  • What a weekend. The final weekend at Gurston Down for 2022 was a fantastic event to finish the Gurston season off. Well done must go to the organising teams at Gurston who put on brilliant events all season. Everything has been spot on and you all deserve a round of applause for all your efforts. Massive thanks to the marshalling teams at Gurston this year who have had to handle some very difficult situations this year but have been brilliant always.
Saturday started off red hot out of the blocks with the first run being in the 31s a great start and hopefully a good sign of what was to come. The afternoon was awesome with lowering my pb on the second timed run to 30.62, breaking the HSA class i record and taking the class win. It was good enough to put me 3rd qualifier in the run off. The run off went even better lowering the pb bar to a 30.52. Unfortunately I forgot to turn on the go pro 🙈. The time was good enough for 3rd in the run off 0.4 away from the Saturday winner Andrew Forsyth.
With Dad away at the BTCC on Sunday it was just myself in the Jedi. Big thanks to Adrian Lewis and Sarah Forsyth for taking off the front tyre wraps on my way to the line. Thank you again both so much. Sunday didn’t start so well with the car popping and banging its way to the top of Gurston in a 34. The afternoon started better with a 30.93 but an engine cut just before the finish signalled maybe old issues resurfacing. The second time run was faster if not a little bit untidy on the approach to the bottom of karosel and then clobbering the curb at the top but it was good enough for 3rd qualifier for the run off with a 30.91. Sadly the day ended there as there was a rather unhealthy knocking coming from the gearbox, gutting but these things happen, we will be back and with what I’ve got planned faster than ever. The gearbox is now fixed and fingers crossed I have solved the missing issues with a damaged injector rail seal replaced as it seems to have corrected the fluctuation in fuel pressure I noticed on Sunday.
Well done to Tony Wiltshire for run off win on Sunday and the top 10 championship win and Clive Stangle for the Gurston championship win, fantastic drives all season and well deserved.
Off to wiscombe this weekend for the five clubs meeting.
