You know, Letterman "ran" across his stage before the open of his show every night for decades. He still runs at age 70.
And the strange thing is that Letterman went for his daily jog around his home the evening before his routine exam with his dr. The one that rushed him to the hospital for heart surgery. It just goes to show that just because you do a lot of cardio exercise, you will have a healthy heart. Exercise is always good, but everyone's health is unique to them. It may have been worse if he wasn't jogging every day.

I fail to see how is this embarrassing? I mean I'm sure Billy felt proud at least to win the competition. lol~
Well, from Letterman's POV, it apparently was. I remember Howard Cosell had his own one-on-one talk show back in the mid '80s. His guest one night was Letterman, with whom he brought up his performance 10 years earlier on the Battle of the Network Stars. To which he responded: "Good lord, Howard. You know, you're the only one who bothers me about this...It was a weekend of humiliation for me. There were events in this bogus quasi-athletic competition that I clearly had no business being in, but nobody else wanted to be in them. And having kinda this midwestern notion of 'well, I guess I'll do it', I ended up making a fool of myself."

from what i remember that show got really competitive, even the girls got really into it so it was a big deal to win or lose at the time. they actually took pride in their networks too, it was a fun show i heard they were trying to bring it back.
