I felt pretty split on best actor, happy with either Giamatti or Murphy, up until I re-watched Oppenheimer last week. Jesus that performance is stunning, and I am now convinced that despite how great Giamatti is, this should not be close. Cillian deserves this win.
It's not even close though. I loved Cillian in Red Eye, buts it's not an oscar worthy performance. The Likeablity of a character shouldn't come into it. What Cillian did with Oppenheimer is a performance for the ages.
I didn’t understand the buzz for Cillian or RDJ or Blunt, after I watched Oppenheimer recently… RDJ seems to be just playing himself, Blunt has given much better performances than this and Cillian’s performance is good but pretentious just like the movie…
Emma stone is campaigning in the right manner Poor things is doing very well in theatres right now. Shes giving late night show interviews. Showing her winning personality. 😊
I understand there is always this career narrative for Oscars, but I think thats one of the biggest issues with it. Its the reason so many actor didn't win when they should, and later when they are older goes on to win over someone else who had a more deserving performance. Its a cycle that keeps on happening, and it should be stopped. Just give the award based the performance itself, nothing else.
I really feel like Cillian is the most deserving of a win this season. Not only for being the face of the across the board frontrunner of the season, but for really having excelled at a incredibly difficult task. It’s a major biopic, 3h long, and he’s in almost every scene and delivering a subtle but powerful performance. I would hate for him to lose that award when he finally got his chance to lead, specially with Downey Jr. winning for sure… imagine Oppenheimer winning almost everything but THE OPPENHEIMER being the one going home empty handed, I’m depressed just thinking about it!
Just say you'd personally want Cillian to win. The whole "deserving" angle is completely arbitrary. They're all great performances, they're all "deserving." Being the face of the frontrunner for Best Picture does not mean you're more deserving. There have been plenty of examples of best-picture frontrunners where the lead actor didn't win. It doesn't mean anything.
@@krislyons2793 No… I’ve been saying for years that Bradley is overdue for a win so even supporting Cillian I spent months saying that I still thought Bradley could be the one to take it this year. But then I saw Maestro, and I saw The Holdovers. None of them leave the same impact for me. So sure, it’s my personal preference, but I’m genuinely saying that I think he deserves more than the others (that of course also have great performances). And I could be wrong, I thought Cooper deserved more for A Star is Born and he lost… Edit: And about being the leading character in a frontrunner. I said it was not just because of that. And it’s also true that a lot of the times the lead in a movie is not the reason why the movie is good, so you’re right. It doesn’t necessarily mean something, but in this movie, it does.
Everything you said!!! Just imagining Cillian not winning & Oppenheimer winning pretty much everything else is gut punchingly terrible. Especially when in my eyes Cillian is what makes the film truly work. His performance tells the story of this iconic man. All the spectacle in the world can look amazing but he had to become the man & he knocked it out of the park.
@@krislyons2793I agree none are more deserving than others… all of them are brilliant actors but in terms of the awards race saying “deserve” is more like saying “preference” but I get what Lucas is saying too. I think he might have just meant sometimes you can see the hard work & commitment that went into a role beyond just the acting. Cillian lost weight, he changed his accent & voice, he learned another language, changed his posture. He’s in almost every frame for 3 hours. I take that all into account when thinking of why Cillian is my preference therefore just as deserving. Does that make sense?
I think SAG might go 4/4 with the BAFTAS this year. So my final predictions are Emma Stone, Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Oppenheimer (for ensemble) & John Wick for stunts!
I love all the nominees in Best Actor & believe all of them will one day will have their moment. For me it’s no contest… this should be Cillian Murphy’s year & his moment. Cillian Murphy should absolutely win SAG & the OSCAR. The way I walked out of Oppenehimer months ago & have not been able to forget his masterful performance. It’s unforgettable, unshakable & timeless imo. I think his role is the one we’ll still be thinking of in 10 years when we look back & be glad we bestowed him with the awards & recognition.
Even if he wins here, I’d still confidently predict Downey Jr. for the Oscar. I think Gosling absolutely needed to win Critics Choice to be competitive
Oppenheimer and Barbie are most likely to win SAG ensemble, with American Fiction being a huge possible upset. The thing about Oppenheimer though is that the main cast has less interactions with each other than Barbie, American Fiction, and even Killers of the Flower Moon. It could also possibly explain why Poor Things got left out. SAG seems to REALLY like movies where the cast is very tight and has constant interaction with each other. Movies focused on family (EEAAO, CODA, and Parasite) tend to do very well, hence why I think American Fiction has a shot. If Barbie or Killers of the Flower Moon DO win SAG ensemble, then they have a VERY big chance at competing with Oppenheimer at the Oscars. However, if Oppie wins SAG, then the Best Picture win at the Oscars is 100% locked-in.
@398 Let me expand on my original, perhaps too cryptic, comment. Both the Screen Actors’ Guild and The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences bestow the Best Actor Award (BAA) and the Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA), each with a different intent. The purpose of the BAA is to recognise an outstanding performance in a single movie, while the LAA is designed to reward an actor for producing a consistently fine body of work extending over a considerable number of years. The reason that this distinction is particularly important currently is because of the presence of Paul Giamatti among the nominees for BA. Some critics, perhaps because they are unclear as to why Giamatti may have received a nomination, have suggested that, should he win the BA statuette, the primary reason would be that The Academy wished to honour him for his many years of fine work, as distinct from more specifically recognising his performance in The Holdovers. Moreover, the justification for The Academy’s use of the BAA rather than the LAA to honour Giamatti would be that the actor is not yet old enough to receive the LAA. While this is speculative, your report regarding Paul Newman and Al Pacino suggests that it may, in fact, turn out to be a quite reasonable assumption in this case. If the above scenario were to play out come Oscar (and SAG) time, I believe that it would be a grossly unfair outcome, as it would deprive Cillian Murphy’s singular performance in Oppenheimer of the award it so richly deserves, and would go against the original intention behind the BAA. On the other hand, awarding Paul Giamatti the LAA would better represent the real purpose of the Academy (which was suggested above), and, it could be argued, would be a fairer solution as it would allow The Academy (and SAG) to recognise the achievements of both actors.
