As a Pakistani woman, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for covering this case. Besides the gender inequality issue and the crimes against women, an issue to highlight is the parents of Boys who think they have a right to ruin a woman’s life just because they want a girl to fix their son they can’t fix themselves.
@asmagul8135 As awful as this may sounds, I wish women around the world woke up to the truth & stop birthing boys. This has been happening to us women around the globe, since forever. We need to start choosing better. Will never have peace with too many boys being born, while they are just as active un-aliving women at great rates & starting wars at the drop of a hat everywhere, always plunging everyone back into the dark ages with every war they start, which is always most devastating to women. We can't control them. Even mother earth is now acting bipolar because of the stress, these males & their greed are putting her through. The numbers & the history just shows who they are. If we keep pushing them out, nothing will change, not in 20-40-80-or 120 years. Nothing! Will never have peace either.
the fact that this took a diplomat's daughter to bring attention to things like this happening is absolutely disgusting, the rage i feel right now is immeasureable.
my thoughts exactly. im very glad he didnt get away w such an awful crime but had this been done to a common girl, i doubt as many actions wouldve been taken against him.
@create306 "Oh my house was looted" "Oh my cat was killed by someone for fun" "oh my mom died on the street because of mysogynistic culture that the government isnt doing much about" "Cant get mad about all of it tho, since i couldnt do anything about it"
@create306it's about taking lessons from such incidents & protesting against these incidents . Raising your son to be a noble person, not entitled sociopath. His parents knew about anger and ego issues. It also teaches us, not to lie to parents about friends and whom you have been meeting & Parents to be careful.
We all cried when he was given the death penalty. Noor's father would wear a Pakistani flag badge every day and appear in court, he said that Pakistan would give him justice. He also made sure that everyone had a place to sit and he also arranged food for whoever came to support his daughter. Thank you for covering this. This and Zainab's case will be the heaviest cases in Pakistan's history.

This man is a demon. I pray Noor rests in peace and the demon is taunted by evil spirits for the rest of his life. That includes the parents and the so-called therapists.
This is so upsetting. Recently - in England, a 17 year old boy stabbed a 15 year old girl and killed her - because she defended her friend for refusing flowers from him. Will there be a day where woman don't have to fear being killed for telling a man "No" ?!? This hit hard as this murder happened in my local area. The boy is in custody at the moment - I hope he never gets out. Edit: This comment was not made to say men don’t experience abuse too. Just because it’s reported less DOESNT mean it’s not a real problem.
Men get abused too. I've seen far more men be the victim of a abusive relationship than men.. no one should hurt anyone especially someone who loves them. when a woman is hit by her male partner, everyone comes to her rescue and supports her. But, when a man is hit by a woman, everyone just laughs it off like "oh my girlfriend is crazy too, I hate when she does that" he's too afraid of judgement to ask for help. Also, women are more likely to not let a man go out or be jealous or check his phone. Just saying.
@@tiffanybuie2263and everything you’ve said doesn’t change anything about op’s comment. I could say the same thing as you : I’ve seen more women being in abuse relationships than men. When a woman is abused a lot of times people, mainly men, ask if she was « a good wife ». YES abusive against men should be talked about more but don’t act as if victims of domestic abuse (both men a women) don’t get ignored when speaking out or even shamed. This has nothing to do with jealousy, those people are DERANGED, in both cases, those men KILLED just bc of rejection, it’s not just petty anger. Those poor girls were SHAMED for existing, open you eyes.
@@tiffanybuie2263give me one instance of a man being murdered because he refused a girl’s advances my point is you’re trying to make it seems like its equal but its not, this isnt even about abusive relationships, its plain misogynistic murder, all genders have jealousy and possessive tendencies, anyone saying into “women does it more”/“men do it more” without substantial evidence is falling into anecdotal fallacy and no way you used “my girlfriend is crazy” in that way, hysteria was diagnosed to women as a literal illness, for things like anxiety, when women would express any form of negative emotions, they just got shoved aside, not taken seriously and called crazy “everyone comes to her rescue…..” that is so false, like please research anything you’re saying, thats only portrayed in movies which is not reality, in reality, those (male) abusers become judges, politicians, celebrities etc and face little consequences
Judging by his father's reaction.....this might not be the first time he did something.....his father is 100% responsible and in some way killed her......imagine being calm knowing ur son has been raping and kidnapping someone....especially someone you possibly know since she was a child.....
Part of me thinks he was involved in the murder. Not in the sense of negligence but was actually actively involved in the plot. Like some kind of honor killing thing.
