It is probably too late now to give advice regarding the reflux issue, but I'll do it anyway: I have been on this nutrition plan/diet for about 11 months, which has its own entire philosophy(all based on actual science) on reflux and other related issues: the plant paradox. I have been doing it to lose weight, most people do it because of much more severe issues (like auto-immune disorders) and it was primarily created to heal gut problems (which in turn helps to heal everything else in the body). So maybe check that out some time :) it is really amazing! I have lost 60pounds over 11months and I only had to change what I ate- not how much. So I know you guys dont need to lose weight, but it is not a weightloss plan at all, I just lost weight, because it healed my gut, which restored the natural balance to my body, which then realised it had a lot of excess energy stored and used it up instead of storing more. This plan can also reverse reflux issues :)
Hello from Colorado, USA! I've been following your channel for a little bit and wanted to tell you this afternoon I made the porridge with your recipe and it was wonderful! My husband was stationed in Korea 3 times during his US Army career and our love for Korean food was born. Thank you so much for providing us with the recipe! Pets for Beemo!
This would be a perfect meal for winter and for Sarah's stomach problem! Thank you for sharing the recipe! Here in the Philippines, we also have a version of that and it's called Arroz Caldo.
I’m home today after a laparoscopic abdominal surgery, and this was so inspiring! I used your video and made a very comforting savory rice porridge out of leftover brown rice and some leftover beef that I’d roasted with carrots. It wasn’t juk, but it was the version I was able to make with what I had on hand and it was so healing and nourishing. Thanks for the perfectly-timed video!
I hope you feel better soon Sarah! Just came across an other Canadian living in Korea (for 10 years now) he has a channel named "Dan does Korea" it's a beginning channel but I also like his style and I think it may be fun for you as fellow Canadians :)
I was just talking about this dish to my parents who are 90 and 92. You have a great recipe for it. Thanks! I'll be making it for them, and I'll look for a vegan version and a red bean version for me. It's cold here right now in Pennsylvania, USA and this will be a perfect dish. 3-5 inches of snow expected in two days from now, so I'll make a pot for Mom and Dad and they'll enjoy this on a cold day.
Such fun watching you cook Kyuho. You are very good. Sarah, I hope that you will feel better with each passing day. I really look forward to your videos. Stay safe guys.😊
Yes i think is universal. Every country has their own recipe. Here in Portugal we call it Canja de galinha / chicken soup which is cooking a chicken with chopped onion, carrots, and a good pinch of salt in a pot with water. We use the whole chicken and when the chicken is well cooked we take it of the pot and we add rice or really small pasta and mint leaves untill it's cooked and finally add the shredded chicken. It's sooooo good. It is a christmas soup too. And when we are ill our mom's make this soup for us🥰
This porridge looks very comforting and delicious. I make my chicken soup broth very similarly, the only difference is I add a small piece of skinned and crushed ginger and 1/2 I lemon or in a bind some lemon juice. Always look forward to watching your cooking segments Kyuho.
I also love porridge for bad health day. Love the garlic cloves and the soup you made. And... Please number the episode of ur Ugly Kitchen series before the series blow up soon.
I usually make a chinese noodle soup with chicken when I'm not feeling well, which is not often, but I will definitely add this to my rotation, simply because of cold weather, and because this looks too good not to. ♥️
