  • What a great return to Charmouth this weekend first time since 2019. It was good to be back out on this challenging little hill again. The car went fantastic all weekend and whilst a little bouncy at times felt on rails. Saturday was sadly cut short and down to 1 timed run due to an incident with a gas main. Unfortunately these things do happen, the main thing was that the chap was not injured and hopefully the car can be repaired, it has happened before and additional measures were put in place on Sunday to prevent it from happening again. Had a good result though with a class win and 2nd overall, well done to Andrew Forsyth for FTD on the Saturday.
Sunday started off with a small hint of wet stuff with some random small drops falling out of the sky but it stayed away and the practice run was faster than the Saturday timed run going under the 26s for the first time. It was then time to start chipping away. Had a great 2nd run after lunch taking 0.2 seconds out of the class record followed up by another 0.12 off the record on the last timed run lowering the record to 25.17. Well done to Tom Williams for a cracking time going into the low 26s. Andy again took the top spot overall being in the 24s with Phil Montgomery-Smith recording a 25.07 in his last timed run. Congratulations must go to Phil for breaking the outright hill record with a 24.38 which was done on a run after the competition runs had ended unfortunately it doesn’t officially count but does mean it is there to play for on his next visit to Manor farm.
Well done to Archie and Alice on your weekend at Charmouth, fantastic times, was watching you chip away on the hill and on the timesheets all through the weekend, really well done.
Big thanks to Woolbridge Motor Club for putting on such a great event and thank you to Manor Farm for having us back to play. Massive thanks to the marshals for all your hard work it was as always great to see so many friends on the hill.
Here is the new class record 25.17 from Sunday. Really happy not sure there was too much more in there, nearly nailed every inside apex, went in a little too hot on the paddock exit and missed the left hand apex by about 6 inches which made it a little tight going back to the right but the car hung on to carry the speed into the last section of the hill.
Thanks to Archie for the great videos he sent me which one was included in the video.
Off to Cornwall next weekend for Tregrehan Speed Hillclimb.