As a Pakistani myself I can't thank you enough to shed light on Noor's case. @lallianzama3549 oh please don't bring religion into this, not even the nationality etc... what this guy did here is solely on him. @@lallianzama3549 it has nothing to do with religion but rather then the mentality of controlling women and poor parenting. I’m from Bangladesh. During the lockdown, a 17 year old girl was assaulted so harshly she ended up succumbing to her injuries and dying. She had her whole life ahead of her, but since the rapist was her boyfriend (who was a minor), he got bailed in the same day. We still hold candlelit vigils and protests for the victim, it’s been a year since she’s been gone. Cases like these are so common it’s not even highlighted by mainstream media outlets anymore, sometimes I feel it’s for the better because the victim blaming is insane. It causes so much more pain for the victims families. Her name was Aurna Amin. May her soul be at peace. But even with such national outrage she got no justice. This is a very dark and sad reason behind why so many south asian women want to move abroad and leave their childhood homes behind

It's a crime that the parents covered up how disturbed their son was. Their behavior allowed this innocent woman Noor to unknowingly become his obsession and future victim. The behavior of the father whilst knowing what was happening to this woman is so callous that it appears he has a very disturbed personality as well, in my opinion. @Xoxososowi Exactly, pisses me off people going around insisting "Islam is not a violent religion" when that obviously does not apply across all groups. It is responsible for people to qualify that Islam is not *inherently* a violent religion, and that many sects are peaceful. But it is also true that many majority Muslim countries and communities have obvious problems with violence (esp. against women) that are deeply tied with the religion. We can't ignore that harm just because some people are Islamophobic.
@@hope1575No Islam is not a religion of violence, just because some groups of people who belong to a particular religion does something wrong, does not automatically makes the religion wrong or violent. Fyi, in Islam abuse is a sin, whether it's physical, mental or verbal abuse. And just because a "Muslim" is abusive or commits murder does not label Islam as a violent religion
@moradekeadeola1770 I didn't say that it universally is. Nor is it fundamentally a religion of peace because many groups are peaceful. No religion is monolithic; it is a complex social phenomenon, and nuance is key. But stop trying to excuse widespread systemic abuses and violence as just individual bad actors - that's not just one guy, that's millions of people who consider those things part of their religious practice. The development of such factions is not unique to Islam, but it should not be ignored.

the racist undertones of this comment... wow.... "the way women are viewed in this part of the world". Pakistan has had a women Prime Minister... has America or Canada had one yet? There are evil people everywhere, you shouldn't be generalizing
@@HS-ie8tj Well, no. You can find men like this everywhere, that's for sure, but don't let yourself be foolish enough to believe that the society someone lives in doesn't influence the way they are. Because it does. Almost every society, to a degree, tells men that it's shameful to get rejected by a woman and ok to defend your pride, that women have to be a bit more soft and polite than they have to be, etc. But societies like in Pakistan are way, way more patriarchic than let's say the UK. That's why crimes against specifically women are more common there. People are the same everywhere, as a basis, but it's greatly influenced by the society they live in, how they turn out and behave, since it greatly influences how they think and feel about things. So, saying the "where" doesn't really matter is kind of a slap in some victims and activists faces. So many try hard and risk all to make their country, their society, a better and saver one and you say (likely accidentally) that it doesn't matter, since it's the same everywhere anyway. Which is so far from the truth and that's proven by statistics and personal stories alike.
Thank you so much for humanizing Noor. I feel like she gets lost in all of this. I remember when this happened. I live in the city this happened and Islamabad is considered quite safe. This happened in a very posh neighborhood. Everyone was so shocked. I remember how traumatized all of us women were. It was so messed up. My med school professor was telling us to be careful and dress appropriately and stay safe ( as if that would do anything). We're fed up. We're sick of this. I remember we had many sleepless nights after this. It's so scary because we don't feel like anyone can protect us. If you're rich, you can pay off police officers. People don't want to call police for this reason or what's even worse, they get involved too. Police will literally arrest a couple for sitting on a bench but let people get away with murder. I pray this changes. And honestly, Noor's family did so much to change this. Her father has showed so much strength and said he will keep going for every daughter in Pakistan. Noor has no idea but she has changed the world.

With men you could argue that they are just unable to put themselves in another persons shoes, still a goddamn problem with how much of the narrative they still control when it comes to women's struggels but at least there is an explanation no matter how shitty it is, but other women who grew up with the same struggles and fears and still spout that idiotic drivel get my blood boiling.
I stumbled upon your podcast and I what is instantly mesmerized buy your compassion, next with your ability to tell incredible stories. It's absolutely no wonder that you have 2.2 million subscribers. Definitely one of the top two broadcast channels out on social media.
I was a follower of Noor's activism, and the news of her passing was incredibly heartbreaking. She was a brilliant young woman, and I can’t imagine the things she must have endured felt during those two days. It's truly heart-wrenching that one person's ego caused so much suffering & misery for another. Can only hope for some peace for her family and friends, and peace for her, wherever she is.