@@frankathl1 My point was simply that Pacino and Newman are examples of two actors who received Oscars for frankly lesser roles because voters simply felt it was their turn after long careers with no Oscar. Same thing with Scorsese winning for The Departed. Again, this was one of his lesser films but voters simply felt he was due. I agree that this should not come into play, but it does unfortunately.
@@Pacman398 I always never understood the undervaluing of pacinos performance in scent of a woman. Its a great performance that is fairly showy with his blindness and yelling, its a beloved film, it was loved by the academy as well with nominations in picture director and screenplay. And the creme on top is that he hasn't won one yet.
@@marcochen9117his performance is not “undervalued”, most people just have a different system of value judgment than you seem to. They are not undervaluing it for winning, they just don’t believe it’s a good performance
With Best Actress being between Emma Stone and Lily Gladstone, you could definitely say that either way that category is set in STONE. I'll see myself out now.
People in the comments are trying to predict the SAG awards like the Oscars and not like the Screen Actors Guild 😅 It’s not crazy if Giamatti wins here at all. Doesn’t mean Cillian won’t still be the favorite for the Oscars
It is very funny that you do NOT realize that Giamatti is only 9 years older than Murphy. They are both VETERANS, actually, they started at the SAME time. Oppenheimer, Stone, Murphy, RDJ, DJR are winning both SAG and Oscars, it is over. And John Wick is winning stunts.
Everyone’s saying that Giamatti has a really good career narrative, but I think it’s important to remember that he’s already won a SAG award. Not only is Cillian the face of the big awards movie of the year, but he also has a very good career and he HASN’T already won a SAG award
@@jamielee7943 oh yeah just realized that, all though one of them was for an ensemble and two of them were for TV shows, so that is a bit different. But yeah, it would be awesome for Cillian to win the award, I’m crossing my fingers for him
@@MrGoat-cd8lt If Cillian had won 4 SAG’s I’d definitely be like give this one to Paul then. Pass the glory around I say 😃 BUT GO CILLIAN this time around 🤞
Paul doesn’t have a strong narrative as Brendan ..Whatever you said for Paul goes for Cillian too..He is respected and beloved in the industry..Also he is the one who is overlooked for all these years..Paul has 4SAG and Emmy/GG..The one who deserves the most is Cillian… You can just say ‘I want Paul to win’ so you can make more videos Stop pushing the narrative..
I don't know about you guys, but oppenheimer is winning ensemble at this point. But i don't know about Best Actor. It's going to be tough, but if Cillian Murphy wins SAG, this race is over
@rioulreviews5204 Probably but don’t forget other people have won Golden Globe, Critics Choice, and SAG and still lost (Chadwick Boseman, Glenn Close, Eddie Murphy)
Finally, I'm watching the most credible predictions from you guys among others. I always watch your videos and I rate you A-1 among the rest. You explain your opinions intelligently, unbiased, and sometimes funny but entertaining.
Stone's performance seems better to me than Gladstone's, that argument should win, not that they owe you something because of your nationality or ethnicity. @@JJKayBen
@@JJKayBen country owes native americans in movies too. I agree, but there is not only purpose for creating history. Emma did better performance compared to lilly. Even though sandra much did better.
It's not my favorite movie of the year but I think its cast acted extremely well as a true Ensemble: Barbie Plus the nomination in Stunts shows a bit of strength. It might be this year's Black Panther or Hidden Figures.
I feel like the only real cast members that did an extremely good performance was robbie and gosling. The others imo ranched from meh to fine. The obvious winner is oppenheimer, where each smaller character had their own moment like gary oldman, rami malek, casey affleck among many others.
To me it’s funny how Cillian Murphy has basically the same narrative as Giamatti, while being more popular because of Peaky Blinders and Nolan films but somehow “people want to give it to Giamatti”. Tell me where a film that everyone has been giving absolutely everything where the main actor is the film and the reason the film works but he’s going to lose because “I Love Giamatti, he’s funny”. That makes absolutely zero sense.
Cuz people are being delusional. No evidence in the past ten years supports a Giamatti win. Heck, Cooper is closer at getting the SAG than he is. You’d think after the EEAAO sweep last year, ppl wouldn’t be so reluctant to predict Cillian but here we are. It’s literally because people want Paul to happen not because they have actual facts and support to back it up.
@@isaacrichter3269 yeah that’s true. I was definitely thinking more traditional dramadies, like rain man or terms of endearment or prizi’s honor or Annie hall that were more prevalent at the Oscar’s through the 70s and 80s. The artist is such a transparent piece of prestige bait, nostalgia-core, genre kabuki that it slipped my mind. I mean, it’s technically a comedy, but it’s not very funny, it’s technically a love story but it’s not very romantic, it’s technically a drama but it’s not very interesting
I’m going 4 for 4 with BAFTA for the acting categories at SAG, I just can’t imagine Oppenheimer being the runaway front runner for Best Picture and many categories somehow Cillian doesn’t come along for the win, it just doesn’t feel right.
My predictions: Ensemble: Oppenheimer Actor: Cillian Murphy Actress: Emma Stone Supporting Actor: Robert Downey Jr. Supporting Actress: Da’Vine Joy Randolph Stunts: John Wick Chapter 4
I've been saying this season don't underestimate American fiction, and i think American Fiction has a shot to win sag ensemble, as it's everyone the Sag often likes in SAG ensemble, that being comedy-drama movies about families, with the exception of Chicago 7, ever film since Black panther has been that, plus I'd argue of all the movies it's the most Ensemble hevey movie.
