Emma Stone's reaction to Lily Gladstone's win was so amazing. She didn't care if she loose or win, she just happy and being supportive that Lily won the award. She has been in her position before since she won 3 SAG Awards before (two for Best Ensemble and one for Best Actress) so she knew what it's like for Lily to win that award. So happy to see actresses supporting each other 🥰

I think many experts forgot that fellow actors respect Cillian a lot. People felt that Paul has been in the industry for so long and forgot that Cillian had been in the business too for decades and he is also well loved. Cillian is even well loved because of Peaky Blinders, yes its not an Emmy award winning series yet a lot of people and voters love this series. Cillian won because he truly gave one of the most amazing performances this year as playing Oppenheimer is truly challenging.
I think most people were cheering for Paul because it played into their heartstrings same what I felt for Viggo at Greenbook. But SAG, BAFTA and Oscars would vote for whom they felt truly gave the best actor thats why Rami Malek won over Viggo.
On the other hand, I can feel that Gladstone will win because of her narrative and her performance. Its not about who has the biggest nor the loudest role who will automatically win. Its not about the screentime, i mean Anthony Hopkins won for Silence of the Lambs. Even in 2019 when Glenn Close has more screentime over Olivia Colman who felt to me a supporting role because Rachel Weisz is the lead, still Colman won.
I still believe that the industry and the academy voters will both give the wins to both Cillian and Lily especially we shouldn’t forget that Oscar members now are very diverse and has a lot of international voters.

Cillian Murphy absolutely deserves all the awards. This is also long time coming for him. He was nominated for Golden Globes Best Actor for "Breakfast on Pluto" in 2005. And although he didn't have so many lead roles, most of his performances in supporting roles are so good. I'm happy he's finally being recognized!

It was always Cillian, if you have followed the other awards shows, there are so many videos of actors talking about how impressed they were with what Cillian did in Oppie. Teo yoo, American Ferrera, I mean the titans in his own cast. The other actors see him as a kind of journey man actor, and during his sag retro they seemed adamant in telling him how much his underrated films mean to them, and has more views than all the nominees combined. That's before we even get into the statistics.

So, I’m gonna say the hot take.
The wrong Robert keeps winning. Downey’s work is superb in Oppenheimer and it’s a nice career capper for him. He can do what he wants from now on and let him be happy.
But, Robert DeNiro does subtle, landmark work in KOTFM. His hand gestures, his propensity for verbosity, his smile barely hiding the grimace underneath. Watch that scene where Ernest tells him of Lily’s pregnancy. DeNiro’s slow burn of rage and realization of being thwarted. The way he rubs his hands to avoid bashing in the table and Ernests’s face. And that forced “Blessings on this house” spoken up to the line of a curse. It’s mesmerizing and terrifying all at once.

you can feel it in the room when gladstone won sag. it's so palpable. when she was giving the speech you can see that many of them were tearing up for her win. the biggest body of oscar voters are actors, and they are going to vote for her over emma because her narrative is so huge and undeniable, just like michelle won last year. if she is to win, she will become the first indigenous to win an oscar of any category. also emma had already won an oscar. like cate last year, had she not won for la la land, then they would give it to her for poor things. remember lily is no slouch either. she has won so many critic awards over emma this season, and there is a reason why movie critics picked her over emma.

I think that Sandra Huller for Anatomy of a Fall could pull off a major shocking upset over both Emma Stone and Lily Gladstone based on that Huller is also in The Zone of Interest and she winning at the Caesar awards for Best Actress for the Anatomy of a Fall, that I think there could be vote splitting between Stone and Gladstone.

That would be a major upset like we hadn't seen before. No actress won this award in leading category after the invention of SAG since 1994 without being nominated there (Hüller wasn't nominated), also no actress won since 1985 without winning at least one of the precursors (SAG, GOLDEN GLOBES, BAFTA - Hüller lost all). Stats are there to be broken but not when there is the it girl of Hollywood delivering career best showy work in a bigger film and another highly raved performance In a major Oscar film with THAT NARRATIVE. Also Hüllers character is distant, cold sometimes with subtitles and other two are very likable in english. Good luck with that.

Oppenheimer :- Best actor, Best supporting actor and a nom for best supporting actress. Then Florence Pugh, Gary Oldman, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek, Kenneth Brannah, Tom Contei, Matt Damon etc. ... That was always going to be tough to beat for best ensemble. Even if the cast and their family only voted for themselves it would have been halfway there.😀

I keep seeing a lot of comparisons between Michelle Yeoh winning Best Actress last year and Lily Gladstone this year, and I do not get it.
Michelle had DECADES of work behind her, in the most beloved movie of the year, in a role where she got to do it all -- comedy, drama, action, and the story is so cathartic. I stood up and clapped in my living room when she won!
None of that is the case for Lily Gladstone. This is her first significant role, Killers of the Flower Moon is far from the most beloved movie of the year, and the performance is quiet, tragic, and reserved.
Emma Stone should win Best Actress hands down. Her performance in Poor Things as Bella will be talked about for decades. She demonstrates mastery of her craft in that role on another level.
In my opinion, Sandra Hueller in Anatomy of a Fall, is the only real competition if we are talking about actual merit and the performance it's self and not some other factor like awards narrative.

