A natural photographer is the best one and he was lucky to be a part of the scene that was Laurel Canyon. It was the 1960s at its best.

Oh man! I ran into Henry Diltz up in San Francisco several years ago. He was doing street shots and I recognized him but forgot his name! Lol, so I said,
"Hey! Aren't you that famous rock photographer?" He looked startled at having been recognized as someone famous. I didn't get a chance to tell him how much I liked his work, cuz he looked at me, shook his head in denial and then just walked away into the coming night. I was left standing on the sidewalk, kind of bemused by the whole deal! I never expected to ever meet him to be honest, so that whole encounter was just crazee wild luck! ✌☮💯

He took incredible photos of David Cassidy. Easy job.... David was the most beautiful man in the world. The camera loved him.... and so did the women! 😍

Henry Diltz is one of my favorite photographers of all time and all his photos were what I grew up with in albums of bands that I loved and songs I'd sing to,👍👌✌️😘

I am so thankful that I saw CBS Sunday Morning..I am one who treasures her album covers almost as much as the sweet music inside...I have big respect for a man who has passion for capturing the moments through his lens...and, Henry Diltz you do it well...What sweet sweet memories...thank you to all who were involved in bringing my album covers to life..what a sweet trip it has been and continues to be..Peace.

If you have not seen the DVD of Henry Diltz and Gary Burden called Under the Covers, you should check it out. It is them talking about the shooting of all those album covers we love. Lots of video and pictures from all the shoots. Eagles, CSN, the Doors and more. Got mine on Amazon and love it!!!

I had seen a story about how the Morrison Hotel cover came about many years ago, but never knew about the photographer or his name. I remember that James Taylor cover, too.

Kent Beery That would be amazing. I'd also like to bring my late husband's hand held slide viewer to go through that spectacular slide collection in his house.

Joni Mitchell was not Crosby’s protege. Crosby glommed onto her enormous talent.

I never understood why the CSN photo negative (on the couch) was not just reversed so the names would be in the right order. INSTEAD of going back and trying to re-shoot. Common sense.

    • @popvinnik

Firstly, common sense and artistic expression have absolutely nothing to do with each other. And secondly, I guess it didn't occur to you that if you flop the photo as you suggest, then Stephen Stills would appear to be playing a left handed guitar. It's laughable that you would assume Mason could miss such an easy fix if it were even remotely an option.

Yet, ya'll don't listen to the fans\ us kids from the 60's and 70's we fans of Laurel Canyon productions. Us kids who walk from street to street and block to block on halloween nights. Some of our parents in Viet Nam, always the mystery of return. Laurel Canyon, the Byrds and the heart and soul to "Lead out"..... a kid hearing Carol King, John and the fantastic and always wondrous guitar from George, and then to hear Chicago Transit and then Chicago! The years were an explosion, then. sprry, they imploded with disco. Flat and stale and tinny accompaniments with a dash of symbols and some electronic BS. Once the disco era hit, we lost the hear and soul of rock and roll.

I hope he plans to put his slides into a fireproof storage or archive. Gene Kelly's house burned to the ground, destroying decades-old notes from his rehearsals for his movies.