Here is an example of why an actor was nominated as written in the NYTimes magazine. Example: Best Theft of a Movie: Ryan Gosling, “Barbie” For an audience to leave a movie theater convinced that one actor has pocketed the film implies that something went wrong, that a movie that wasn’t about that character became about the actor playing that character. Famously: Anthony Hopkins and his almost 25 minutes of screen time in “The Silence of the Lambs.” And now: Gosling - controversially, for stealing candy from a Barbie. He goes so hard at the joke that Ken is supposed to be telling on men: Strength is weakness, coolness is lame, knowledge is ignorance, twinkle is shadow. You watch Gosling’s face for some sign of a wink, but he is committed. He could have played Ken as an idiot. But the comedy of the performance, the danger of the part and perhaps the point of the movie is that the actor playing this narcissist has installed in him a soul.
Love ya both but I hope you are both wrong about best actor lmao. It just feels like Cillian is the momentum, his 60 minutes is 3 days old and it’s like 40k views away from a million. Also great speech at BAFTA.
I think it would be weird for RDJ to win supporting actor and for Oppy to win ensemble but Cillian loses Lead Actor. I dunno it just would feel odd to me.
Can we put an end to this Lily vs Emma race?? Emma is the winner. Lily is soooooo done. If she had gone to supporting that would have been best. Period. If you're talking about subtle yet great performance, include Greta Lee. She is much much much better in my opinion than Lily. She was in the movie for almost entirity. She gave in my opinion a subtle performance which left more impact on me that Lily's. Greta was robbed. Just because she is new and this is her first lead performance, Award shows payed no heed to her. In true sense, she was 2nd or 3rd to me for best actress race. People really need to get over Lily's performance and stop calling it best. It's not. And now especially, Emma is the fucking best. Lily can't even come close to her.
stans get mad when others point out that lily is supporting, thinking that it's a dig to her performance. but it's thw writing's fault. the fact that lily had initally 3 scenes speaks volumes. she was written as a borderline supporting character, but lily does a great job to make it impactful.
Lily: Half American votes + critical votes Stone: Half American votes + British votes + a small amount of critics votes + a small amount of international votes. Hüller: A small number of British votes + a large number of critics votes + a large number of international votes
greta gave an incredibly affected performance, you could literally see the wheels turn in her head whwnever she was on screen. want to talk about a past lives performance? teo yoo is there. a24 fucked up by focusing the campaign on greta only when teo is fluent in english and could have done a bunch of interviews as well
Oppenheimer has the Best Ensemble of the year. Everytime RDJ and Cillian are mentioning their "Oppenhomies" the room is awe of them. The film is stacked with highly recognizable actors only casted in little parts that eventually got revealed as a big part of the movie (Rami Malek, Jason Clarke, Alden Ehrenreich, Dane DeHaan, etc.) The film is working with it's ensemble, it was so perfect.
Emma's performance is incredible and I'm not exaggerating to say that Bella Baxter is the most iconic female heroine in this decade. But I'm not surprised if SAG choose Gladstone bc of diversity. And if we talk about acting and performance, Emma Stone gave the performance of the lifetime...
I’d argue that Evelyn Wang is the heroine of the decade so far, but Bella Baxter is close behind. I also think Stone probably gave the best performance of the year overall, however Lily was also incredible so I can’t be mad if she wins
why is a possible win for gladstone instantly dismissed as a win for diversity? her performance is critically acclaimed, she won more critic awards than emma. and bella baxter was a better character in the book lol
@freja201 agreed, folks are writing off her performance as less because it's more "subtle" and "she's just in bed." lily learned to act in another language, evokes grief/sorrow and strength as molly's family and people are murdered one by one, languishes in bed, suffering and staring death in the eye. molly may not be as showy a role as bella but it takes a whole lot of skilled acting.
SAG will give it to Cillian Murphy as he is Oppenheimer and the film will not be as successful if its not because of his brilliant performance. Paul has 4 SAG anyway, 3 of them for his competitive SAG and come to think of it, Paul’s performance is something we have seen him doing over and over again. While Cillian gave one of the best and most memorable biopics of all time.
Yeah I don't see why people are salivating over predicting Paul. If y'all can name me one GG comedy winner that has won SAG in the past ten years, I'll entertain it but they can't cuz it hasn't happened. Stats favor Cillian heavy. Ofc anything can happen, but Paul is just because ppl want it to happen not because there's actual evidence of it occuring. Oppie is winning BP and most likely ensemble. RDJ is locked for supporting actor. How would Cillian's name not be checked off in the same manner that Michelle was last year. Holdovers didn't even make it into ensemble and it lost screenplay to Anatomy. The movie is pretty much dead outside of Davine. I just don't see the upset ppl are seeing over the lead in literally the most buzzed and awarded movie of the year. And don't even reply to me about Keaton or Ejofor losing because both lost to the GG Drama winner which was a .....biopic like Cillian is this year.
Coming from someone who loved everything about The Holdovers, if Giamatti wins the Oscar over Cillian Murphy, I wouldn't be surprised if, 30 years from now, that's looked down upon as a "Art Carney beating Nicholson and Pacino" level travesty.
I don't understand the lilly Gladstone hype. Her performance is nothing special. All she did was groan and moan and complain throughout the film She was barely in the film also Killers of the flower moon was long and boring and so disappointing. I was forcing myself to like this film because it was made by scoresere and it had Leo in it
I've taken risk during my predictions and predicted wins for Gosling and Cooper.I'm probably wrong but idk i just wanna have some fun and i hope SAG will do something crazy just like last year
If performance was PHENOMENAL and big achievement from actors part, they should be awarded for their work, Emma has been already won everything, but this doesn’t take away her EXTRAORDINARY PERFORMANCE as Bella. Her campaign going very good 🫶🏻 It’s no Emma’s fault that they put Lily in wrong category, supporting category was way more better for her character! Maybe that was the reason why she didn’t get Bafta nod. Now it’s so obvious they pushing diversity agenda, not good! If narrative is more important, then art dies! Emma for win EVERYTHING.
Mission impossible is winning stunt ensemble!!! Tom cruise was known for his stunts top gun maverick won last year, so mission impossible needs some love here!!!

