Hey Justin - We have 6 trucks ( pre 1999 and gliders) NO emissions, NO elog, and have a 6mpg average and weigh 44 - 48000 empty and 90 - 980000 loaded and maintain a 6 mpg fleet average plus they run to pump off the load. Also minimal down time and affordable repairs.
I have a glider too same model 389 flat top with a CAT engine i wll never change this truck , i see on the road alot new truck broke down, especially in the winter here in Wisconsin to many sensors, nice fleet brother, The only problem i have is California only allow me 1000 miles a year because i not use DEF 😂 is ok with me last time i was there was 5 years ago.
There’s a company that is putting cats in newer trucks and getting new vin numbers issued so there technically not deleted. Elkhorn Valley In Fremont Nebraska
I’m running a 2021 W9 with a 86 studio on a 283 WB: in the first 130,000 miles it was in the shop 7 times for emission system components and I was down a total of 9 weeks before they finally replaced the entire engine wiring harness. I now carry extra DPF sensors in my box just in case. I run Canada and Cali when I do tour work so I don’t really have the option to run a glider; otherwise I would.
I have six pre-def Kenworth T660s with cummins isx engines and thy just have the DPF all of them with over 1,000,000 miles on them and the only issues I’ve ever had with them is all of them got new injectors at 500,000 I have two 2017, Peterbilt 579s and those trucks are down more than any of my others. I have four Peterbilt 378 with 60 series Detroit in them and those are the best running and I have three freightliner Cascadias 2021-2022 with Cummins X 15 engines and all three of them have right at 200,000 miles or just a little over and I’ve never had problems with them. All my trucks are set up for 105,500 pounds. I pull walking floors and belt trailers just like you I will say that the older trucks definitely run better and cost less to maintain and run overall. Unfortunately for me and a couple of the areas that I run into I am required to have an emissions trucks.
Hi Justin I drive for a company that runs pretty much the same weight and equipment as you do. I run a 2017 Pete 389 and get about 4.5 mpg. I roughly calculate 1 gallon of def per 30 gallons of fuel. It’s a x15 rated at 550 horsepower
I am with you too. Imo New trucks are not worth it. Too much tech in them, sensors, computer stuff/emissions control. More for it go wrong. Have you ever thought looking into Hydrogen? I've seen few videos where they added Hydrogen to be injected into turbo diesel so it burns cleaner, I think it was done pre engine, Like Cat. Good Video. Gliders are great trucks, They should never have stopped them. Nice looking Pete :)
thats a nice 389 yall got there 👍 glad to see its doing so well for ya , not much is worth more to a trucker than a good solid truck that just keeps going but that also has to do with how the truck is being treated . great video thanks !
Our company bought a bunch of coronado gliders and these things have been work horses. Since then theyve switched to getting newer emissions trucks and theyve been money pits. When i hired on I got one of the gliders and the guys who had mine got a 24 Cascadia. With only 5000 miles on it, it had spent 6 months in and out of the shop for emissions issues. He likes it now, but the start was rough.
I’m with on the glider kits I think they’re the way to go. But on the other hand, I have a 2019 Western star flat top sleeper. It has 600 horse Detroit 1850 torque and have had pretty much no issue with the emissions. Just minor sensors.
When California first implemented the diesel emissions standards the Detroit engines were the most reliable emissions engine and I am sure they are still the most reliable due to the experience Diamler has with euro emissions.
Great video as always. And referring to selling a 2019 with emissions and isx, I bet you’d be lucky to get $100,000 because really at that mileage you’re MORE than ready for a rebuild.
