill meeeee

honestly when mine fell off i used pads and toilet paper and it works fine 😭

Honestly, I’ve always used a maxi-pad for the padding on the ends. Works amazingly actually.

how much tape does it take for a rifle
You can tape multiple rifles with a single roll of tape so if you purchase one roll you'll have more than enough to tape your rifle.
If you dont drop it you dont need to tape it. Just sayin