I'm going with the bafta 4,if it's not that then Giamatti will beat Murphy,I don't think they will do Gladstone, killers has not won anything anywhere and that performance is very sutil, she's great as good as stone and if she wins,I can't complain at all, no matter which stone they pick,I still win so whoever wins I'll be happy with but I don't see Lily happening and Oppenheimer is not losing anything
I don’t think we should dismiss American Fiction taking ensemble. It’s a large ensemble featuring journeymen actors and beloved TV stars. It’s diverse. It heavily features a family unit (SAG lovee family ensembles). It’s an entertaining comedy that’s easy to root for. I still think Oppenheimer wins, but AF winning wouldn’t surprise me one bit.
I'm essentially convinced on Emma winning SAG and the Oscar. As for Best Actor, I'm betting on Giamatti for SAG but for me it's the tightest race of them all. Still, I will be predicting Cillian for the Oscar regardless of SAG, unless Giamatti does make a fantastic speech and we feel the overall mood shifting immensely. But since Oscar voting is already happening, even that may not be enough to change the result if Cillian is already ahead.
You might not want to talk too soon about American Fiction because it is STRONG whether you want to believe it or not and it could pull an upset. It's screenplay is pretty good and pretty strong so I am very happy it won BAFTA and it also proves that Oppenheimer screenplay is NOT that strong
So sad that such wonderful actors and performances - Paul and Cillian- are running the same year. Both are fabulous. So diffrent and beautiful individually
career narrative is dumb. I dont even get why it's such a close race btwn giammatti and Murphy bc to me, Cillian Murphys performance is undeniably the best of the year. We've seen Paul do that many times before.. it was a good performance but not oncar worthy imo
Regarding Oppenheimer, has there ever been a film that swept all of these •Golden Globe Drama •Critics Choice •BAFTA Best Film •DGA •SAG Ensemble •PGA •Oscar Best Picture Not saying it can’t pull it off, just wonder if that would be a first. I know Nomadland won all of those except for SAG Ensemble
Well last 10 years whoever won drama globe won sag and Oscar too (only 2 exception) never won sag, comedy globe winner in last 10 years so cillian is favourite, he won 31 other awards, Paul only 17
I’m still thinking Lily Gladstone wins here. However, if Emma Stone wins here, then it’s over for Lily. If Cillian Murphy wins here, then it’s pretty much over. Oppenheimer is winning SAG Ensemble.
I don't get the wide spread hate for Bradley Cooper and Maestro. It is an objectively good movie by any standard with outstanding performances, good writing and overall fine film making. But apparently it is TOO good, too well made and too well acted so much so that that makes it "baity". It's completely fascinating when the internet echo chamber declares something like this and then it just becomes taken as fact. My vote would still go to Oppenheimer, but the amount of shitting on Cooper for the sin of making a good movie is baffling.
Maestro is a vanity project from Bradley cooper. Maestro is too much but still fall short. A movie about a homosexual man but the movie has no gay sex or even gay kissing. So disappointing. Carey mulligan carried that film on her shoulders