Basically everything we get comes on a truck 🛻 !!!!!!!!….it’s extremely unfortunate that people such as yourself have been forced into buying these new so called green vehicles!!!!!!…I’m 💯 percent with you on running the equipment that you have and to try to hold out as long as you can hopefully 🤞 that will be a long time away!!!!…..small business owners are the backbone of North America and they need to be held in the highest regard!!!!!!…pride in ownership that you have is outstanding and I appreciate your content on your channel!!!!!!!….PS…. Great video Justin. Nothing like a 389 with a Cat.Trust me you won't like the 589.Volvo with a Peterbilt hood. Plastic interior full of troublesome electronics! Thanks for the video Justin, keep them coming

Gm sir Justin, interesting content. 500 Thousand miles with minor to no issues is great in my book sir. Like you stated, I also would recommend purchasing a glider all day long, RealTalK. A beauty of a truck sir. And yes you are most definitely BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVORED 💯💯💯💯
Justin if I could I'd buy a glider in a heart beat I run all over the country and I'm always 80 thousand I'm getting 4.8 mpg around Maryland were I'm from and I stay out west and I get 5.2 mpg and as far as the cow piss tank I call it , I fill the Def tank every day I get fuel and it is $4.09 a gallon I get around 150 gallons of fuel and I also get 8 gallons Def. I have a kenworth w990 with a 605 Cummins 18 speed trans mid roof and a 53 ft dry van .I love your truck's. Thanks for sharing your channel it's great.

I’m driving a 2019 Peterbilt with a paccar and I’m getting 5 MPG grossing 102,000 lbs like you but without a wet line or idling and then you’ve got to ad def on top of that
The best thing about "Gliders" is, as long as you drop in a pre-electronic log book block, you get to run Paper Logs, and actually get things done. Back in the early 90's I got a MACK double framed, Superliner glider, on a 280" frame, w/a used Freightliner stand up sleeper, to replace my Brother's R Model that he rolled in an ice storm. Back then, they didn't come with rears. We transferred all the R's running gear, but added the 400 HP MACK engine, turned up the pump to 625 HP, and made Pete drivers angry, walking away up hills in Western Pa. 7.3 MPG were her happy numbers, loaded or empty, which we never were. Sand out, and potatoes back. The stock (came with)Superliner radiator kept the 400 nice, and cool for the 11 million miles we put on her. I still recommend AMSOIL front to back, to anyone who'll listen.
I’ve got 15 gliders, my fleet average is 6.2. I bought a brand new cascadia this year and I’m getting 8MPG. The fuel difference alone is paying for the truck itself. I don’t see any reason to buy gliders anymore unless you’re running paper logs. The new trucks have 500k warranties and then you sell them and buy a new one!
Hello Justin, from California the birth place of alot of this emissions crap, just wanted to say keep using gliders for as long as you can, emissions trucks are nothing but headaches, computers, sensors that fail dealers and mechanics that can't Diagnose a engine problem because computers sending false, fault codes, they are a nightmare, especially for the small guys that operate just a few trucks like myself,
Have you ever considered running hydraulic power packs instead of pto pumps to keep hours off the engines and instead of running a 15L engine and burning all the fuel you could run a small diesel engine. They are similar in weight to an apu and some of the apu's actually have a hydraulic pump option. One of the businesses I own is a composite manufacturing company and since I purchased the business a few years ago I have diversified and expanded the product range into different markets and industries and I am currently exploring semi trucks. I am not considering making garbage like Talladega fiberglass, they make heavy junk chopper gun parts. Whatever parts I make will be aerospace grade vacuum infused carbon fiber or kevlar products. Some of the products I am thinking about making are replacement cab and sleeper panels which would be lighter, stronger and corrosion proof and being lighter just increases the amount of paying weight. I was also looking into manufacturing complete carbob fiber sleepers and possibly cabs. I could.make complete carbon fiber sleepers that look exactly like the originals and they would still have the look of huck bolt heads or I could make them completely smooth. Making new cabs would be quite a bit of work but they would be much lighter and stronger. I have already built a W900L hood for a show truck I am building for myself and I am making replacement carbon fiber 359 roof caps. I am trying to determine how big of a market there is for complete replacement 379 or w900 carbon fiber cabs.
