    If the cushion is quite contoured on the chair back and base (humanscale Freedom), should you glue the fabric to the foam before stapling? I basically think that if I pull it taught like your example it will be like a trampoline until the leather starts to sag…

    Lovely instruction vid - very nicely presented. Thanks so much. I would say the resale value is with a base-matching black for the plastic backing though - 😃👀 (You might try using plastic restorer (w plasticiser in it) instead of paint - sand lightly and apply. bc the black is in the plastic and not a coating. Nice even tone.)

    • @onlinefabricstore

      You will want to use either rebond foam or a really high density foam. You can find them here - www.onlinefabricstore.com/product-group-foam-and-padding.aspx?density=high-density
      or rebond foam www.onlinefabricstore.com/product-group-foam-and-padding.aspx?product=foam&product_sub_group=rebond-foam

    • @onlinefabricstore

      There might be some clips. Try sliding a knife around the edges and see if you can find any clips. Be careful not to break them, because it might be a little tough to get it back into place if its broken.

    Hi! I would like to se how to reupholster an Eames chair. I bought them white and the are so dirty. Thanks !!

    • @onlinefabricstore
      @onlinefabricstore  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is it the Eames lounge chair? Looks like it could be complicated and more than a DIY job. We'd suggest a professional upholsterer, but if you want to try yourself, pay close attention to how it's put together while you deconstruct it (take photos!), then use the old pieces of vinyl as templates to cut new fabric. Reverse the steps to put it back together as close as you can to the original.
      Before reupholstering, you could try cleaning it with a vinyl cleaner like this: www.onlinefabricstore.net/3m-marine-vinyl-cleaner-and-restorer-16-9-oz-.htm
      And if that doesn't work, another option is using a vinyl spray paint: www.onlinefabricstore.net/product-group-paint.aspx?product=spray-paint&product_sub_group=fabric-and-vinyl-spray-paint
      Good luck!

    The problem with old chairs is that they accumulate a lot of germs dust and dirt in the original stuffing so it would be useful on how to do that...

    • @onlinefabricstore
      @onlinefabricstore  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For some types of chairs, replacing the foam may be a little difficult if it has contours. But it would be done similarly to in this tutorial on how to reupholster a dining chair: www.onlinefabricstore.net/makersmill/how-to-reupholster-dining-chairs/
      It's easy to cut curves in the foam with a serrated knife and you can also round the edges with scissors if needed. We suggest high density upholstery foam: www.onlinefabricstore.net/product-group-foam-and-padding.aspx?product=foam&product_sub_group=upholstery-foam

      The picture of Richard O'Brien?
      Bro, you think that's a picture of me?
      Your defense to the objectively creepy comment you made on this video about chair re-upholstery is to poorly attempt to make fun of what you think I look like?
      I'd have thought that as a WebDev, you'd have a keener eye than that. Obviously you're not a very good one.
      2 Questions:
      1. Do Agilit know how desperate and objectively cringeworthy you come across?
      2. How many other TH-cam video's do you post comments on that are equally as uncomfortable as this one.

      Christine Bagshaw that’s true because I’m working with a new foam and it isn’t fitted for the way the chair is back piece I’d curved and oddly shaped. To get right to it, I’ve reupholstered many things and this has me frustrated. I am doing it for a friend for 20 bucks. I wouldn’t care and it would be a piece of cake. However the foam she dropped off is an inch thick and unfitting for this and it is good that top has a back piece to cover the the bunching that’s happening but this is bunching and bulgy all around the edge of the bottom and I am wondering if anyone has had this issue and knows a good fix?