SAG loves giving comedies this award. The Birdcage The Full Monty Shakespeare in Love Gosford Park Chicago Sideways Little Miss Sunshine American Hustle Birdman Three Billboards Parasite (a dark comedy) CODA (it’s a comedy) Everything Everywhere
It kind of irks me how the Oscars are so heavily dependent on someone's past performances/career and length in addition to how they act outside of the character (I'm not talking about whether they're jerks or not - but literal press runs, conferences, interviews, shows, etc) ... they *seriously* have next-to-nothing to do with the actor's performance.
Lily Gladstone needs to happen NOW. The academy has one shot bruh they better not fuck this up. Da’vine has that Oscar on lock I LOVED her performance as Mary in “The Holdovers”. I loved how emotionally nuanced and restrained her performance was. Like I get the whole thing about the big flashy roles vs the more “quiet” ones. I don’t get the problem with Lily when Frances won her third Oscar for “Nomadland” she didn’t have any big scenes and she still won.
mcdormand in nomadland was in a pandemic year that had performances and movies that are weaker in retrospect. Subtle performances definitely don't win nearly as often as showy ones. On top of that, there is clearly more love for poor things and its momentum is gaining.
My predictions: Best Film Ensemble * Oppenheimer Best Film Actress * Emma Stone-Poor Things Best Film Actor * Paul Giamatti-The Holdovers Best Film Supporting Actress * Da’Vine Joy Randolph-The Holdovers Best Film Supporting Actor * Robert Downey Jr.-Oppenheimer
I would rather Giamatti and Gladstone win the SAG awards just to make Oscars night a little more exciting. Otherwise, everything will be obvious and not fun.
I still think RDJ is the front runner for Best Supporting Actor at both The Oscars and SAG, but I feel like at SAG we should also keep our eyes in Sterling K. Brown from American Fiction.
I know this vid is about SAG but no one cares about SAG so I will talk Oscars. This is a rare year where I have managed to see all 10 nominated films. While I agree Oppenheimer probably deserves the top prize, I don't have strong feelings really. The only nominated film that would make for an atrocious winner is Barbie. But the point of expanding the best film category to 10 films from five is to include pop culture movies like Barbie to garner more interest in the Oscars so, on that basis, that nomination is fine too. Of the other nine movies', they are all very very strong. Even those I didn't personally love such as Poor Things, I will not argue that it is not a well made and memorable motion picture. I truly thought Maestro was great and Cooper was great in it. . Flowers was also great, but it has not stayed with me as much as other films have. Zone of Interest is probably the film that I think about most. Past Lives was lovely. Anatomy of A Fall had tremendous performances. American Fiction was a great commentary on society today. As a movie, I probably enjoyed The Holdovers the most and would not lose sleep if Giamatti took home the acting prize. If there's an upset and Oppenheimer doesn't get best picture, I will not believe it to be a robbery unless Barbie grabs it somehow. Barbie's award is a $1.5 billion box office plus Mattel can be happy with an upsurge in doll sales.
oppenhomies for the win. sorry holdovers people... but that movie is not oscar winning worthy. the nomination is the award for davine and paul. nothing special about their performances. NOTHING. it should be emily blunt, cillian murphy, RDJ. they all did something different for this film. also, sandra huller for the oscar. emma stone is over the top . probably wont go this way but i can hope.
emily blunt was awful in oppenheimer and she can barely move her face. i know oppenhimer stans hate giamatti but for the love of god leave da'vine out of it. she swept all the awards, more than rdj and cillian, for a reason.
@jaguarkaboom8967 How is Stone over the top? Are you too stupid to understand the movie? How would you play an adult person with baby brain differently? Huller is very, very distant second.
@@manantial773 if you can’t see how botoxed her face is that’s not my problem lol. Same case with Nicole Kidman though Nicole was always a better actress
I predict that Maestro will only win one Oscar for Makeup. The film is an insult to film making, because it presents a distorted version of Bernstein, whose reputation is based on a false narrative from the sacred cow coverage in the press. Films should be based on the truth, not a false narrative. I posted a new video on my TH-cam channel titled THE BERNSTEIN EFFECT that explains the collateral damage he caused to the arts. I studied with one of his friends, Ivan Davis, who also performed with him. His stunts and scams were part of my education. He ruined the way symphonies and concertos are performed and his teachings eliminated the development of processing variables in bigger and bigger batches, which destroyed the intellectual development of conductors, pianists and composers. This ruined classical music as an art form and a business. Most of the classical recordings are now vanity records. I explain who's making the vanity records and who's paying for it.
Michelle Yeoh won best actress last year because she's in the movie that a lot of people watched besides giving an amazing acting performance. So I do not think Gladstone will win just because she's a person with Native American descent. As what has been said, Flowers was a while ago, while Poor Things is still in cinemas. And Emma gave the best performance for this year, so it is hard to ignore that. It's weird to try being inclusive and be biased at the same time.
Emma Stone gave best performance and is more deserving whereas Lily Gladstone is "diverse" This whole "diversity" quota is just ridiculous. Last year EEAAO won all major awards because it was more "diverse" whereas in reality The Banshees of Inisherin should have won best picture, best director, best original screenplay, best supporting actor and best actress should have been given to Cate Blanchett. But I guess diversity is more important than deserving people🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 Wokeism at it's peak🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Murphy/Giamatti is exactly the same as OToole/Peck in 1962. One played in best picture winner, one of the biggest bio picks ever, the other was belowed actor waiting for the win, and borh Peck and Giamatti should win
It's not the same. O Toole lost to the GG Drama winner which was Peck (this year is Cillian; Paul won GG comedy which is seldom picked as winners in the lead actor compared to GG Drama). They competed in the same category and O Toole lost very early on. Peck was also the star of the most beloved/read novels and played one of the most iconic book characters ever. Holdovers does not have a fraction of the impact TKAM does.