Unfortunately, for the Academy in recent years especially, merit not first important things, they following woke politics and diversity, acting achievements are not priority if they have chance to proof “Oscars are so white” not true. White people “guilt” over indigenous people!
British academy didn’t nominated her, 6 actresses nominees and she wasn’t there.
And saying that Lily have big chances because she’s minority and “history making” thing would be not fair , but it is the fact! They themselves pushing and campaigning her awards based on that fact! This is why they pushed her in leading category, purely strategic reasons!
Agree about Michelle, not really fair comparison!

While all actresses are wildly talented, I think there is something to be said about Lily as a presence actor. There is something about Lily’s energy that captivates every time she is on screen similarly to Da’Vine, Viola, Taraji, Meryl, just to name a few. I think there is also something to be said about Lily having less creative freedom in her role as she had to portray the real emotions and character of a real person in a film discussing a very real topic (as does any actor that partakes in a biopic of any sort). I will say if Lily wins, it is because she gave a beautiful performance and it shouldn’t be seen merely as a concession because Emma has already won. It would be well for deserved for any of the nominees, but I personally would love to see Lily win

At this point, it feels like the Oscars are going to be a real snooze-fest. I am disappointed that Paul Giamatti didn't win. I am still hoping for an upset at the Oscars. I watched both movies. I have watched "The Holdovers" 3 times now to once for "Oppenheimer". I prefer the small movies and performances to the blockbusters. One of my favorite moments from SAG was the presentation by Greta Lee (Past Lives) with “Coda” star Troy Kotsur who won the Oscar for best supporting actor. I have also watched Past Lives 2 times and in fact purchased both The Holdovers and Past Lives because they are the types of movie I can watch again and again. Not so much Oppenheimer. It was an excellently crafted, written, and acted movie but once is enough for me. I thought Emily Blunt was the standout in the acting category for that film although I am thrilled with all of the wins for supporting actress by Da'Vine Joy Randolph and I loved her speech at SAG. I also prefer Robert De Niro's performance to Robert Downey Jr.s. However, that looks like a lock for Downey.

I think this year has been interesting. There has been competition with some things locking up while others are still question marks… but in the end only one can win. I’m loving who has been chosen this year. I like that Lily & Emma & even Sandra have won awards. I love that Paul has been recognised as well as Cillian. Oppenheimer is my favourite film & yes it will probably win a fair chunk of awards but other films will take certain category wins home too.
CILLIAN MURPHY - he’s been my Best Actor all year & he is one of my favourite actors of all time. I’m over the moon Cillian is having his moment. No longer under the radar & very much deserved in my eyes. Oppenheimer was a tour de force performance from him that left me completely floored. An actor hasn’t done that to me since Heath Ledger. It’s nice to see the subtle, layered, nuanced, internalised yet emotive performance get recognised. That is rarely the case. So go Cillian. I want to see him with an Oscar in his hand so damn bad.
LILY GLADSTONE - always been my favourite to win in Best Actress. Lily owned Killers of the Flower Moon for me. She’s the heart, soul & moral compass of that film. She’s reserved yet powerful. She’s internalising her true feelings but you can see her emotions simmering underneath. The story surrounds her character Mollie… it’s her town, her home, her family & her people which Lily carries with her in her amazing performance. She’s the emotional gravitas of the movie. I hope she wins the Oscar!
Both Oscar wins could be historic for them both 🤞🤞
Well done to Robert Downey Jr & Da’Vine Joy Randolph on another win. Their sweep is ongoing. Yay!
Oppenheimer DOMINATION continues!!! It’s been a long time since my favourite film has won like this. Not since Lord of the Rings. So I’m happy for all Oppy’s success. 👏

Some of my favorite movies won "minor" awards since then, or I might get actress or actor right by just guessing. But, this year is the first year since The Artist that my favorite movie is the frontrunner. I find that comforting. I'm finally on the same page of others. Nice to see Lily Gladstone win, although, like you I also think that Emma Stone’s performance was the best of the year, just la C. Blanchett was, by far, the best last year.

Guess the internet is gonna get its way again and make sure Cillian Murphy gets the Oscar. They did it with Brendan Fraser and so the internet will win again!

I’ve been saying all season that Lily is COMING!!! I’m so happy for her she deserves it. I LOVED Emma’s reaction to her win. Trust me these actors and actresses know what they’re in the presence of. Just imagine Michelle Yeoh and Halle Berry presenting Best Actress to Lily😢.

Hüller would be a major upset like we hadn't seen before.
