Any solutions and how to get the door to go back down? It goes up OK but sometimes it doesn’t want to go down. It has a long beep then I have to manually push it down
@@williamgarcia5275 first take a damp paper towel and wipe the struts while the hatchback is open to remove the dust. Then I took some w-40 and sprayed it on a paper towel and wiped it on the strut really good. So far it’s working!!
Thank you Gary for sharing this information. I bought my 2022 platinum Highlander (Hybrid), for some reason, the trunk opened by itself 3 times within 4 months. I thought I was accidently depressed the trunk opening button, but it wasn't the case. I also noticed that the Toyota Apps didn't send any warning signal to show that the trunk was open. Under Vehicle Status of the apps, I can monitor the Doors, Windows and Tire Pressure, Health Alerts & Schedule Maintenance, except the Trunk opening warning. Do I need to bring to bring back to Toyota for software upgrade?? Thank you.

Thanks, you were right my Salesperson did not show me how this functions or how to activate it on my new 2021. I guess I had to buy a Land Cruiser for this extra service. LOL
There’s another issue, once the lift gate is lifted, the gate wouldn’t close. It would open fine, but wouldn’t close. And it’s not the power button in the glove box. I’m guessing could it be that there are sensors in the trunk where your belongings have to be cleared of some area? I don’t know what it could be other than electrical issues. What could it be?
I have opposite problem. My kid ran down the battery. Jumped it off and now the gate - which was open - won’t close. This video didn’t solve the problem
That key fob button for that rear door is very sensitive I’ve seen mines open up just by it being in my pocket and slightly disturbed I think Toyota should make that button to be pressed for certain amount of time like few seconds for that door to open

Now it would be great to figure out why a new 2022 highlander lifgate can't CLOSE properly and stay closed. Any ideas on that?

I gat a 2016 harrier and my tail gate won't close nor open and it's in the on position. Tried some new motor but still no change

Not really sure right off. There are sensors around the edge of the door to keep it from closing on hands and such