The murder suspect was identified as 27-year-old Zahir Jaffer who was arrested at the scene of the crime and taken to the police station. The parents and household staff of Jaffer were arrested for hiding evidence and complicity, because Noor made multiple escape attempts but the household staff refused to permit her to leave. The murder was premeditated as Jaffer later confessed to police that he intended to kill Noor if she refused to accept his marriage proposal. Zahir Jaffer was sentenced to death for the murder of Noor Mukadam by Islamabad session court in February 2022, while Jaffer's guards Iftikhar and Mohammad Jan were given ten years of imprisonment
He is from a rich family in a corrupt country like Pakistan. I suspect he is going through all the appeal procedures available and also his family is taking advantage of their political contacts. I doubt he will ever be executed.
@@suzy8109I hope that murderer will be executed and those accomplices will serve their sentences as they should be. For sure, Noor's family has connections as well. They will not let go of this case and will bring justice to Noor's death.
They should have given the accomplices life in my opinion. They had so many opportunities to let her free or call the police. They are complicit in her murder.
Doesn’t matter who your employer is or if you just “followed orders” they decided to help this monster instead of the innocent woman. Hope these people get what they deserve
I mean... having to say no in the face of a really powerful family whose also a psycho, that's a very difficult thing to do when you're the one standing across from him
This is why women are choosing to be with a bear than with men! A bear doesn’t act on ego. He knew her, dated her and he still murdered her when she didn’t want him anymore.
Well, women can also do evil. My mother abused the hell out of us and almost killed me. You also have cases where wives kill to try to get health insurance. Not all women or men bad. A Korean step mom killed her step son by putting him in a suitcase. You think women don't act on ego?
your sensitivity and the compassion you show for victims and their families restores a bit of my faith in humanity. it serves as a reminder that amidst so much horror, there are still good people out there.

The dad has a CLEAR LACK of respect for anyone’s life other than his son. Not only because he covered up NOORS MURDER but he called people to GO OVER when he is dangerous.
Something people dont understand in the west is that families can hold more power than government if you dont play by the rules designed to weaken the power of familes. They knew this, he was the next head have family and they didnt have time time to make another. Generations of work across centuries, wasted. This is in no way a justification but it is a lens through which you can understand the thought process of it. Its on the parents for not raising him better and reigning him in more as much as its his own fault.
I remember being in the university hostel when i saw this news for the first time. I was devastated. A couple weeks later another news started going viral of a missing child that was SAed and unalived by someone close. I remember losing control over my nerves and crying so hard all of a sudden that many students gathered around me..they thought someone close to me died. But it was my faith in humanity and relationships that died that day. I remember kept saying that if close relationships, our own people are threat to us then where we're supposed to go? Where is the safe place for us if a child is not safe.. if the man you think loves you, kills you brutally. 💔
every time u people forget that Rahman and Satan both live in form of humans in this world. There is not a single country where all are angels. We most of the time when remember the incident of APS , we think about terrorists but what about those teachers who sacrificed themselves for their students? we are so addicted to seeing negative side of things. You are a teacher and you are losing your faith, do you think you'll be able to teach the lesson of humanity to your students?
@SHAFAMATEEN I've come to a complete stop in everything I was doing previously just to reply to your comment because I feel the exact opposite. The original poster is not in the wrong here. There is nothing wrong with being shocked, disturbed, and feeling emotional when hearing about the torture and murder of an innocent woman. If anything, this teacher is showing more 'humanity' simply by being disturbed and upset over the death of someone she (assuming this teacher is female) didn't even know. Shedding tears in front of students shows that not only is it okay to cry, but that crying can help you heal-that it's okay to have a moment of "weakness." The amount of violence against women in this world is absurd and needs to stop. But, alas, here we are. We all know it will continue until the day we all die. This teacher did nothing wrong. May Noor rest in peace.
first of all sister, i didnt say that a person cant be weak, we all are humans and feel emotions, but I am just saying that parents and teachers are backbone of society, if a teacher tells me that i cant excel in my studies, i wouldnt actually bcz teachers' remarks make a great impression.@@zimtastic1171 I come from family of teachers, my father has received best teacher awards by government a lot of times and he says that Allah has given the "loh and Qalm" to teacher and he writes the destiny of his students by the will of Allah. I hate it when teachers who are supposed to make their students good Muslims and good Pakistani show faithlessness in front of their students, they need to be strong especially in front of students
This was so touching. I never understood why my dad left his country. He simply wanted a safe environment for my siblings and me. It’s so heartbreaking to hear and see how women continue to be treated 😭.
Thank goodness Noor was a Nepo baby herself otherwise her case really would have been swept under a rug. Daughter of a diplomat and they still tried so hard to hide the nature of her death. Disgusting. The whole family of Zahir is rotten
and the only reason why this case was solved was because the victim lost her life. even with all the evidences, there are incidents where these nepo baby culprits get away. crazy how money talks
Nora"s faith is not the question that should be asked. The question is why does the public not see her murderer for who he was and is. This is just how people think about when women are murdered by a crazy ass killer.
