This is probably the best video I got from TH-cam in ages. The man is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic towards technology, science and sound in general. I can't believe I watched this for free!
I return here quite frequently. One of the best lectures on location sound on the internet
This is what the internet promised to be
Such a spectacular lecture from an enthusiastic, respectful and down to earth professional!
Great lecture about sound, mindfulness, moments, hidden compositions. Thanks, greetings from Poland!
THANK YOU for this wonderful lecture!! Thank you TH-cam algorithm :)
"listen THROUGH technology, not TO technology." I'll remember that one, thanks (although I am waiting for an order with new mics...)
I’m so glad I came across this video. I have so much respect for Yiorgis, I wish I was there. This man is so passionate about the art of field recording 🔊
That was immensely helpful. Thanks a lot!
thank you for sharing this lecture. Amazing content for TH-cam! I learned so much even though I thought I knew a bunch : )
For once the YT algorithm recommended something interesting. Fascinating lecture. I wonder if Yiorgis is familiar with the work of sound recordist Chris Watson, they tread similar paths.
The topic at the end about the frequencies in the natural world blew my mind. That alone was worth the watch for me. I don’t work with soundscapes, but I want to expand my skills, so this was great that I ran into this video.
I would love of yorgis decides to make a TH-cam channel!
Just a clarification. Hearing damage is due to sound pressure, that is, volume. It doesn't matter the design, whether it's iems or ear muffs...
Such a great lecture. I learned a lot and really enjoyed it! Thank you
Thank you for sharing this! I can feel the love and enthusiasm Yiorgis holds for this amazing art.
yes it is palpable! scholastic yet humble delivery. brilliant
Great lecture I am finishing a sound engineering degree and if I may say this is one of the most interesting lectures I have watched until now. Many thanks :)
Nice Workshop... Thank you.
Greetings from Nepal... i'm a field recordist/boom operator / studio recordist for bands. I would love to see more of your workshops.
That was truly wonderful, thank you!

Very fascinating, poly kala, thank you, subscribed
Brilliant lecture ,
really enjoyed this, thsnk you
Να σε καλά δάσκαλε :). Έψαχνα ενα τέτοιο βίντεο σαν νέος στο χώρο του sound field recording. Ωραία ροή και τα θέματα, ιστορικά και τεχνικά.
Καλή συνέχεια
Amazing lecture
Very good video. Thanks.
AWESOME.
REALLY VALUABLE KNOWLEDGE HERE.😀
thankyou somuch
nice work.
Nice presentation. But one could argue the sound is totally tangible, that's energy travelling as waves in the air.
.. and nice you even mentioned Carl Jung ;)
Application for this video wish there were more in depth, tips, tricks and see a a full creation from collection of sounds to experimentation and creation.
Recording rain: I hold a kitchen sponge above the microphone (softer side up).
very nice, what version of machine are you using
Zaar is a ghost summoning ritual by the way 🙂
🥰🥰🥰🥰
thank for this. I enjoyed this very much. Could you please tell me the name of the small clip on omni-directional mics please. Thank you.
I'd also be interesed in the mics. did you already find out @edgardo moreno?
what is that in the top left corner at 29:01?
What mini XLR omnidirectional condenser microphone are you using? Google couldn't help here
The key words for your search are: Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone.
like Sanken COS-11D, Sony ECM-44B, Sony ECM-77B, Sennheiser MKE 2 Gold Series, Shure SM11-CN, Audio-Technica AT803B, AKG C417, DPA Microphones 4060 CORE
Those are the best brands, not cheap but worth the money in terms of quality . Do not bother with the super cheap from amazon.
As an experiment, I made a recording inside a Neolithic quartz stone circle lasting 10mins. I would like to report the results were not any different to recordings outside of the circle. But the fact remains a10min recording was made inside a structure thousands of years old. Crazy? No. Just experimental. I may try the same in a burial chamber sometime.
what is the name of the little recorder (the one with a tripod and a furry windscreen)?
Zoom H1n
search the whole internet for audio recorder gear burn in into camera method to capture real sound of bird song in rainforest for more than a year, until this lecture teachs all @@ thank you
