    Someone already commented this years ago: Whenever Robin entered a talkshow he basically dominated it. Craig was the only host who could actually keep up with him. Some have suggested others who could come close to keeping up with Robin but I have a couple not yet mentioned. I once saw a comedy special with Robin, Billy Crystal and the incomparable Dudley Moore. Once Dudley found his stride in that show Robin sat down, Billy as well and both of them laughed so hard they could hardly breathe. We seldom if ever got to see Dudley 'let it go' but he was absolutely brilliant. RIP Robin and Dudley.

      I don’t know that he’d be alive today.
      He’d been diagnosed with Parkinson’s but *knew* there was something else going on, he knew he was behaving in ways that were odd, even for him.
      He wanted to spare his family from finding out ‘what else’ might be wrong.
      As sad as i am that he’s gone…and STILL thinking it’s a bad dream…..i admire him that he controlled how he died, rather than allowing how he died to control his/anyone else’s lives.@@michaelbarnes6017

    I don't think I had ever heard Robin Williams laughing out loud before. I even had to rewind the video to see who's laugh that was because I was so surprised that he actually laughed. We're so used to having him making everyone else laugh, but Craig was one of the few people who could make him genuinely laugh as well. Goes to show how amazing Craig was. Miss both of these guys.
    Edit: Craig correctly says that Robin is a master at improvisational comedy, but this video made me realise that Craig is a master of improv as well. Robin's was more focused on coming up with good jokes, and a lot of the times used the same type of set-up, or start, middle, or finish to a joke. Craig's type of improv I feel is much more useful to the every day man who is not a world renowned comedian, which is to be good at improvising conversation and jokes in a way that makes you appear charming, confident, and strong. Craig does not get the credit he deserves he was by far the best talk-show host ever. Just watching him have a conversation with his guests is like taking a masterclass in flirting and being social, he was truly amazing.

      Watching all Johnny Carson clips, kind of the classic innuendo and having that threes company style misinterpretation and everything having a sexual undertone or reference seem to run popular in the late 70s early 80s and I think Craig personifies that type of humor were knowing his personality. Any comment that someone makes that could be taken one way or another 95% of the time he goes for it Scarlett Johansson had him set up a couple times where he could hit a home run based on what she said, but he refrained out of charming charisma. He also is the master of switching topics when it gets a little too deep or too many jokes running that are sexual nature so that way it is more flirty and fun versus being a creep or predatory.

    As a Glaswegian, this is pure Scottish comedy gold! Williams with his brilliant off the wall comedy that was simply genius and lighting fast. R.I.P. Mr Williams, you are so dearly missed and the world is sadly worse off without you.

    Robbin Williams was able to offend anyone and anything and still be loved

    • @Transportia
      @Transportia 5 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      Because he started with laughing at himself and because the jokes were (like Jonathan Winters) characters from remembered people, and because his humor was fundamentally kindly. Maybe he *didn't* like the people he riffed but he made you believe he did.

    • @SirCamera
      @SirCamera 5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @Transportia That may be the most genius description of Robin William's humor I've ever read.

    • @trifien007
      @trifien007 5 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      It's because you can tell that there was no malice behind his jokes, plus people weren't such big pussies just a few short years ago.

    • @kyleelmblade5193
      @kyleelmblade5193 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@trifien007 I don't know if I would have used the same language, but your assessment is spot on. Look at Robin Williams more serious works; Dead Poets Society, Awakenings, Mrs.Doubtfire, The Birdcage, etc. The characters he played were often compassionate and caring, just like the man himself. Sure, he played a few creepy and somewhat evil roles, but that is just a testament to his creative flexibility.
      Some people are going to get offended no matter what you do or say. Robin had this genius way of taking even the most offensive joke and making the majority of those who would be offended laugh at it. Did he ever cross the line? Sure. But there isn't a comedian out there who hasn't. That doesn't mean he was a bad person or, for that matter, took himself seriously when he made potentially offensive jokes. He was a genuine soul that loved everyone, and that was reflected in his comedy, offensive or otherwise.
      We miss you, Robin!

    The great thing about Robin and Craig is exactly what Craig said, when Robin is there he can just sit back. Craig knew there was no controlling Robin. So he would plug what Robin was promoting then just have fun with him. Even Carson would try to steer the interview in certain directions with varying success. Robin was an unstoppable force. Craig fed into it and just riffed with him, and even made Robin crack up. That's what made them both the best at what they do. RIP Robin, you are sorely missed.

      From 17:15 until 18:01 Craig just hides behind his cup while Robin just goes on and on digging deeper into the hole LOL
