Geofón is a sensitive geophone adjusted for field recording purposes. Originally designed for seismic measurements, it can be used with regular field recording equipment to capture very faint vibrations in various materials and even soil.

This reminds me of one time when our band didn't have a bass drum available. We buried a vocal mic in the ground and then our drummer would stomp the ground. Worked well!

Really tempted to buy two the next time it's in stock. Feels like having two would increase the possibilities a significant amount, way more than twice. That's a lot of money though... Audio recording is an expensive hobby.
Also, I love the dark sound of a piano through the Geofón. Will definitely be recording one myself.

Hi! Great ideas for where to place it. A recorder with better frequency response at low frequencies would be better and with 32 bit floating point would speed up the work. The problem with this microphone is availability: it is almost always out of stock and you have to subscribe to the newsletter to be informed about availability even if they run out almost immediately. Good work, keep it up

@@tanjoysound Almost impossible I would say. Think, today it was available again at 17 CET time Europe, but in 4 minutes all units were sold. They could get rich! :-)

If you want to buy a LOM Geophone but it´s always sold out. There is a new Manufacturer in Town that makes almost exactly the same Geofon.
I will soon Review it on my Channel.

Two remarks... Why use a Tascam DR which frequency response starts at 20 Hz whilst the Geofón is capable of capturing from 10 Hz? The use of for instance a Sound Devices would respect the capability of the Geofón much more.
Second... You would get much better stereo spread if you would place the mics further away from each other. Putting two mics as close as you portrait in this movie may even result in a more muddy sound which doesn't outshine a proper mono recording.
These remarks just meant as friendly constructive tips. The Geofóns are definitely well done! Keep up the good work!

If you use the recorder, how do you mean it captures at 20hZ ? You're not using the Tascam microphones, you are recording whatever the Geofon is sending, isn't that right ?
@@jamesmeustache7740 The DR-05X has a frequency response of 20 Hz - 20 kHz. It doesn't allow lower or higher frequencies via external microphones. It's simply put just a limit chosen by the developer.
A Sound Devices 744T for example supports a frequency response from 10Hz to 40kHz, giving the option of capturing a broader range in sound.
Your placing them way to close. Sound travels a lot faster in higher mass (compared to air)