The PA Dutch/Amish have a similar soup, but without the green onion, sesame, and seaweed! Also our Chicken Pot Pie (which is a stew with handmade noodles) sometimes uses a few threads of saffron.
This seems very similar to a comfort food I make - chicken or Turkey risotto. The biggest difference in how the rice gets gets cooked. Plus I add wine for taste and some parm at the end. Looks delicious! Great job Kyuho!!
Ohhhh ! j'adorerais manger du porridge au poulet cuisiné par cet excellent Kyuho !! lol +++ "cuckoo" à vous 2 !!!! Recette excellente aussi pour les intestins fragiles !!! Merci à vous !
Yum. 😍 I love the American version of chicken and rice soup so I bet the Korean version is delicious. You can’t go wrong with nice warm soup on a cold day, especially if you’re not feeling well.
Same as Chinese. We eat congee (another name for porridge) when we're sick. But we usually just eat it plain without putting anything (or just put a few dried scallops). Then, we eat the congee with pickled veggie, fermented tofu and salty egg. Also, we don't use cooked rice or cook rice in advance; we just boil and uncooked rice with water together.
I need to try this - thanks so much for sharing 🤗 Your videos are such an inspiration for me and my own TH-cam channel (started it a few weeks ago). Get better Sarah! 💕 P.S.: commenting for the TH-cam algorithm... hope it helps your channel grow even more 😃
OMGGGG looks so good. Jook in general is just yum! So when's Kyuho's Ugly Kitchen going to be a brick and mortar place I can eat at, like for reals??? :DDDD
Fan of your videos! Sarah - have you tried going grain free or brown rice free? Grains and brown rice are harder to process and often irritate those with stomach issues. They require increased bile production. I have stomach issues and those both are irritants for me. Just a suggestion!
The long wait is over for another kyuho's ugly kitchen 🥰😍 Omg super excited and it lokks like super yummy 🤤🤤 In the Philippines we also have that version and we call eat "Goto" and "Lugaw" 🍲🤤😍🥰
ooh I was looking for something super plain and simple after moving to a new city (even though it's the opposite of cold here in Pune XD) thanks for this~
Hi I know you made this Vlog in Jan, this is me just seeing it (sorry) but thank for putting it up....I've wanted to know what went into the porridge...I'll be make this love chicken and I'm going to try it with mushroom. Thanks again...
As a chinese american, I grew up enjoying rice porridge with pork and thousand year old egg. 🙂 Rice porridge is my favorite breakfast when it's cold or when I'm not feeling well.
The last time I made rice porridge was when I was highly feverish (...and I think I only had sausage and carrots for the side 😅😂). I cooked the porridge straight in the rice cooker (so no boiling it with the broth in the pot - I'll try that next time). In Indonesia chicken rice porridge is a breakfast dish 😄😃. I prefer thicker porridge consistency btw 😄
Hello Kyuho! The juk looks delicious. Can I ask if you had tried to cook the rice grains directly with the chicken broth? Was wondering if I can skip the rice cooker step. Thank you!
Sorry maybe I missed , but I knew that Sarah is a teacher . But what is Kyoho occupation ? Also I knew that Kyoho join the Korean army . But after that is he graduated from univ or else ? Sorry just curious or maybe i missed that ? 😄
The lower chunk of of cooked green onion is boiled with the chicken to give flavor to the chicken and the broth. If you want to save it to cut up to put in with the juk later, you can, BUT since it was boiled, it will be very wet and slippery, so quite dangerous to try and cut/dice~
In case anyone else was wondering unpolished rice is brown rice.
Kyuho seems like such a lovely person - what a dream life of harmony you guys seem to be living - you are amazing

