  • To commemorate the 5th anniversary of Dave retiring from late night television (his last show was on May 20, 2015), I've put together a series of "first and last" appearances, the latter paying tributes in their own ways to the last giant of late night (h/t Jason Zinoman).
    Part 6. Billy Crystal
    1. August 2, 1982
    2. April 14, 2015

Anybody else remember when these two raced each other in obstacle course on Battle of the Network Stars?

@Don Giller Don, what happened to the clip of Billy Crystal talking to Dave about the time he guest hosted _The Tonight Show_ and had Howard Cosell on as a guest? Billy relayed a hilarious anecdote about Howard "sabotaging" the interview. The clip was available here on TH-cam for a while and now it seems to be gone.

These two guest spots are the only Crystal appearances I’ve uploaded. I can’t speak for others’ uploads.

@@dongiller Thanks for the prompt response. Do you have the interview to which I'm referring? If so, would you please upload it?

@@bubufubu I have every Letterman, but I’m no longer able to upload additional Dave-owned or -licensed content. This has been since February 202#.

@@dongiller Thanks again for responding, Don. I'm guessing you meant to type "2023" but got the pound (#) symbol on the last digit. I have watched a great deal of the content you have uploaded on this channel. Multiple times, I came across instances where you took requests. This, of course, is why I asked. I was not aware of any recent sanctions laid upon you, but perhaps I'm being a bit presumptuous with my language. It's too bad because Billy's anecdote is absolutely hilarious. Personally, it's my favorite impression of Howard. In any event, I apologize for my ignorance and thank you for the footage you _have_ been allowed to share with the public on TH-cam. Cheers.