What are you talking about? There is no single "individual" who actually claims to not see this murderer for who he actually is. It's the media and the powers that run the world who try to hide these facts
Most people from the public can see it just fine, it's just a certain proportion of the netizens in Pakistan who are victim blaming Noor. The more we focus on these toxic comments the more it stays in the light. I just report them whenever I see them and move on. Platforms like youtube are actually actively removing comments like this, unlike facebook and instagram. Once a platform ignored my reports more than a certain number of times, I basically uninstall it
Stephanie I can't thank you enough for covering cases from Pakistan. The fact that horrible monsters like these roam around us and even COUNSEL CHILDREN is beyond terrifying. As a Pakistani I have to say this case kept us all up at night. I pray that Noor and her family get justice. Thankyou so much again for bringing these cases to light.
As a Pakistani girl myself, I remember surrounded by extreme depression during this case. And to this date almost 3 years after, I am still extremely devastated whenever I get reminded of what happened and how this rich wild boy keeps getting away with what he deserves one way or the other. Till this day he is not hanged 💔💔
I just hate the the parents, KNOWING their son was like that, would STILL try to set him up with a poor unsuspecting girl. And such an amazing girl too, how tragic! Also great plot twist that Zahir was an only child my stomach DROPPPED
@euoniautopia I've seen this before in mid eastern and far eastern cultures. Families have a son that is not right and the parents seek to marry him off but the girl is expected to work miracles but when that doesn't happen that way, she is blamed for his abuse; beating her and SA in marriage. And if she runs, or asks the parents for help, she is told to return to her husband. This gets into honor killings and the insane rationales that go with it. These countries are so primitive and barbaric one would think their leaders would make some effort to bring these countries out of the Dark Ages. This even extends down through Arabia and Africa. Meanwhile, in Africa there are those who are also practicing FGM. The whole thing where women are concerned is one great big horror show. 🍂
He has a younger brother and sister. We heard the sister was in the home at the time poor Noor was there but then later someone else said they saw her insta pics and she was in New York at that time...who knows. In this video Stephanie has made it sound like Zahir had a younger brother who was sick and then it turns out it was Zahir all along. But that's to make the story interesting, He has two younger siblings who are both pretty decent by all accounts. Zahir always had a history of violence, he had a case of domestic violence filed against him cos he had attacked his mother (I think that was in the UK and he'd been deported for that) and a rape case in the US for which he did some jail time cos he's a US citizen.@@MsTranthihai71
So true about the way SA is discussed. That poor young lady. She didn’t deserve a single horrible thing. She felt she was simply showing up to say goodbye and have peace for the end of a relationship. People have to try hard to put a single bit of pain on Noor. She is a beautiful woman that clearly left an amazing stamp on the world. I hope for peace in her family and they can recover from such a painful loss. You were a great woman, Noor. We know your story now ( thank you Stephanie ). I hope we can do our best to prevent such awful things from happening.
Thank you for presenting this story in the most respectful way possible while also explaining the cultural nuances of the country. I'm from Pakistan and I moved to a posh, high security area about 2 years ago. I was born into a lower middle class family who worked their way up the social ladder. I'd say I'm grateful and blessed but at the age of 22, I have begun noticing the way a lot of the kids who were born into wealth being sheltered beyond need. I used to think these kids were independent, and they are, until it comes to facing the law and being held accountable.
It sounds like everyone around him was used to this behavior. I’m willing to bet that the guard text to that dad saying “rude behavior” was just code for “he’s back at it” and the therapist knew of this man’s tendencies so that’s why the father contacted him and said “soliciting a woman” he thought the doctor could keep him from making the same mistake he may have made before.
That's what I thought too. I thought that the therapist knew he could be violent especially if that guy was a patient at the therapists work place. I thought therapist might have brought backup Incase they needed to subdue him due to his violent tendencies. But honestly now it's just weird..
Seeing all the surveillance footage broke my heart. Noor really kept fighting for her life. Shame on everyone who helped her stay captive in that monster Zahir’s house.
That poor woman. The pain and the terror she must have felt right up to her death. It's horrific. And the staff didn't let her leave?? What sort of environment was that? Such evil. I don't know why I'm surprised at the evil that human beings are capable.
After hearing the entire case & getting to the story regarding Abraham & Isaac, now I understand why you mentioned Zahir said Noor was a ‘sacrifice’. The celebration was actually Eid al-Adha, not Eid al-Fitri since it took place in July. It is disgusting how he violated her even after she passed & tarnished her reputation. I pray that Noor is sent to the highest level of heaven, she did not deserve any of this & I wish the world was better to women.
