Selena likely did win. Hexblade, flash, NFU, and so much more.
Ike got these:
- +8 stats
- Tempo
- 7 point true DR
- DR pierce
- Spectrum/pre-charge effect
I think this is neat. His new true DR stacks with Laguz Friend, and the DR pierce and pre-charge combines with Mayhem Aether
The refines are pretty decent all things considered, Selena got the biggest glow-up since her weapon before was basically nothing. Nemesis's DR is actually stronger than GB4 (60/30 DR) and only 5% less than Bride Lapis's 80/40 so its not far off from stock standard. Fallen Ike I expect to be pretty alright, even if you stack Laguz Friend you at least stack flat DR with his weapon
Any unit that can start of turn flash debuff is a winner in my book
Fallen Ike's is quite good, especially since with Laguz Friend 4, he can kind of play as a speedy bargain Emblem Ike with outsourced NFU and the ability to make use of Dodge, even if it's only half as effective.
Let's be real, his refine was probably never going to match up to our expectations.
to be honest, i think they did actually kind of give F!Ike the key aspects of Laguz Friend 4 in his weapon:
-flat damage reduction (7 instead of 20% of his def/res)
-special jumping (50% of his max CD instead of -2; this would be -2 in the case of mayhem aether)
-neutralize enemy DR
Given that this is just a weapon refine (on a DC weapon, no less) i wouldn't expect the full effects of Laguz Friend 4 to be present on his refine. the fact that he already got a scaled-down version of LF4 is pretty decent.
you mentioned that you were hoping for NCD4 in his refine but that was part of E!Ike's weapon, not LF4. i do actually think NCD4 is probably his best B-slot for an omnitank build. one positive aspect of not getting the "actual" LF4 is that F!Ike's skill-based DR isn't cut by 50%, so he really is getting 30% DR, then flat DR.
It's not a god-tier refine that will turn him into an E!Ike clone but it is a decent one (imo) that turns him into a lite-version of E!Ike (even moreso if you give him the E!Ike ring)!
You could still give him Laguz Friend 4 to really stack the special jumping and Flat DR, even if the DR piercing is redundant.
@@MrGksarathy I was thinking the same. Massive special cool down charges for free with big reduction stacking especially if you stack it with ATK/SPD Excel, well worth doubling up on the piercing imo

I said this on Oblivion's video, but I'm upset they didn't give Nemesis auto follow-up. You're forced to run Quick Reposte seal on him or try to one-shot the opponent, both of which aren't super ideal nowadays.
As for Fallen Ike, I kinda had a feeling his refine wasn't going to be super amazing. Given IS's track record with DC weapon refines.
For Nemesis, i think A/D Bulwark 4 will be a top option, maybe paired with the new Breath of Life 4 so give big def, more DR, keep his team healthy, and the enemies from getting around him
finally someone who thinks its okay(reddit does not like it). it is good he gets guard bearing over a 1 off and breath of life 4 is good for him. he can run gambit4 or laguz friend 4 (it halves his percent dr but he has high def for it)
one thing i wish they did was make better refine icons they sre all the same

@@Garvant_ and his dr is really easy to achieve and has limitless range. keep his allies away and he will soakup the hits like he did in 3 houses destroy the elites then you can hurt him properly
Well, F!Ike got a mini Immovable (LF4) in his refine. He got flat DR, DR Piercing on Special and Special jump, all just minus the forced vantage+desperation on the opponent and tuned down a bit
Well, it's flat 7 DR, but how much are you expecting to get from 20% of his Def anyway? Fully merged boosted etc., we'd be looking at about mid 40 Def, so ~8 or 9 flat Dr from LF4
@@stellerseider270 Yup, my point was to TACHO's reaction to "now it overlaps with LF4" when he's getting some LF in the weapon directly, possibly just to be complemented with NCD4 in the B-Slot
All I know is that none of these refines are for Múspell, so I can safely ignore them.