Interesting , We had a power pack on w belt trailer we owned several years ago. It was a lil Honda that ran a hydraulic pump. You would need something pretty big to run a walking floor though. Requires a lot more pressure than a belt trailer
@@flintcreektransportAround 25hp would be required to run a walking floor trailer. I worked on a walking floor trailer once years ago and I believe it required 5gpm at 3000psi to operate correctly. If you had to guess, how many minutes per day does the engine run to operate the pto on average. Luckily you don't have to worry about idle time since you have non emissions trucks.
I see tonight that Jamie Davis had a wreck with his prized Rotator on Sunday 8 January. No injuries but quite a mess. Rebuild is underway. Video is up.
Mine is fully deleted! True delete! The only issue I have really is just a couple sensors. Pressure sensor and map sensor that controls the Mpg of the engine, if your getting really bad fuel mileage, replace those 2 sensors! But, my truck, I paid for a full out of frame rebuild and put an intake spacer kit in it. It averages about 7 to 8mpg. AND KW has 2 cup holders! Haaaaaa. Before the delete, my truck was in the shop not kidding, every other week or weekly for the Def crap. It sucked bad!
I love your channel Justin. I'd love to drive for you guys awesome equipment you guys are definitely the definition of a family business. Hope to run into you someday. I'm always out in New York areas! Godbless
Do you ever think there will come a point where it's mandated that these pre-emissions be taken off the road? I would love to get one as an o/o, but I worry that I would spend the money on it and then get shafted by some new law.
Every truck manufacturer spends no money on frame paint. I got 30 thousand on Mt new one and the power divider paint is all gone. Remember class pays 🤣 stay safe buddy happy trails
Hey Justin! Does that yruck burn any oil or coolant? I have a 6nz that was just rebuilt (11k miles ago) and I'm still adding a 1/4 gallon of coolant every 2 weeks or so. Should I not over analyze this until I het around 30k miles on the rebuild? Thanks
Justin you're a stand up guy and probably a pleasure to work for can see it the way you come across in all your videos keep up the good work.. also can't leave out classy looking fleet of real everyday working trucks!
Those newer trucks get 7-8mpg, yet def is insanely polluting and expensive, and you can't low idle them! Increasing the idle to keep them from automatically shutting off more than doubles fuel consumption per hour. When the truck is running an auto regen, you have to know ahead of time and keep your windows up and truck on recycle because it REEKS. Honesty, if the EPA thinks all this is worth 2mpg improvement, the EPA needs to be abolished on that alone. My life is ruined because of the EPA. I've been driving a 23' and it's quiet but the amount of little things that happen here or there add up quick. It's not worth the "extra mpg". If they removed the DEF system, I'd be willing to bet the truck can still get the same fuel mileage, if not better.
I work for a large leasing/rental company that also maintenances customer owned equipment so we work on a little bit of everything. These new trucks are all junk. Every make and model. The cost to maintain these emissions trucks that have all these new safety radar systems and computers that control everything with automatic transmissions and air disc brakes is outrageous. Then if you can even find the parts you need in stock the prices are absurd.
Love to see some of them from over there and don't think the USA wants to show a lot of them got a few I watch and then they are just the shorts want to see more of the builds also 👍🎯💯🇺🇸
I no this is an older video, but you are mych better off because you can't buy gliders anymore, and the reason for that is they no that your going to put a CAT,IN IT,WITH NO DAMN ID MISSION'S AND THERE ARE WAREHOUSES AROUND FULL OF CATS!!!! SO YOU GOTTA FIND A TRUCK WITH A BLOWN MOTOR SITTING IN THE WEDS SOMEWHERE AND FIX HER UP DO ALL THE NNEW TRANSMISSION 40THOUSAND REARS,NEW PAINT EVERYWHERE AND A BRAND NEW C15 CAT AND YOU WILL HAVE TWICE THE TRUCK AS THEM NEW ONES !!!!JUST SAY'N!!!😊❤ !!! GOD BLESS!!!🎉
Gust think of money you have saved !!! And you don't have but new once a year or tiwce, you start rebuilding your fleet, you take care of them trucks and they will last forever !!! They are going to do away with shit you watch, and ever buy electric!!! Spary them off to get the salt off !!! When you spary them off you saveing that truck !!!!just say'n!!!😊❤
If it don't have a yellow engine, I don't want it....glider is the way to go, that or assembled title, I'd rather rebuild an old Truck than anything, the new trucks have too much stuff that's not necessary, and takes the reliability out of it...
