My first show was Hershey 12-1-95, but somehow THIS was my first Divided Sky. I chased this song for years. Always missed it. But after years of close calls, I finally got it. My first Divided Sky. At the fucking Gorge. If you were at this show and saw a girl crying as her friends ran up and hugged her during the opening notes of this beauty....well, it was me. Complete magic.
It's weird, but when I read comments like this, they stick with me. Junta lives in my car CD player, I never get tired of it. Probably, when I hear Divided Sky from now on I will think of you, sweet Melissa, whoever you are.
98 Gorge is where it's at! Amazing memories of driving from Missoula to catch the Portland tour opener and the two Gorge shows. Late 90's man...what a time!
We drove up from San Diego. Let me just say...that 2001 opening set was legendary. We were about 7th row *General Audience* Directly Page Side in between his Yamaha Baby Grand. Some kid put his hands on his head 10 minutes in. He looked like I felt. Utterly amazed.
Anyone else ever have dreams and phish is playing? I had one the other night. It was a section of fluffhead and trey hit every note perfectly! It was pure bliss, amazing! Especially when you remember each note after waking up!
No but once I had a dream that Miles Davis was playing electric trumpet to no one at a gas station in the middle of the desert and I rolled up to jam a little on guitar before he telepathically gave me some great secret that I can't quite remember, great times. Other than that and Ozzy Osbourne picking me up hitchhiking not a lot of musicians in my dreams, at least not that I can remember right now
Not yet, but considering how much Phish I am consuming lately, maybe soon. I do have a recurring dream occasionally that Frank Zappa invites me into his house to hang out and chat about music.
Absolutely agree. 95 96 97 98 they found their groove. In 97 I was 16 yrs old in limestone maine for the great went. Just such an awesome experience. They did their tour in Europe and when they came back with that subtle change in their sound in was just so funky. Dont get me wrong I still love me some 95 'machine gun' phish.
Wow. That was perfection ! If any of you super Phish Phreaks know of a better version of this song, please point me to it. I literally have heard the Junta version 1,000+ times, no joke, I just love that record, but this is going on my next Phish CD burn to play on a loop in my car, which I am in like 60 hours a week. Before too long, I suppose I am going to be a super Phish Phreak.
What I wouldn't give to have been at the Gorge in 98. Fortunately I was able to make it 20 years later (pun intended), but going before cell phones and all would have been so rad.
Amazing. What's even more amazing is that I keep finding numerology patterns within the video stats that are pretty eerily on target to certain recurring themes and symbolic logic applications. Yet again Phish finds a new and ingenious way to amaze me.
@Suanne Yes I was at that show. I also saw the two dead shows at the pyramid. Legendary 2001 @ that Memphis 99 show. and sector 9 after party. It’s a bass pro shop now.

I have! I also had one where the Grateful Dead were playing in my backyard. FUN!
"trey hit every note perfectly"
this is how you knew it was a dream. 🙂

I went to 97 gorge. This sounds great. The 90's are my favorite Phish decade.

Worst show ever
other than this DS the first set does look really weak. however maybe they made up for it with the 4 song second set? I dunno. Wasn't there.
That’s actually comic book shop guy’s review.
Check out 9/29/98. Memphis Pyramid, Trey's birthday. I was there and it was fire.