I have to try this porridge, looks so comforting. Sarah's being well taking care of.
Feel better Sarah.

Ohhh, very cool that you both spent some time in Korea! SO very glad that you enjoyed the recipe-it’s a staple in our home 😊

It is so great to get an extra video this week. Great Video. Please feel better soon Sarah. Thank you Kyuho
Made this soup/porridge today and its really great!
Used leftover white rice from Chinese takeout. Not a bad health day just really wanted to try haha
This is exactly what I like to eat when I'm ill. I didn't know it was Korean, although I think it may be universal.
I think it’s universal. Chinese have it. Filipinos call it arroz caldo.

I'll have to try this. My wife and I use your Jjimdak recipe every Saturday for lunch. Delish.
I'm always amazed at the food portion Sarah and Kyuho eat....their portion is like appetizer for me :)
You’d be surprised if you came to Korea then 😅
Food for the soul...so appetising.😋👍 May i know what grains are used (apart from the brown rice)?
Yaaaaasss! What treat, and vlog on a non-Sunday. The porridge looks so yummy. I hope you feel better Sarah. ❤️
I usually make a chinese noodle soup with chicken when I'm not feeling well, which is not often, but I will definitely add this to my rotation, simply because of cold weather, and because this looks too good not to. ♥️
I was waiting for this

Oh girl. For congee we can out whatever we want. Century egg, fish, seafood...
@@AmelieZh Thanks for adding this Amelie! For plain congee, I should have specified that I only meant for people who are sick.
This is perfect for a winter day here in Bhutan. Greetings from the Himalayas!
Sarah, did you use the IPad to make the video’s thumbnail? Looks lovely ❤️ hope you guys are doing well 🥰
Ohh, yes I did-thank you so much 🥰♥️
Such a good hubby!

위가 안좋을땐 양배추즙이 최고던데...
집에서 직접 갈아 마시면 젤 좋은데 파는거 사서 마셔도 괜찬을듯~
암튼 건강 잘 챙기시길....
I'm so happy with this recipe.I made chicken juk 2 months back but that time I couldn't find an easy recipe so I made it according to me😂❤
OMGGGG looks so good. Jook in general is just yum! So when's Kyuho's Ugly Kitchen going to be a brick and mortar place I can eat at, like for reals??? :DDDD

Hello :) All the ingredients are listed in the description box.
규호님이 만드신 닭죽 너무 맛있어보이네요ㅠㅜ 기름진거 먹다 속안좋아지면 진짜 죽만한게 없는거 같아요 소화도 잘되고요ㅎㅎ

Hello Kyuho! The juk looks delicious. Can I ask if you had tried to cook the rice grains directly with the chicken broth? Was wondering if I can skip the rice cooker step. Thank you!

Yumm
Wow! I love it! 😍😍
위안좋을때 저는 카베진이 정말 도움됐어요 참고하세요
Oooo I am going to make this! What kind of rice is that? Much love from the USA.❤
Someone commented above that Unpolished Rice is simply Brown Rice. A Key Word Search can verify. ~From Rainy California ☔🌦
Kyuho's Ugly Kitchen doesn't look so ugly anymore but I love the title. What a nice refreshing vlog, stay safe and healthy.
That looks sooooo delicious! What does Kyuho's mother think of his cooking videos?
Your rice looks soo good, what type of grains do you mix with it ?
The package just says in Korean ‘15 grains’ and ‘unpolished rice’ 😁
Omg this is the same as Aroz Caldo! 😃😃😃 the method of cooking and all the ingredients are all the same from what my mom taught me! 🙀
how long did you boil the chicken for? thanks ^__^ can't wait to try this recipe.
Good 👍
I wanna try Patjuk!!!
Aw. I want congee now.
this makes me hungryyyyy 😁
Yummy 🤤
What kind of rice cooker to you have? I like the ‘cuckoo’ sound 😁
Happy day a new video, hey how about a little cookbook guys
That would be amazing if we ever had the opportunity ☺️
위장엔 양배추가 짱이죠.
Sorry maybe I missed , but I knew that Sarah is a teacher . But what is Kyoho occupation ? Also I knew that Kyoho join the Korean army . But after that is he graduated from univ or else ? Sorry just curious or maybe i missed that ? 😄
What a good husband. Too bad my current bf can't cook. 😹
I was watching this video on my phone on top of my chest. When Kyuho’s stomach growled, I rubbed my stomach to check it if was me. 😅
LOLLL!! 😂
I'm totally gonna try this. But can I ask why you threw out the cooked green onion?
The lower chunk of of cooked green onion is boiled with the chicken to give flavor to the chicken and the broth. If you want to save it to cut up to put in with the juk later, you can, BUT since it was boiled, it will be very wet and slippery, so quite dangerous to try and cut/dice~
