The song was written by guitarist Brain May at the same time that Freddie wrote We ae the Champions, both intended as songs that would invite crowd participation and both ended up becoming 2 of the most recognizable rock anthems of all time. The 3 verses in the song are intended to reflect the story of a man while young, in his peak, and then as an older man. The video was shot in the drummer's (Roger Taylor’s) backyard

Yes that’s exactly what I was saying and it’s very hard to find the two songs blended together online. And the newer generation doesn’t understand that combination since they’ve never heard them connected.

That is a funny reaction since the Guitar player actually wrote the song and most likely wrote the instrumental portions of it on his guitar. He started the song with the Clap, Clap, Stomp in trying to figure out what fans could do to participate while standing or sitting at a concert. I like the guitar solo but I think that I like it better in some of the live versions I have heard. Also, this song fades into We Are The Champions when they do it live so at that point the solo is a good segue from one song to the other. Both songs were written at the same time as Freddie and Brian decided they wanted to write some audience participation songs.

In some versions they would take the guitar solo and they would bleed it directly into the “We are the champion” song. That’s what I’m used to hearing both songs blended together back to back. It’s hard to find online but that’s how it always played on my record album when it was playing.
You can find them blended together in "Live Aid" "We Will Rock You/We are the Champions ❤️

I didn’t realize a lot of the songs I heard growing up were real songs because I’d hear them in commercials or whatnot and this is one of them and crazy little thing called love too
There is a fast version of this aswell, check out Queen We Will Rock You Fast Version live at Montreal. In MY Opinion I prefer the fast version musically and everything. But still the original version is so Iconic that it makes it legendary.

Dr Brian May wrote the song and it's recorded in Roger Taylor back garden, also Brian wrote it so the fans could join in with something in the crammed places they'd play, and it was Freddie who Wrote We Are The Champions which goes along with this song, they'd normally do Rock followed by Champions at the concerts

Brian May, the guitarist, is one of the top guitarist in music history. He is also pretty smart. He got his college degree in ASTROPHYSICS, just in case the "music thing", did not work out. LOL

The story goes that it was extremely cold in Roger’s (Drummer) backyard of the first thing he purchased with his success money, a house, and it surprised the other band members (LOL!) He had not moved in even and yet they shot this iconic video to this absolutely infamous song there. Freddie had a few drinks (best shown in another video) didn’t have gloves and is wearing his main dude roadie’s (one that hands him the microphone when in concert) gloves, which is why they look really rough. Love your reaction videos! Please, please follow this with both We are the Champions AND One Vision Live (it is about MLK and since you know that going in it helps understand the lyrics, they are so great!) There is also a documentary available on YT about the making of One Vision where they are in the studio actually coming up with the song. It is so fascinating seeing the process back then. 💗

This was in Roger’s backyard, its was cold. So Freddie drank a lots og Bourbon….the director said to the outher boys they should see after Freddie, so he not drunk to much, he already had. When the sang was did, he thrown up behinde a tree. It is a video on YT, you can hear the director said that. Roger is the drummer. So they was at his place, they had to start over and over again, it was ofcourse back-play. Freddie was so drunk, he couldent start singing or miming at the rigth place, they altso playd Your my best friend at the same time and place. I think its a little funny story 🍻😂😂
It was “Spread Your Wings” filmed on the same day, which (like “Your My Best Friend”) was written by bassist John Deacon.
I think Live Aid 👑 would be awesome to look at. Just as amazing as the videos if not even more.

I disagree about the guitar solo. I grew up hearing the entire song and so the guitar part was simply just a normal part of the song, and it's very memorable and unique in my opinion. I could hear just that part and still know which song it is.