Justin, love your channel and your content. But… When you start talking about DEF jugs, I start laughing. You know that a fleet like yours would probably use those 250 gallon refillable totes of DEF fluid or a permanent steel tag not hundreds of 1 gallon plastic jugs. It just sounds weird and makes it seem like you don’t know what you’re talking about even though we know you do. It was a good video, and a very nice truck!
Peterbilt frames are the worst in the industry. When I was selling trucks I never had a used one that didn't have to be sandblasted and painted. Other brands hold up much better.
I’m with you Justin! No emission trucks! All pre emission and gliders! Great content my friend!🙏🏾👍🏾

Hey Justin! Does that yruck burn any oil or coolant? I have a 6nz that was just rebuilt (11k miles ago) and I'm still adding a 1/4 gallon of coolant every 2 weeks or so. Should I not over analyze this until I het around 30k miles on the rebuild? Thanks
Hopefully, they set liner protusion & heads correctly
Hope you have warranty !!! Something doesn’t sound right there
nice truck. if i buy another truck definitely gonna be a glider.
Justin you're a stand up guy and probably a pleasure to work for can see it the way you come across in all your videos keep up the good work.. also can't leave out classy looking fleet of real everyday working trucks!
I really want to get a pre elog pre emissions truck.
Def the way to go !!!!
You can't get a plastic bag at a grocery store but they'll put that def in millions of plastic jugs. That truck is ok for a Peterbilt.
Is truck 139 still in the fleet? Haven’t seen it in the videos lately
Yes !
Im surprise u havent got freightshaker coronado glider
Gr8 Vid & TRUCKIN CONTENT!!!!!!!! 😎📽📹🎥🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊💰👍🏾🙏🏾🙌🏾🇺🇸
Funny. The EPA's green trucks aren't green either
Australia is watching always 😅
Love to see some of them from over there and don't think the USA wants to show a lot of them got a few I watch and then they are just the shorts want to see more of the builds also 👍🎯💯🇺🇸
Sir where did u get your truck from
Martin Peterbilt
Good video! Beautiful truck.
Thanks 👍
Gliders are the way to go more reliable
I would like to see a super stretched out slammed down chop top long hood. I feel your business could use one or two.
Haha. Maybe someday !!!
Enjoyed the video. My favorite #T144
But…
When you start talking about DEF jugs, I start laughing.
😉😜 yes. We did have but ….. 1-2 trucks in the fleet doesn’t justify a 250 gal tote …..
Money and more breakdowns
No DEF for me, regen cost time and money.
Get a tote of DEF with a pump
Nice!
Nice
Justin they don’t build trucks like they use to ! No def
👍✌ out!!
Get a W990 and a Peterbilt 567
🤣🤣 nah. Not a fan of plastic trucks
@@flintcreektransport you said in the video your gonna eventually have to buy newer trucks. Aren’t they all “plastic”?
Trucking Obama is back!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Emission truck are not good at all too much expensive to fix its ridiculous i hate them pre emission is the best they are reliable ..
👍🏿👍🏿
Because they want to FORCE the Def trucks on you!
Shouldn’t you put Buckets 🪣 on your stakes 🤷🏾♂️
Our trucks don’t sit that long.
Peterbilt frames are the worst in the industry. When I was selling trucks I never had a used one that didn't have to be sandblasted and painted. Other brands hold up much better.
The reality that EV's are not practical is coming home to roost especially for trucking.
Stacks 😂
Gliders are the best emission engines are junk