@@AnuradhaKarmakar any sane thinking person would never thought of Noor's reputation being tarnished, but then again you have people that are blaming her for being there in the first place. I am not a muslim or Pakistani so I have to ask if the culture or religion contributes to this line of thinking by these people, because honestly it's incomprehensible to me, that they can have such insane, inhuman rationale that the woman is even somewhat to blame.
@@kenhew4641 The culture is definitely to blame and religion is used as a crutch to encourage these sick depraved views about women, I am a Pakistani woman myself so I see this sickness every day. Her reputation logically should not be affected but people here blame her and some even call her a wh0re and say she deserved it, it's disgusting. My own mother sometimes slips and victim blames her
@@Maya_hee thanks for explaining. It also seems that it might be a generational thing. I hope future generation of Pakistanis will ditch this old, outdated patriarchal mindset. Having laws is not enough, when even after justice is served the public still holds the opinion that the victim especially women victims are to blame, for crimes commited ON them, not BY them smh
This is the first time in my life that I see a non-muslim, especially a US citizen speak reasonably about Islam and going the extra mile to explain the reasoning behind our customs and laws in a favorable way. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I'm sorry about everything my country says and does about your religion. I'm an atheist, I don't see religion as logical but I understand the emotional aspect, and you deserve much better than how you're treated.
@@ahmadmog5018 I still don't understand. I get how abhorrent it is and seen as. And I get that it's generally the ultimate punishment devised by most cultures, so that's fair enough for me. I guess it's something like _if you do the worst possible thing, your punishment will match as the worst possible punishment._
I'm sick and tired of women dying because they said no to a man. Noor had a whole life ahead of her and he took it from her. These monsters can’t keep getting away with these heinous crimes but this is the sad reality for women around the world.
As a practising Muslim i appreciate your understanding of Islam. As a man im disgusted by how women are treated in a societies across the world and more so in societies that favours males over females. It is unjust and crule the fear that women and girls have to live with throughout their lives. They face harassment, stalking, SA, violence, kidnapping and murder. This story makes me very sad for Noor and her family and enraged at this monster and his family.
It's your faith that allows men to treat women like this. Of course not all men do that but its allowed. That's the problem. Women have no rights in this faith.
Islam may not be a violent religion in theory, but it sure is violent in practice. Just like how Christianity is a loving religion in theory, but it's hateful in practice. The religion isn't the problem, the people are.
@@deviantmoore9744as a Christian I completely agree! Some people use their religion as an excuse to be horrible people, it truly goes past what their religion is about in the first place. It's such a shame :(
@@deviantmoore9744 As a Muslim I totally agree with you, and I find it quite disgusting that people use religion as a excuse for doing something so terrible
My dad used to have that same laugh... I had only ever seen my dad get choked up, but never cry. So when I answered the phone to him crying hysterically and telling me to come to my door, I knew my brother was gone... He took his own life, and my dad has not been the same. Sorry to drop that trauma bomb. That just really hit home for me.
Does it matter why she went there? Does people who blamed her doesn't consider she went there to have her final goodbye to someone she used to hold wonderful memories with? and you know what, regardless of what the reason she may have, nobody deserve to die, nobody deserve that.
Nobody deserves to be tortured for two days and raped only to then be killed and disrespected even in death and treated worse than cattle in factory farms. But misogyny makes people think someone, especially women, deserve that, for even just breathing
I wanted to say that I love how you address the issue of gender in most of your videos. Mental health is also a topic you put effort into addressing. In this one I also really loved how you addressed Islamophobia and misinformation in such a graceful way. 💐💐💐
Thank you for covering cases like this I’m Iraqi and Muslim and many men commit theses crimes in the name of islam and covering their family’s “shame”. Last January I visited my Iraq after seventeen years and while I was there a girl was killed by her farther her name was Tiba Al-Ali she was a famous TH-camr and her father was sentenced only for six months and now there’s so much outrage about the case and the awful things that many women face in the name of society and religion which men use to justify their horrible actions. Please look into it there’s no much English coverage about this case
Look at Nikah mut'ah. Women & even children are sold into a temporary "pleasure marriage". The woman are treated as property not people. I wish more attention was brought to Sharia law too. It is terrible the way some people twist & pervert a religion of peace into something so terrible.
I looked up her name after reading your comment and was horrified at what happened to her and how the law in Iraq protected her so called father. I couldn’t believe what I was reading, that Honour Killings (I despise that term) are a mitigating circumstance for the perpetrator and are seen as the victim provoked them. Therefore they basically asked for it but we can’t let you get away with murder so here’s a token sentence. Women’s lives mean nothing. I’m so glad there was public outrage. Your comment led me to look up beautiful Tiba’s story, then the story took me to the death (another Honour Killing) of another YT star in Pakistan, by her brother this time, organised by a Cleric or Mufti and her name was Qandeel Baloch. This was in 2017. It’s crazy how much this goes on. I agree Stephanie should do a story on Tiba or both. It makes me sad. Thanks for sharing. 🌸
I don't know what it is with Islam but you guys take your religion way too serious to the extremes and willing to kill people over it. This is what people did in the middle ages and you are still living in this period although it's 2023. You are nothing but barbarians and that's why the middle east is in a constant war. The middle ages were a constant war as well. It truly blows my mind.