It's not even close though. I loved Cillian in Red Eye, buts it's not an oscar worthy performance. The Likeablity of a character shouldn't come into it. What Cillian did with Oppenheimer is a performance for the ages.

Yes!! You expressed it much better than I did.
Okay so Bradley Cooper deserves it.
And I could be wrong, I thought Cooper deserved more for A Star is Born and he lost…
Edit: And about being the leading character in a frontrunner. I said it was not just because of that. And it’s also true that a lot of the times the lead in a movie is not the reason why the movie is good, so you’re right. It doesn’t necessarily mean something, but in this movie, it does.
Muy de acuerdo!!
I think if Gosling was ever going to win an award it was this one. It’s the kind of performance that wins with them.
SAG is the most populist guild, and they love big performances. I got RDJ still winning, but I agree with your assessment.
Even if he wins here, I’d still confidently predict Downey Jr. for the Oscar. I think Gosling absolutely needed to win Critics Choice to be competitive
@@seankoontz4235 I don’t think he’s not competitive tho? Like Downey might be out in front but Gosling is definitely in 2nd.
@MovieMann1986 He’s second but it would be a shock if anyone but RDJ won at this point
I hope Emma can do it. She was phenomenal.
You literally fucked up whole best lead category
You guys are wrong again.
The Oscar "Expert", huh?
I love Paul Giamatti and his performance in the Holdovers. However, Cillian Murphy deserves it for being the face of Oppenheimer.
nah
The Best Actor Award is NOT a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Tell that to Paul Newman (RIP) and Al Pacino.
@@marcochen9117his performance is not “undervalued”, most people just have a different system of value judgment than you seem to. They are not undervaluing it for winning, they just don’t believe it’s a good performance

