      Are you for real? He was hiding from the question. He changed and downplayed the question. The gentleman didn't ask anything about evil. The question was: why does consciousness allow violence against children. Even after the answer given, the conclusion seems that for the single lóving conciousness, manifesting as a separable individual, ís worth the price of children suffering gruesomely(!) That we, live in a reality, wherein a single lóving conciousness, apparantly, couldn't care less about screaming children in agony. It's a price worth paying?

    • @catem3102
      @catem3102 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Surely there's no meaning in 'price' to the Infinite. It will include everything. Whole. Inclusive.
      'Everything' includes both ends of the good/bad poles of duality. Separation causes vulnerability, fear, defence, evil. Consciousness manifests and it can manifest infinite possibilities, and one of those will be violence to a child. That's the worst possible dream/manifestation.
      Some of us live nightmares, some of us in mostly peace.

    • @idrisbey3063
      @idrisbey3063 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Gabor Mate said that, trauma occurs in a child not because of the violence, but the sense of separation that violence induces. If there was no sense of separation in it, violence would not traumatize at all. So what is truly gruesome is not the violence, it's the separation.

    I always get stuck on the “WHY”. “WHY” does Infinite consciousness/awareness/God need to collapse itself into our separate selves/minds and forget about its true, all-knowing, all loving and eternal self? Isn’t that enough? Why does it “NEED” to have this illusionary/false experience of separation which can also experience Evil as well as good?? I guess that will never be answered.

      Rupert does sorta cover that in the first section. But you have to fill in the blanks a bit.
      people have attempted to give nice poetic answers to your question. and they are good answers.
      perhaps the absolutely terrible horrible answer for us living the illusion of separation is their is no why.
      you have to have the perspective of a limited consciousness to have a why. you can talk about expression of possibilities, spontenaity, etc but in some ways they are hiding.
      the terrible is pure and simply terrible. their is no getting out of the terrible because it is in-fact terrible. their is no get out of jail free card. The masters dont really have anything to teach, and the old zen dudes will make you sit outside the dojo for days on end to make that point.
      and as Rupert says its the responsibility of those who have realised all of it to live the implications of it.

    Having been molested one time and raped another in my childhood in this body, I can fully attest that this response is as clear as can be from Rupert.
    Where separation begins to be believed, all things are possible, yet oneness remains as it is always.
    Its repercussions are still in effects from the finite's point of view yet it is already forgiven, even a non-happening if we want to use that word on the ultimate level.
    So wonderful, so wonderful!
    Beautiful explanation, the depth of this message never ceases to beautify itself.

At first, I was a bit lost with the explanation at the first 5 mins but it is worth it to fully understanding the rest of the video and the answer to the question. The last comment was perfect. Thanks for what you do Rupert. Blessings to the questioner for his strong empathy. This can be done by first transforming ourselves and then allowing that to emanate outwards.

    Rupert got it about right. Does your consciousness sometimes have terribly violent "nightmares" where you are killing, and running, and full of fear and self destruction? Of course, we all do sometimes. Does that nightmare make you evil when you wake up? No. But, it is a temporary exploration of your self in the dream. Terrifying? Yes. A part of your fundamental awake self. No. Be at peace. Nothing can really harm you. 😊

    Rupert is a pro. He had to temporarily "play along" with the questioner's fixed idea of good and evil in order to answer his question. It's hard to answer a question like that with a non-dual explanation. There's too much that needs to be untangled first. In polytheism, the world is amoral because no one can predict how the gods will treat humans. You just try to please the gods and hope they have mercy. In Judaism, you see the post-exilic authors struggle with the problem of why God allows good people to suffer and bad people to thrive, even after his promises to his people. While ambiguous, I think it's implied that God has a larger purpose in mind and we have to have faith and be good even if there is no reward. In Christianity, God has a more "laissez faire" approach. He's rooting for us to be good, and will reward us in the afterlife even though anything might happen to us in this life. That's what the image of Christ on the cross is meant to represent. In non-duality, you understand that the idea of objective morality is a limited mental construct that has to be transcended in order to form a holistic experience of being. But you'll get crucified if you say that to "good" people! You have to use the right language that conforms to that person's current level of understanding, and I think he did that here beautifully.