@jojowynne233 Stephanie wouldn't be able to make videos on cases like these because so many viewers would hate on her because most honor killings (if we're being honest) are very closely related to the religion practiced. And Stephanie seems to obviously be very afraid to add on the religious aspect to these cases and simply just calls it tradition or conservatism.
another pakistani crime !! as a desi person, I am so so grateful you bring attention to cases that people outside of south asia would probably never hear about because cases like these are so important, especially against women because sadly countries like pakistan still struggle with gender equality and gender safety Edit: please ignore some of the replies here a whole war started and be aware of misogyny and islamophobia if you do read the comments
Absolutely! An estimated 1000 women are subjected to honour killing in Pakistan each year. These are only the cases that are reported, many cases go unreported. In this case the behaviour of the parents, the people who heard everything happening, and society in general after this case came to limelight, show how efd up the reality is!!
What you said at 1:01.36 about "she was R-worded" vs. "He R-worded her" is such an important distinction. This should be screamed at every journalist or anyone who reports about these assaults.
@@lexa2310that is a dubious statement and just untrue. Everyone recognize that large number of violence towards women happen everyday but unless it also highlight the perpetrator/s (who happens to be men large number of the time) then it's be treated as an accident instead of *violence*, leading us to focus to women/victim to defend themselves and prevent (by clothing and behavior) instead of looking the other way to the perpetrator.
@@carlawilliams2049i mean......it's not exactly out of a vacuum. the internet has been home to r*pe threats for as long as it's been accessible to people. it's the sheer scale of such violence that makes it harder to discuss openly and honestly, let alone without retaliation. verbally, no one threatens with terms like assault, SA, or "r-word." they exist purely in contexts where assault is being discussed and not threatened. if anything, i would think that might create safer spaces for people to talk about their experiences? it's an unfortunate consequence of the culture with a bit of a protective silver lining. it really just goes to show how deeply ingrained SA is into human culture 😞
Hi, Steph! Just wanted to let you know we have two Eid celebrations. Eid al Fitr and Eid al Adha, so when Noor died (i only just researched this btw, while listening to your video), it was Eid Al Adha coz thats the one right after Muslim pilgrimage season and where goats are sacrificed. Just checked the dates in 2021 when these events happened. Eid al Fitr is when we celebrate after fasting in the month of Ramadhan. Hope this clarifies. Love your content btw. Thank you for being so inclusive and standing for human rights ♥️ 담에 기회 있으면 한번 만나고 싶어요 :)
Thank you for covering this case. My friends and I will be donating gifts to our local women's and children's shelter on October 23rd as well as the local animal shelter. Noor will be remembered, in our small ways, for the rest of our lives.
It’s heart wrenching how women in many countries are treated, murdered, raped, beaten, and all around abused mentally and physically and are treated even less worth then a stray dog, you would think in modern days these atrocities would never be heard of anymore and women would be treated and valued as they should be for with out women this world would perish. PERIOD!!!!
Something that I have found so so crazy and appalling is the fact that if a young girl any woman I should say gets raped then she's the one that has to pay the price! Her own family will kill her for this ,it makes no sense to me it makes no sense at all!
Stephanie did a great retelling of the Abraham and Isaac situation. I’m a Christian African-American and you do your research and you do well so keep going
@@phumelelemthiyane7506 not enough emphasis on the horror of commanding a man to murder his son as a prank. abrahamitic religions are for psychopaths only.
@@phumelelemthiyane7506 the part where Steph thought that Ishmael is just the Ismalic version of Isaac's name, as if they are the same person 😂. They are not. Ishmael is Isaac's older half-brother. Ishmael was the fruit of Abraham r@ping Hagar, the handmaiden of Sarah (Abraham's wife and sister) some time before Isaac was born. Tbf, at least Steph admitted she does not remember the story perfectly.
What a gruesome murder. A thought came into mind about why Zahir's employees didn't open the door. Could it be possible that Zahir's father tried to gather up the therapists and others to show up to his son's house just to get murdered so that the "robbery plot" would hold? Hence why the 3 staff employees inside didn't open the door. They want the two groups to break in so it would look as if Zahir is being mobbed. If Zahir's gun didn't malfunction, I'm pretty sure there should more casualties that night. Zahir and his family are selfish and evil af!
Holy shit. I guess it is possible. The way the family handled the situation is insane. I imagine it is difficult to help an addict with serious mental illness but it seems to me like they straight up enabled him as long as they could keep it under wraps and keep the family image clean.
