I love Toyotas. You could make a small fortune once you rebuild it to sell it here in California. All original. Except for the carburetor. Plus you’re documenting your rebuild. You could even deliver it, sell it, then have enough to vacation and fly back with cash left. So cool to watch.

I would have chased the threads on the motor desk and ran the head bolts thru a die. Great project love this type of challenge.

Some of your videos are too short. 😁 l have learned alot with the vehicle rebuilds and have learned how to look outside the box watching your videos. Make more of them!🤣 If l remember you said you are in IOWA, which part. Im at the other end of Missouri.

My 71 had a rochester 2 jet as well when i got it. I gave up on finding the kit- you are correct that the numbers don’t match anything on line!

Hello will be interesting to se if it runs. I allways chase out the holes in the block before put head bolts in. Have a great day.

Now that you are a full-blown YT influencer I am waiting on your merch. You should have some, "It will be fine." shirts. ;-) Some notes knowing that you are already buttoning things up. I am a big fan of using copper cote on head gaskets. All of my years racing 4 cylinder sports cars and never had an issue. Not familiar with that block. Are those head bolts going into a coolant jacket? I wonder if that was the thought with the previous owner using the sealant? Might make sense to use a proper thread sealant if it they do. I like them but not a FJ40 guy. I am curious how this thing will run for you when you get things back together.

You should install new valve seals probably cracked

    • @HumbleAcres

You are correct. I’m not going to right now just because I don’t have the tool to compress the valve springs.

You can buy an Aisan clone (CCP made) carburetor (like the OEM) off ebay and Amazon for a $100 rather than using that junk Rochester. Nice build. Good luck!

I would rather pay for an oem one instead of wasting money on a junk china one, but for now I will rebuild what I have.

@@HumbleAcres back in the mid ‘70’s, I had a man-a-fre Rochester and a Downey Holley …never really had any trouble with either

Don't know if you know it or not but don't use the last ten per-cent of your lower end on your torque wrench common knowledge