It is very funny that you do NOT realize that Giamatti is only 9 years older than Murphy. They are both VETERANS, actually, they started at the SAME time.

Everyone’s saying that Giamatti has a really good career narrative, but I think it’s important to remember that he’s already won a SAG award. Not only is Cillian the face of the big awards movie of the year, but he also has a very good career and he HASN’T already won a SAG award

It's not my favorite movie of the year but I think its cast acted extremely well as a true Ensemble: Barbie
Plus the nomination in Stunts shows a bit of strength.

I’m going 4 for 4 with BAFTA for the acting categories at SAG, I just can’t imagine Oppenheimer being the runaway front runner for Best Picture and many categories somehow Cillian doesn’t come along for the win, it just doesn’t feel right.
My predictions:
Ensemble: Oppenheimer
Actor: Cillian Murphy
Actress: Emma Stone
Supporting Actor: Robert Downey Jr.
Supporting Actress: Da’Vine Joy Randolph
Stunts: John Wick Chapter 4
I've been saying this season don't underestimate American fiction, and i think American Fiction has a shot to win sag ensemble, as it's everyone the Sag often likes in SAG ensemble, that being comedy-drama movies about families, with the exception of Chicago 7, ever film since Black panther has been that, plus I'd argue of all the movies it's the most Ensemble hevey movie.
If American Fiction is going to show strength, it would be in that category. I was really surprised it won the screenplay prize at BAFTA.
Here is an example of why an actor was nominated as written in the NYTimes magazine. Example: Best Theft of a Movie: Ryan Gosling, “Barbie”
For an audience to leave a movie theater convinced that one actor has pocketed the film implies that something went wrong, that a movie that wasn’t about that character became about the actor playing that character.

Agreed. The narrative surrounding Oppenheimer is grander and it's the career defining performance of the last 8 years. It's his to win.

Kind of weird watching this after the fact. Particularly the Best Actress category.
Coming from someone who loved everything about The Holdovers, if Giamatti wins the Oscar over Cillian Murphy, I wouldn't be surprised if, 30 years from now, that's looked down upon as a "Art Carney beating Nicholson and Pacino" level travesty.
Maybe but it shouldn’t be. Giamatti is just as good as Cillian Murphy and delivers a great performance in his own right.
The only reason why that would happen is bc of Nolan and cillian fanboys lol

Guys - Giamatti is only on his second Oscar nomination - not his third.
You're gonna mention the Critics Choice voting scandal?
What are you talking about?
Bestie what happened
😮
Context?
What scandal?
The bad give him acting
Espialy supporting actor
Domnic sessa desearve nom for the holdovers
Paul Giamatti had my vote for best actor….and of course at The Oscars
It is Paul’s 2nd nomination, not 3rd (yea, I also like to think that he should have been nominated for Sideways)
Regarding Oppenheimer, has there ever been a film that swept all of these
•Golden Globe Drama
•Critics Choice
•BAFTA Best Film
•DGA
•SAG Ensemble
•PGA
•Oscar Best Picture
Not saying it can’t pull it off, just wonder if that would be a first. I know Nomadland won all of those except for SAG Ensemble
Well last 10 years whoever won drama globe won sag and Oscar too (only 2 exception) never won sag, comedy globe winner in last 10 years so cillian is favourite, he won 31 other awards, Paul only 17
“You can stay tuned😬” Are yall reacting to SAG with Matt Neglia on Saturday? 👀
It would be great if you guys could give reasons why you liked performances instead of saying other people like it. This just sounds like sheep.
Cillian is a better actor!!!!
My vote would still go to Oppenheimer, but the amount of shitting on Cooper for the sin of making a good movie is baffling.
it's bc he's campaigning and people don't like actors who openly want awards. nevermind that cillian has been campaigning just as much lol
Maestro is a vanity project from Bradley cooper.
Maestro is too much but still fall short.
A movie about a homosexual man but the movie has no gay sex or even gay kissing.
So disappointing. Carey mulligan carried that film on her shoulders
He did the assignment and did it very well. I don't get the hate either.
@@singstreetcar5881 Oh yes, god knows, If there's a gay character in a film, we must see them having sex. Otherwise, how would we know? Good lord. As a gay person, I find criticism like this completely absurd.
@@Pacman398 movies with straight characters especially biopic always have straight sex scenes, kissing etc. So why can't Hollywood do the same for gay stories? What is so scary about gay sex? this is the same thing hollywood did with bohemian rhapsody and freddie Mercury, a flamboyant gay singer who was known for having wild sex parties, not 1 gay sex scene. Everything was very PG. Why? What are they scared of? Seeing two men being intimate will not turn u into stone. If u urself are gay ,i feel sorry for u.U suffer from internalised homophobia and that's just sad. Good day
Lily: Half American votes + critical votes Stone: Half American votes + British votes + a small amount of critics votes + a small amount of international votes. Hüller: A small number of British votes + a large number of critics votes + a large number of international votes
Sandra wasn’t nominated at SAG
@@MrGoat-cd8lt I know that is what I predicted at the Oscar
SAG loves giving comedies this award.
The Birdcage
The Full Monty
Shakespeare in Love
Gosford Park
Chicago
Sideways
Little Miss Sunshine
American Hustle
Birdman
Three Billboards
Parasite (a dark comedy)
CODA (it’s a comedy)
Everything Everywhere
Billboards was far from a comedy,
Not in best actor category
Stone gave the performance of the year, it is time for you to improve your taste, Gladstone is NOT winning.
🤔
mcdormand in nomadland was in a pandemic year that had performances and movies that are weaker in retrospect. Subtle performances definitely don't win nearly as often as showy ones. On top of that, there is clearly more love for poor things and its momentum is gaining.
Getting an Oscar Expert video is the highlight of my day. Also is Mickey 17 with a new release date going to be eligible for next year's awards?
That is a good question
My predictions: Best Film Ensemble
* Oppenheimer
Best Film Actress
* Emma Stone-Poor Things
Best Film Actor
* Paul Giamatti-The Holdovers
Best Film Supporting Actress
* Da’Vine Joy Randolph-The Holdovers
Best Film Supporting Actor
* Robert Downey Jr.-Oppenheimer
I would rather Giamatti and Gladstone win the SAG awards just to make Oscars night a little more exciting. Otherwise, everything will be obvious and not fun.
Will be so exiting in oscar if this happend hhh
I still think RDJ is the front runner for Best Supporting Actor at both The Oscars and SAG, but I feel like at SAG we should also keep our eyes in Sterling K. Brown from American Fiction.
Sag ensemble hopefully Barbie
Gladstone and Pedro Pascal won im happy 😁
oppenhomies for the win.
sorry holdovers people... but that movie is not oscar winning worthy. the nomination is the award for davine and paul. nothing special about their performances. NOTHING.
it should be emily blunt, cillian murphy, RDJ. they all did something different for this film.
also, sandra huller for the oscar. emma stone is over the top . probably wont go this way but i can hope.
emily blunt was awful in oppenheimer and she can barely move her face. i know oppenhimer stans hate giamatti but for the love of god leave da'vine out of it. she swept all the awards, more than rdj and cillian, for a reason.
I get that Sandra Huller is "the cool pick", but I think she is a little overrated.
@@freja201 This is incredibly stupid, she can move her face just fine, she was amazing in the movie, but Randolph is better.
Wanted to post my final predictions here but my internet has been acting up all weekend and I couldm't access my GoldDerby 😠😠😠
Anyways I did ok
Not tye same - Michelle Yoeh won also like life achivement award
Normies?
I think I think it’s less about diversity for Lily, Gladstone, and more about having an Oscar versus not having an Oscar. Emma Stone has an Oscar.
who the fuck cares if emma already has an oscar?? maybe people on twitter.
Why is it silly to call Barbie diverse?
Michelle Yeoh won best actress last year because she's in the movie that a lot of people watched besides giving an amazing acting performance. So I do not think Gladstone will win just because she's a person with Native American descent. As what has been said, Flowers was a while ago, while Poor Things is still in cinemas. And Emma gave the best performance for this year, so it is hard to ignore that. It's weird to try being inclusive and be biased at the same time.
Well?