    Why does infinite consciousness/God WANT to manifest itself as a finite form? Why does infinite consciousness want to know itself? If the manifested form is always seeking to go back to its source as the only way it can find true happiness, then why on earth does infinite consciousness want to do this manifestation business? Why can't it just be as it is unmanifested?

    Yes, so true! Consciousness is infinite so it must contain the sum of all possible outcomes. The good, the bad, and the ugly. But not everyone is ready to hear this because their ego will be hurt "so I'm not special?", "I don't have a purpose?" then Rupert will remind us that we are actually the infinite. The ego will be happy and empowered (another egotic reaction). Do you see how we oscillate from one extreme to the other?

    It is an explanation having no effect in the world of manifestation. If murder, rape, torture, abuse will manifest indefinitely, what use is to say that are illusions if the damage might be eternal in the heart of the victim? You know, we can play the spiritual card until the train hits you really, really hard, or the bear eats you alive, then you can say it's an illusion, of course!

    • @curiosity_saved_the_cat

      Sorin Atanasiu I can tell from experience that teachings like this have a profound effect in the manifested world. Without people like Rupert Spira reminding me of what I inherently know/see is true, I would have made different choices in my life with possibly detrimental consequences.
      In the animal kingdom, cruelty is everyday's business. Much more so than between humans, you'd probably agree. It's the level of consciousness that differs us from animals. Animals are mostly driven by instinct (laws of nature). This increase in consciousness gives us the opportunity to emphasize and sympathize; see the other as yourself (or better; remembering the illusory nature of being separate from 'others') and hopefully decrease cruelty (rape torture, abuse) that is inherent to unconscious behaviour. Not only can an increase in awareness prevent evil, it can also provide guidance in the ability to let go of pain/fear/hatred in your heart so you don't hold on to it for 'eternity'.
      The 'spiritual card' as you call it, is in fact the most (probably the only) form of progress that really matters. Besides, the only reason you're able to avoid getting hit by a train, is because you're aware of the danger and the solution for the problem, again awareness/spirit is the key.

      Faye Hall True. Don't get me wrong I love animals. In fact, many of the times it's a lot easier and more pleasant to interact with an animal than with humans I would say. On the other hand, humans - in general - should have a greater opportunity to become aware of infinite consciousnexs than animals due to a more evolved level of consciousness. If animal consciousness evolved more, animals would at first probably run into the same problem as humans; the illusion of 'I'. Animals simply don't have the capacity to be aware of this illusion (at least not to the degree it becomes problematic like it is with most humans). Ironically there are similarities between a species that is beyond the illusory self (enlightened humans) and a species that has not yet reached the illusory self (animals).

      The more developed the brain, the more unaware of the universal essence. As our brains develop and become more complex -- same with other species -- the more developed becomes the ego (or separate self) and sense of separation, fear, and isolation.

    • @curiosity_saved_the_cat
      @curiosity_saved_the_cat 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marcelo Lima Wouldn't you agree that in an ideal situation, the unity two or more people are able to experience (or, connection with our universal essence), far exceeds that of any other animal with less developed brains? The more complex the brain is, the greater the opportunity for both an elaborate form of hypnosis, as well as the opportunity the see through that illusion. Any form of power can be used for good and evil/ignorance, don't you think this also applies to a relatively powerful brain?

    I love Rupert.The issue can be solved by understanding that this is a dream in Gods Mind! This is the key. Whatever happens in ones dream is of no consequence once you realize it is just a dream. All the violence/wars etc are part of an illusion and once you wake up ( The Awakened One) there are no REAL children towards whom violence happened! This is all a dream/nightmare if you prefer!! The nasty bits are there on purpose so that the infinite that you actually are wakes up. One does not wake up from a pleasant dream so easily! I hope i am making sense!!