Selena probably won. You can slot her on a cav line easily. No one else is really meta.
Ike is definitely second, not a bad refine at all. It really sucks Ikes special jumping only works on offensive specials. Otherwise GLR+LF4 would've been goated.
I picked up Summer Selena years ago just because I liked her. ... I am somehow rewarded for that. Thanks past self.
11:04 At least LG doesn't cut %DR when getting hit by AoE so he could get the full benefit of his %DR and LG vs AoE at cost of being frail at the combat phase. 🤔
I think F!Ike should have gotten a pre combat damage effect, but his refine is good enough, at least he didn't get a bad refine and now is usable even if he isn't a meta unit. Anna got a good refine, love the canto 1 and dodge effect she gives to herself amd allies. Probably S!Selena got the best refine, hexblade is a great effect to have. Now I only await for a refine for Yuri.
Fallen Ike's refinement is pretty much a Laguz Friend similar effect.
- The true DR he gets would be similar to the Def/Res DR from LF.
- Null DR on foe
- Special charge, kinda like LF. However, Fallen Ike gets special charge before his attack, while Laguz Friend grants special charge at start of combat. This means Fallen Ike can counter Scowl.
So you can still run Laguz Friend for extra True DR and extra damage.
Also, Mayhem Aether is 4 CD. Laguz Friend will make it 2 Cooldown at start of combat, and then the refinement will finish charging it.
You can even run Emblem Marth's Ring to make it 3 Cooldown and still be able to use Laguz Friend, with now better Scowl counter effect.
If you put laguz friend on Ike, wouldn't that stack with his 7 true Dr and also loop his 4 turn Aether perfectly?
Yes, but it would have redundancy with the DR piercing

@@aeolus15 I’m aware. It’s just that since Roy was an earlier DC, his refine and remix were underwhelming. He’s not the worst out of the fire heroes but he has more to desire. Inhaling a lot of copium for his emblem version.
If you give Ike Laguz friend 4, is that going to stack? Because it would mean he gets unpierceable damage from LF4 + 7 extra, charges Mayhem Aether instantly and retaliates with dr nullification.
Plus he is a statball because of built in Unity
It'll stack yeah. But then he can't have Null-C 4. You have to choose one or the other.

Well there refines
Nemesis was the only one I cared about. His is decent. A lot of stats, some really good DR that could stack with distant bonus doubler and gambit, and he’s got special charges and guard
I'm not 100% sure but a Laguz Friend Nemesis build might be the way. Gotoh's AoE special damage reduction status works with Laguz Friend, you still reduce AoE specials by 80%. So I'm thinking for Nemesis, giving him Laguz Friend 4 might make him a really good AoE special tank. Harmonic Igrene would ting off him with his 75% damage reduction on her special and then the flat damage reduction would let him tank her regular attacks. He then one shots on the counter.

@@jamesterry3464 I don't mean to suggest pairing him with Gotoh. I was just using Gotoh's AoE special reduction status as a test.
Laguz Friend 4 cuts your own damage reduction in half but it doesn't cut the AoE special damage reduction from Gotoh in half. I tested it with Gotoh and Emblem Ike. Ike still reduced an AoE Special by 80% even with Laguz Friend 4.
So my thinking is with Nemesis, he has 75% damage reduction on the first attack, including AoEs. So by himself, with Laguz Friend 4, he could tank someone like Igrene or Fallen Ursula. You wouldn't need Gotoh. You could use Nemesis in Astra season while you use Gotoh in light season.
I'm a little sad they played into Ike's special (which sucks) rather than his unity effect (would've been much more unique and cool)
Unity effects are extremely played out IMO, and I always preferred debuff neutralization to begin with.
@@MrGksarathy Played out? How do you mean? There are only 2 units in the whole game that utilize Grand Strategy, and a small handful that have it built into their weapon.
@@malcolmfletcher2659 So many meta units have weapons that give them extra damage based on debuffs or have some form of Foe Penalty Doubler that offsets the Unity effect and makes debuff neutralization much more useful in comparison.
Bro, I’m so sad about the nemesis refine that it isn’t even funny. I gave him gambit 4, times pulse 3, planned to sacrifice a Diamont for the rest of the build. Man, I was so ready for the refine only to get this… I mean it isn’t bad but it isn’t meta changing either. Not terrible but not impressive.
These refines kinda suck lol
What kind of refines do you expect, if these refines "suck"?!
@stellerseider270 believe it or not, refines used to be on par with new units
@@Ian-fi7co believe it or not, Refines used to be bracing stance and quick riposte.
With all the blatant powercreep, that's happening monthly by now, I'm honestly glad units get some nice and fun stuff with refines, and don't act as yet another source of powercreep.
Plus, if you don't compare them to the very top of each banner, I'd say refines can pretty much hold up to new stuff.
If you're measuring everything against the very top of the meta, and declare everything else kind of bad, then you can't even look a month or two back, because those units are also literally unplayable compared to the new ones...
Refines have gotten better steadily, while new units are just going rampant...
