Holy shit snacks. I'm totally baked right now and TH-cam recommended this Band I never heard about called phish and several hours in, here I am and.. Holy shit.. This band is soo good. Wow.
I so love when they take you into the weirdness and then bring you back home. People wonder why they’re so often compared to the Grateful Dead; well that’s one of the many reasons. That is something Garcia was a master at. Launching you into space and into the weirdness but then returning back to the melody and landing you safely. Phish are so great at what they do and I’m so glad they’re still out there playing music for us.
In no way do I think you need substances for Phish's music, but what you're describing is like having a high/trip successfully, and it's really a nice combo of this for that situation.
This is a monster-piece. Soooo much packed into this jam. And getting to hear my wife - not totally a Phan...yet - yell “we love to take a bath” was icing. What a night. My fav show of the run
Last night, I told my 3 and 7 year old children that all Phish songs even ones with syncopated beats could be divided into sections of 1-2-3-4 and I played Divided sky, Teela, and Fee on TH-cam to prove it, and I was right, my kids had great fun trying to play fee and divided sky on my piano last night.

I had zero intentions of partying this night, but I got my normal shoes wet, and was forced to wear my glow in the dark party shoes... that simple shoe change altered the course of my night drastically... lights go down and a cute chick turns around and says "my friends are gay, will you roll and dance with me tonight?" At 37 years old and 22 years of Phish, i had a magical night, ended up one of my favorite Phish nights ever, top 5 for sure.

2:05 there’s the part I’m looking for :) Page is the man, but personally wanting to learn rhapsody in blue, it’s comforting to hear him fudge it a little here
What a great version to catch from the floor at MSG. Thought they were going into What’s The Use out of the feedback at the end but back into the main melody line instead. Such a fun night.
I haven't seen them since the early 90s, but I don't recall them sounding this good. They keep getting better and better! Like wine... on the moon... with someone you love... two people you love... and your favorite sandwich. I really need to go see them again and become reacquainted with the strange. This isolation caused by the Covid virus is starting to mess with my head, but can you imagine the rapture we'll all experience when we all emerge on the other side?
This is probably too much explanation, but after a decline in sound due to substance abuse, Trey is pretty strict about sobriety of the band. I personally think that’s what to thank for their advancement
Page could just play the same dissonant thing on this time and time again but he almost never does. Just take a minute to consider how musically, professionally amazing that is. And it's true. There was a small Page "gin rut" that he got stuck in for a very short while there around the Farmhouse release, but now? This is currently always - each outing - a unique Rage Side Relief! I consider BTGin a McConnell feature-song as much as Cars Trucks Busses, Suzy, SOAM, or any Coil. Ladies and Wooks, The Chairman of the Boards... 8:33 Chase the next Somewhere Over the Rainbow! edit: Anyone else hear the "If I Only Had a Brain" tease at the end of this?
@@jdg6336 Haha, right? I totally agree. It's like Mr. Troy Antipasto woke up one day with the fucking amnesia of a any average born-again Christian and said, "Prog Rock? WTF is that?" On the other hand I blame the "phans" who hate so hard on Time Turns Elastic, Fuego (the song,) and Petrichor and the like. If Phish didn't have to worry about live performance anymore, catering to their nauseatingly wealthy, Nitrous Oxide-Fueled, Braindead-Boring concert attendees, the band could stop "touring" around the greater Connecticut Area and finally write some goddamned real music again. I would buy those albums! Like I did with Rift, I would buy multiple copies as gifts. But as it is, I'll never buy Big Boat, not for a friend; not for an enemy. Phish should stop playing live, go hit the barn and get to work. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I'm an Edgelord like that. I'm also right: Fuck your droll balloon habit.

Don't you think McConnell should get paid more than the bass player because of all the harmonic and rhythmic complexity in the piano? I mean...he plays the hardest instrument....

Thanks phish for no commercials during your songs.
I came after Jeff mentioned on an american dad episode, Jeff’s favorite song ever, cool song
I think his favorite is at red rock though if I remember from years ago seeing that episode.

Never played gin romney ? Fun card games but still playing for the water works
My favorite Phish song I think…at least most definitely top 3
but its supposed to be at redrocks

Yes! so true. That's where the magic happens. Both bands will take you on one hell of a trip.

This was such a good run, and at such a crazy time in history! It would be great to see an official release. Tweezer from the next night is fire too!
Im glad this tune is THX McConnell certified!
I love how he creates melody in his soloing
aren't all solos played by anyone like a melody?
You'd think it would get old after seeing these guys for 25 plus years now, but it doesn't! Always worth the varying price of admission!!

Maybe it's just me but I'm definitely getting a Frank Zappa feel. Fair disclosure, this is the first time I've ever heard Phish's music.
Trey says that Zappa is one of his 3 primary influences. Yeah its obvious. So is King Crimson's influence.