    While I do understand that evil is created through multiple layers of separation, from the point of view of the child there is an immature creature forced into feeling separate through a traumatic experience. Which only makes sense if the separation is necessary in order to achieve spiritual maturity. In the bigger picture separation is indeed necessary in order for unity to be experienced. In other words, both (whether you call them separation and unity or evil and good) are necessary in order to grow spiritually. See the German book "Das Mysterium der Einheit in der Vielheit".

      What I can understand is...that
      "we" are in the Mind of God,
      in His imagination...
      That is a dream, like a movie
      that is being proyected so God
      can experience whatever....
      But for God nothing is evil nor
      good.
      All the apparently evil stories are
      for helping Him to awaken from
      His own dreams.
      God has no form or shape...so
      He imagen an Ego-body...it's His
      vessel for experiencing. But it's
      only a thought...that's why there
      is no evil or good.
      God surrenders His own thoughts
      and believes when the "time" has
      come.

  • @darrenfromla
    @darrenfromla 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    no matter how you slice up concepts about consciousness "contracting" or "forgetting it's own infinite being" or "seeming to become separate" we can't escape the apparent fact that consciousness is indeed performing acts of what we call evil through it's boundless creativity in the form of disturbed and sick people. As Rupert has said, "nothing comes before consciousness." Rupert would be the first to tell you that nothing exists apart from consciousness although he's trying to get around that in this video. Not sure why. Maybe because it's bad news. Consciousness creates beings that feel separate and cut off from the rest of the world. It makes billions and billions of these people. Every single one of us actually. Some of us find a way back home but the vast majority of us don't. All of us are guilty of wrongdoing. Less of us are guilty of flagrant crimes. Less of us are guilty of severe crimes. Less of us still of sick and horrific acts. So we're talking about millions of humans around the world killing raping torturing etc.I'd like to be wrong and someone help me understand if I am because I don't want what I'm saying to be true. If everything is consciousness than consciousness can't forget itself and even if it could forget itself it would still be consciousness. That would be like you being able to step out of your body and then forgetting where you left it. But consciousness can't step out of consciousness. Nothing can step out of consciousness. That's a fundamental axiom of the nondual teachings right?? Rupert is stumped on this one. Nice guy though

      There is more than this earth layer and consciousness, such as causal bodies that go from one life to the next to gain experience. The questioner is identifying with a form and taking LIFE personally.I understand.
    Understand the play of these words.(Nothing Means Anything.)We give meaning to everything by identifying with something.But,Ultimately WE have no permanent Identity.Everything is just the play of form.None of it is serious until you believe in an identity.Everything is play.Sometimes playing can get quite ruff and painful.Children who take the play too seriously feel very much neglected and abused.Grown children,even I my self get lost in the sand boxes of identity.
    We get lost in our play and our ruff housing.We get lost in the stories as of the grains of sand upon a Sea Shore.We lose our sense of SELF.We identify with a grain of sand being trampled upon and take it personally.The person isn’t real.The ego is a mutable construct.That doesn’t mean it doesn’t feel real.Like a night terror when you wake up.We play,and we get too ruff,and too serious with our selves.& we take for granted that the Truth is WE are Really Nothing @ ALL.
    There is nobody else.ALL is ONE.There is One Giver & The Same ONE is the Receiver.Nobody is doing anything to anybody else.Everything you do,you are doing it to your SELF.Everything you give or receive,you are the giver,receiver,& you are also every gift good or ill.It is ALL YOU.

    There is more to it. Violence toward others is also a price of duality. The more "good" one wants to aquire, the more "bad" he create as a shadow to it. How many crimes was done in the name of "good" things? In the name of (blood?) "God", country, family and so on. Perhaps, only one who understood non-duality as his own nature could avoid it and the game of "good" and "bad" at all. Imagine the whole world as your family and there are no favorites. Not even a family but a part of yourself. Will there be a reason to take something from someone (yourself)? Will there be even a possibility for it?