Actor: Cillian
Actress: Lily
You are wrong, Lily is not winning.

@@rehnumachowdhury3629 i meant in the way that Glenn was a winner by many and then she lost. Not because de nationalitys
Worst comparison ever. Colman won due to her acting being way superior, her equivalent is Murphy. Giamatti has been doing this role his entire career.
@@manantial773 Colman is Cillian. Both won Bafta as well
VFX is going to be fun next year with Dune vs Wicked
Late reply I know but Dune is gonna take it
Emma Stone gave best performance and is more deserving whereas Lily Gladstone is "diverse"
This whole "diversity" quota is just ridiculous. Last year EEAAO won all major awards because it was more "diverse" whereas in reality The Banshees of Inisherin should have won best picture, best director, best original screenplay, best supporting actor and best actress should have been given to Cate Blanchett. But I guess diversity is more important than deserving people🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Wokeism at it's peak🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
I feel oddly very confident in Giamatti. Actress is giving me a headache tho. Just gonna go with Emma.
Go Lily!
Why isn’t anyone saying it was a poor decision to contest best actress, when she would have swept Supporting category.
Lots of people are saying this, these guys said it months ago when the decision was first announced.
because stans feel it's an attack on the quality of her performance.

Lilly gladston
Defeat emme in golden globe
Becase two win golden in diffrent category.
Lilly win one but not defeat emma at all in any awards
Becase her wining seperate.
In sag
Will be clearly who the big front runner.

That mean lilly win golden globe
Becase she was contender without emma.
And if emma if she win sag
Will make oscar member

Becade she sweep all awards of seasion
Sooo if they want give the award
To diversty
Or to new person same sandra
Will be diffcult.
Becase bafta and critics and sag give emma stone all awards.

Dont win oscar if the resean is she get one early career before
Becase poor thing
Better than lala land
If lilly gladstone dont win sag
Will be same emelly blant in bafta

I will pick
Paul jiamatii in sag.

I wish Sandra wins the Oscar
The holdovers is such a terrible movie yall

Fraser won CC + SAG, so if Giamatti gets SAG... I think he'll be like 60:40 over Murphy on the Oscars.
Giammati is not Fraser at all. Fraser had the comeback narrative + makeup. You can't just look at one year to make your decision.
