Thank you for the video. I tried changing the fluid about a week ago and didn't know what to do with some of the things being attached to the diff. I'll be changing the fluid pretty soon now.
I did reuse mine. It is reusable. Inspect and clean the factory gasket and you will be ok for your first and maybe second change but its under $20 for a new one from the dealer and I feel its good peace of mind to know you have a good gasket in place. when you replace it.
Hi I just did this in my 19 ZR2. I went with the AFE cover as it holds .8 quart more than OEM and has a drain plug and cooling fins. I filled with Amsoil 75-140 because I tow some. Great vid.
There are a lot of options but additional fluid and cooling fluids are all for heat issues and even the Hall racing Colorado didn't seem to have any issues (albeit the billet AL cover for the race anti wrap link set-up was used.) I got the cover for rock protection and liked that the AEV piece was nodular iron vs the aluminum of most other finned style covers main for extended capacity and heat.
Its a newer addition on the ZR2s. I am not sure when they changed from the traditional ZR2 breather to this shorter check valve variant but this is for sure on the 2020s and 2021s I have seen.
is the rear axle different between a ZR2 and a regular Colorado I would like to add the skid plate and the cover to mine plus the shock skid plates also any information would be great
The ZR2 axle housing is wider than the base - Z71 models however apart from that the parts you are asking about are completely interchangeable between sub-models. The AEV Diff skid plate and Rear diff cover will bolt up to any 2015 - 2022 Colorado or Canyon axle. There are a lot of Shock skid options but simple Datin Fab parts were more than sufficient for what I used the truck for. They were no issue with the Multimatic ZR2 OE shocks or the King adjustable reservoir shocks.
@@bretdillenbeck4120 The GMPP steel driveshaft is the same for ZR2 or non-ZR2 however I believe it must be a CC/SB or EC/LB wheelbase. I am not sure if the CC/LB is a recommended fit.

Glad it helped out.
Thanks for sharing these how to videos with the great details many fail to share!!
Is the gasket reusable or did you get a new one? I heard it was reusable but yours looked new

Thanks for the video. Is that breather valve at the end standard? I don’t recall seeing that on mine.
