    ********************
    Today's episode is about piezoelectric sensor-based power generation. In this episode you will learn how to do pcb drilling, Soldering, how to use a piezoelectric sensor , how to get rid of the negative voltages, how to connect multiple piezoelectric sensors in parallel. Let's get started!!!!
    In Part1 we covered the PCB design settings for printing, transferring the design onto the copper plate, preparing the Ferric chloride Acid solution, and etching. So I recommend first you watch that tutorial and then resume from here, Link given in the description. So these are the PCBs after the etching process, as you can see there are black marker lines and paper so first of all let's clean these PCB's.... So now as you can see the PCBs are cleaned, and now ready for the drilling.....
    • PiezoElectric sensor
    A piezoelectric sensor is a device that uses the piezoelectric effect, to measure changes in pressure, acceleration, temperature, strain, or force by converting them to an electrical charge. The prefix piezo- is Greek for 'press' or 'squeeze'. As you can see by pressing the piezoelectric sensor we can generate voltage, sometimes even more than 20volts.

    And is it necessary to fix One rectifier with one piezo chip .
    Can we do some change if we connect 15 pizeo chip connect paraller and than we connect 1 rectifier &1 adopter so that be cost effective .. is it done ......

    By bridging at the rectifier one pole of an AC-source and one of the DC voltages with a capacitor, the DC output voltage will double. Depending on the value, it needs little time, till the capacitor is charged and the circuit produces output. Also the cap should not leak. The voltage doubles, the current is half. Efficiency is in theory higher, because one diode drop is virtually eliminated. With a stepper, given a fixed rotation speed, it is also possible to chose a cap for maximum power point, if the output voltage is below the voltage of maybe the battery without that cap.

    What is the purpose of the diodes? Don't the rectifiers already convert the piezo AC into DC?

      I think that is to prevent loss of energy due to feedback from the rest of the circuit. The bridge rectifier would become a load for the capacitor without the diode.

      while using a free version, you can't do automatic routing for larger boards. you can do the manual wiring. you can use eagle 6.5 version, its crack is available. you can search on google.

      don't use components from the library, then you can make larger boards. Let's say you want to use a relay, simply measure the distance between the relay legs, and make place via's accordingly and that's it. i do the same exact thing while making larger boards.

    Hi, sir. Could u guide me in this project? I'm working on harvesting vertical downward force from vehicle to generate electricity using piezoelectric transducers. The energy generated is required to charge the battery n power up light at night with the pir motion sensor or LDR. But Im having problem on charging the rechargeable battery as the current generated is too low. Could u give me some idea on how to store the piezoelectric into the battery? Currently I'm using bridge rectifier as energy conversion unit only. The connection is: piezo >bridge rectifier> battery. Should I put a capacitor before the battery to absorb the spike /peak voltage to protect the battery from high peak voltage? N does sir has any method to evaluate the performance of piezoelectric energy harvester? For example, if I use different configuration of PZTs(series, parallel, both) with same number of PZTs, how should I evaluate their performance (voltage, current, energy) without using oscilloscope because I just have a multimeter😅 Thanks in advance

    How will you increase the voltage if the connections are all parallel? Isn't that just equal?

      If you want to increase voltage, connect them in series. You can also make parallel and series connections together.

      To increase the voltage connect the sensor in series and to increase the current connect them in parallel. So better to have both of the combinations ex: connect 5 peizo in series so called as 1 array . You have create a multiple arrays. Finally connect all the arrays in parallel

    Why did you use one rectifier per piezoelectric transducer? Wouldn't it have been better to connect them in series - parallel combination?

      You would think that would make sense - unless there's some actual physics reason why it can't be done (but I don't see one)

    Do you absolutely have to have a bridge rectifier and a diode for EVERY piezo? What if you used 1 bridge rectifier and 1 diode for entire circuit? Would it work?

      of you watch the entire video, you will see, when i press a piezo it generates positive and negative voltages. to get rid of the negative voltages we have to use a bridge rectifier

      you know the output of each piezo sensor is in micro amps so i don't think so you gonna be able to charge a battery, you will need to increase the number of sheets.

      you can charge some capacitors and then light up some led's to explain your idea. for real implementation, you will need some good high quality piezo sensors and you will need to increase the number.

    if you use the capacitor, it uses it very quick, but if you vibrated it for 1 hour, would the led last longer? i thought capacitors release the energy all at once? why not charge battery instead? would you need resistor or something for 1 way charging like you use on solar panels?

      for one way charging, we use a diode. Actually, it's just a research kind of project. I have used more than 78 Piezos and still, I wasn't able to charge even the cell phone battery. Even a capacitor takes time to charge. not practical for battery charging. But if you can arrange some high-quality piezo sensors then you can.

      No , you can't use a single rectifier, imagine when u prress multiple piezos at the same time what can happen?? Study this.
      These piezos are connected in parallel
      And the current you can find using a multimeter

      Ya i knew this concept.i want to say that from small DC voltages we control higher AC voltages like arduino Relay circuits .Both the Voltages operates in a one PCB board.Does the high voltage AC affects the DC Voltages.if it affects then what is the solution.hope u will get me.

      Then u step down the ac voltages using transformers, and you can also use voltage dividers. Watch my tutorials on voltage dividers and voltage sensor

      the bridge rectifier is used to get rid of the negative voltages. and the diodes make sure that the current flow only in one direction.

      you can generate even higher voltages. but the main problem is the current. for a 12v motor, you will need to use some large value capacitor. charge the capacitors and then you can run a small dc motor for a second or two.

    That's a whole lot of effort, for extremely little reward.
    listen... get two thin A4 sized plastic sheets (pvdf or whatever). paint (or spin coat) one with graphene oxide. slap them together, and slap a current collector (like aluminum) on both sides of that. connect your wires to (what you may think is a fancy capacitor) it, then wriggle your A4 thingy while it's connected to your multi-meter.
    Your welcome. Go make a flag.