I actually thought of that as well. Even when they were calling random "family friends" in hope of them showing up at their house so he could claim that the one who broke in was the one who killed Noor, and that he killed them because of that.
Apart from the story, I LOVE how she cares about not offending people on their religion how she always says “ correct me if I’m wrong” She is such a kind woman.
I could correct a lot in this one regarding scripture and the story of Abraham and his son that he by faith almost sacrificed. The son was not Ishmael. It’s a beautiful story that shows us that Jesus was in the Old Testament and this story is a profound prophecy of The One and Only God who came to save us all of our sins. Everyone should read this amazing story. Praying for everyone who sees this that the Holy Spirit will show Himself to you🙏
So long as shes asking muslims she will keep thinking killing is a huge sin for them. They have lying about it built into the religion, it's called taqiyya. They'll point to the 1st half where that is very true but will ignore the 2nd half and the fact it dictates the 2nd half takes precedent if there's a contradiction when talking to people outside of the faith
A few weeks ago I left a comment on one of your videos where I urged you to talk about this case so thank you so much for covering it. You have a huge platform and I hope your platform can become a source of shedding light on cases like this one where media attention can possibly lead to victims receiving justice.
I can't even imagine the pain Noor's family have experienced knowing their beautiful child was held captive, was tortured, and was then decapitated by someone they once trusted! This is such a tragic and senseless case that brings to light untreated mental illness and entitlement of a person who could not take "No" for an answer. So heart breaking 💔
"She wanted to be sacrificed" is the most messed up thing any human with a heart could say 😭😭😭😭 RIP to the girl who became a victim to his madness 🥺🥺🥺😭
Helllo, i just wanted to share i was never ever a fan of crime podcasts or anything like it because I always thought talking over these topics are disrespectful and almost creepy how people obsess. I gave one youtuber a shot and remembered ranting for like 30 minutes straight to my boyfriend how disrespectful she was of the victim. Your video one day autoplayed and you complete shifted my mentality. It was so refreshing to see someone be so beautifully empathetic with the victim and celebrating their life while being delicate of their tragic deaths. You are an exemplary display of how these topics should be discussed and I think EVERY podcaster, youtuber, and even television producers of docu-series etc need to take a page from your book on how to discuss heinous crimes!!! Bravo.
for real, her vibe is so much better than any true crime i've heard so far. wendigoon is another one, though he doesnt go as in depth on the victims he is still very good at keeping both the human elements and storytelling skills very present
So a man can decide on a whim to sentence a woman to death for something as small as hurting their ego, but a man can’t be sentenced to death for committing the crime? Personally, life without parole sounds cruel and more deserving. We r made to be caring to everyone even at our own expense and sometimes lives. I see misogynistic comments on the daily on IG. Dads, moms, or any guardian should be teaching their sons to protect our girls not treat them like a piece of meat. RIP to Noor, she was so beautiful and truly a gift. Her family seems so lovely and she should be here with them. Plz be careful girls, this world is messed up and we have to look out for each other.
She was 27 years old and the daughter of a former diplomat, Shaukat Mukadam. She was murdered at a house in an upscale neighborhood, Sector F-7/4, of Islamabad, on 20 July 2021. Noor was held hostage for two days, tortured with a knuckleduster, then decapitated with a knife. Noor was raped before being murdered.
I shudder to think if Noor was from some tribal group or from a simple poor family, this ‘Influential and rich’ family of the perpetrator would have buried the case and it would not even come in the media…forget the court of law! How evil is this!! Again a brilliant, knowledgeable, beautiful, kind and bright woman butchered just because this horrible vile monster did not like being said NO to!!!!! Parents need to raise better children to be good people and responsible citizens! Rest in peace beautiful Noor✨😔 This world lost a radiant light🌟
- Dear women never go and see your Exes after a nasty break up or whatever because you never know when someone will switch up. There’s a repeated pattern and similar cases that has been highlighted over past cases. We are in a society whereby women are not safe anywhere. Only a sick, deranged, cruel and psychopath can do this to a human being. At what point did he not even think about his actions smh
Yet so many Americans and other Westerners think these things are an exaggeration and not happening. 🙄
Or just deal with them,as messed up as they are..😒 many times not even by choice!! 😔
Damn girl that is a universal issue but well said!!
"Boys will be boys" = boys will be awful unless corrected :
the fact that this took a diplomat's daughter to bring attention to things like this happening is absolutely disgusting, the rage i feel right now is immeasureable.

This is so upsetting. Recently - in England, a 17 year old boy stabbed a 15 year old girl and killed her - because she defended her friend for refusing flowers from him. No, there’s always going to be sociopaths who kill both men and women. That’s the reality of it
Men get abused too.
No religion is monolithic; it is a complex social phenomenon, and nuance is key. the racist undertones of this comment...
Which is so far from the truth and that's proven by statistics and personal stories alike.