    6:47: The separate self and our primary duty.

  • @Jacadz
    @Jacadz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    In having separated from God or infinite consciousness in the search for our individuality or separate selves, we have become unconsciously fearful and guilty of having usurped the power of God. Been made in the image of God and not in Reality separate, we have created a whole world in which to project our fear and guilt onto as it is so unbearable and against our true nature. Thus we live in a world of victims and victimisers and all the encumbered horror. The good news is what appears to exist outside of God, The Omnipresent is only a dream and has no Real existence. But it is we who chose the finite and the ensuing guilt and fear and it is we who have the power to undo this decision. Rupert’s suggestion of our first duty to see everyone as ourselves seems a very hard task but no one gets out of this until we all do.

    • @Jacadz

      Yes it is the metaphysics of ACIM. I didn’t mention it as it comes with many preconceived ideas already and can be easily dismissed. I notice how so many wonder how evil exists and the answers that are given, though technically true never satisfy our western mind in particular. And many consider the question why to be taboo or at least pointless. For me it made the world of difference to have this understanding of ACIM.

    • @Jacadz
      @Jacadz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lee Paiva. I meant to say “this understanding of ACIM” so I have added that in. Yes ACIM definitely explains the metaphysics of our existence in a complete and comprehensive way that nothing else I know of does. But as The Course says, it’s not for everyone but there are teachers for everyone. I love to listen to Rupert and he has helped my understanding a great deal. Yes, agree about the ending....but also love Rupert’s answer and reminder of our “sacred duty”.

      I was also thinking this. I could have listened to much more on this topic, but what i've noticed with Rupert is that he keeps these talks pretty straight on the non-dual track- which is fair enough. Whilst the root of human atrocities can of course always be tracked back to the illusion of separation, having not dismantled that illusion considerably myself, I can't say that this answer was all that satisfying. Which is why I have found more digestible explanations from individuals such as Gabor Mate, John Bradshaw, Alice Miller and even Eckhart Tolle. Obviously on a different level, but mapping out trauma- collective, transgenerational and individual has been a big help for me.
      As far as everyone having the power to undo this decision, of slavery, it is simply beyond the reach of most individuals at this point in time. Who knows how many generations it will take just for the nervous system to become collectively adapted to handle the energy of god.

The highly organized, child trafficking ring that he ran used very sophisticated methods of mind control. I saw and experienced some of the worst of human evils, many people would not even believe. I was also used in government MK Ultra mind control experimentation. I have had D.I.D my whole life. This ring purposely caused extreme dissociation through drugs, torture and electric shock/near drowning. They then purposely created separate parts that they controlled and that were kept out of daytime awareness. Our system had hundreds of parts, multiple layers of programming and booby traps to go off if I ever remembered everything, which I did. I had 2 NDE's at the hands of these abusers. I left the body and watched everything. They were frantically trying to get me back and it wasn't working. They began to talk about how to dispose of my body. I then went to the light and remembered who we all really are. There was no time, everything was simultaneous. It was nothing and everything, zero and infinity, simultaneously. Pure awareness and pure unconditional love. There was no judgement. I saw that evil is not ultimately real, it comes from the seeming disconnection/separateness. I saw that nobody is ever left behind.

      An understanding of The Nature Of Things will clarify a whole lot. Pain and Pleasure belongs *exclusively* to the Realm Of Mind and unfortunately that is exactly where we are. The Infinite is NOT Mind...it is Pure Existence Itself, and Pure Existence does not have a preference for either Pain or Pleasure, they are just experiences arising and disappearing within the Field Of Pure Existence. To deny the Realm of Mind the experience of Pain is also to deny it the experience of Pleasure. "God" is the Field where pain, pleasure, hope, despair, confusion, clarity, sanity, insanity etc all exist...and ALL are just *temporary* experiences within "God" that one SHOULD not be too attached.....