yes, especially if the victim is a woman. Or just anything besides a straight cis man honestly... Can't even let Noor have some peace and respect in death. Disgusting
I blame the family for setting him up with an innocent woman. They knew how horrible of a person he was and I’m pretty sure at least one of his female childhood acquaintances had to have complained to them about his behavior. The family tried to cover up how deranged he was and practically lured an innocent person into a horrible situation.
The weird behavior of everyone around Zahir Jaffer is sus, like this is not the first time he held a woman captive in the house. 😮
I'm also from Asia and arranged marriages are very common. One of my distant relative got married to this "wonderful man" and on the wedding night, she realised her new husband is crazy. She called her dad the next morning, asking to initiate divorce. The husband's family said "oh he's just a little autistic, he has anxiety yada yada yada". Okay fine. A week later they go on a trip and she tears her sandal strap. Her husband was screaming and immediately slapped her right in front everybody for "breaking the sandal strap".
This girl went home immediately, called her dad, said she is divorcing this insane man and saved herself from the trouble

Honestly, I blame the guy's parents. They hide their son's mental illness from his fiancée, they've been covering up for him his entire life (drug party the ended with 4 women dead), they are still trying to cover up for him when he made the shift to murderer AND even though this a family friend's daughter their knee jerk reaction was "how do I hide the body". Yup, even in US, the way women are viewd by some women.
For real. Other issues like racism are being fought and taken seriously, but for some reason misogyny is still viewed as “normal”. I guess thats what happens when the world is dominated by males.

Shedding tears in front of students shows that not only is it okay to cry, but that crying can help you heal-that it's okay to have a moment of "weakness."
The amount of violence against women in this world is absurd and needs to stop. But, alas, here we are. We all know it will continue until the day we all die.
This teacher did nothing wrong.
May Noor rest in peace.

Power and influence can help you in anything.
Whats nepo by the way?
I freaking love whenever we hear Mr. mango say a bewildered “Ok..?” 😂 like yes we are all confused together
Nora"s faith is not the question that should be asked. The question is why does the public not see her murderer for who he was and is. This is just how people think about when women are murdered by a crazy ass killer.
But the public in general absolutely sees it. It's just that some, too many, don't. But the overall public does.
Her name was Noor, not Nora. Just a small correction❤
her name is not Nora but Noor Muqadam
What are you talking about? There is no single "individual" who actually claims to not see this murderer for who he actually is. It's the media and the powers that run the world who try to hide these facts
Most people from the public can see it just fine, it's just a certain proportion of the netizens in Pakistan who are victim blaming Noor. The more we focus on these toxic comments the more it stays in the light. I just report them whenever I see them and move on. Platforms like youtube are actually actively removing comments like this, unlike facebook and instagram. Once a platform ignored my reports more than a certain number of times, I basically uninstall it

Yes it's sickening 😢
He isn't. He has a sister. We know his family
@euoniautopia
I've seen this before in mid eastern and far eastern cultures. 🍂
So, doesn't he have a younger brother? The sick younger brother is actually Zahir himself?

“He’ll come around” “he can come to JAIL” I couldn’t agree more. I was like “YUPPPPP” out loud

@@JennstuartIshmael is the Islam version, I think it differs a bit in the christian version
It's not about the scripture written in the bible stop makung a fuss about it .@@Jennstuart
As a black person when u have a few people in your group that does bad it really makes the whole look bad
im glad to know you acknowledge that

I can't even imagine the pain Noor's family have experienced knowing their beautiful child was held captive,
was tortured, and was then decapitated by someone they once trusted! This is such a tragic and senseless case that brings to light untreated mental illness and entitlement of a person who could not take "No" for an answer. So heart breaking 💔
even animals such as dogs, understand the word No...please do not try to erase his guilt and fault for his chosen actions.
@@redwolfdarkmoon5326 Please re-read my post. I stated that he didn't heed the word, "No." There is no excusing his behavior. No one is trying to!!
"She wanted to be sacrificed" is the most messed up thing any human with a heart could say 😭😭😭😭
RIP to the girl who became a victim to his madness 🥺🥺🥺😭
She said he ran out of the house as we see him jump from the balcony
Thank you so much for being so respectful to other religions and cultures. You're a true gem.
😔rest in peace to her
😡 her ex and killer can go rot in prison and hell too.
He better get what's coming to him, swift & sure justice :
and what do you want to know ? How she was raped ? She basically opened her legs in the first place
34:00 It looks more like he jumped out of the house from a second story rather than run out of the house
Yea
- Dear women never go and see your Exes after a nasty break up or whatever because you never know when someone will switch up. There’s a repeated pattern and similar cases that has been highlighted over past cases. We are in a society whereby women are not safe anywhere. Only a sick, deranged, cruel and psychopath can do this to a human being. At what point did he not even think about his actions smh
