bought the R3 (2020) as my first bike, and I don't regret it one bit. I feel like it was the perfect starter bike for learning. It looks like a bigger bike, perfect for city riding, has just enough "oomph" to be safe at highway speeds. Would recommend 100%. Currently looking to upgrade, but will be keeping the R3 for sure.

If you ride motocross then switching from that to the world of street legal motorcycle riding is going to be so boring for you. I raced motocross for years up into my late 20’s and the only way I could make riding my 750R fun on the highway was by doing high speed wheelies and other dumb stuff that will get you killed or kill your bank account with court costs and tickets. I finally built a 600R specifically for track time at a track outside Columbus Ohio. I found that to be the only thing that gave me the same cost : thrill ratio that could compare to the level of riding I was doing in the dirt.

Hey Texas brother, I think I'm getting the R3 for everyday commuting. I've been riding my XR150L to work and back and have 13 years under my belt. I've been considering the CBR250R and came across this bike. Rats, this bike is so good I overlooked it. I even rode one several years back. I may have to go for this as I'm going for a small displacement sport bike.
Loved the review...very well done....Im on the fence for wither honda or Yamaha...leaning towards Yamaha....My dealer has neither so i will have to wait and wait
Two-up? Dang, my old 500cc Ninja had enough trouble getting up a hill with a 5'11 Amazon chick on back. I can't imagine how an R3 would do. But boy does that thing look sexy. I'm old enough to remember when there was some law that entry-level sportbikes had to be criminally ugly.

The r3 was the first motorcycle I have purchased, and learned how to ride on. I agree with Simon, this motorcycle has been enough for me. Daily commute to work and back. I will consider upgrading in the next couple of years, but this is a well built, fuel efficient, quick bike. If I could do it all over again, I would buy an r3 to begin on. Best of luck, and stay safe!
Just bought a 2022 R3. You state in the video at times a loose, squirmy feeling. I definitely noticed this driving home from the dealership. You don't seem all that concerned in the video.. should I be as a new rider? Thanks for your feedback.
It never felt out of control, just less planted than heavier bikes. My advice is to always make sure tire pressures are spot on cause that will contribute to the issue. Don't be concerned of it, just hone your skills.
2 years ago I also bought a brand new R3 as my first bike. 2 years and 10k km later I would easily recommend this bike as a starter bike. It’s easy and light to control and after 2 years it still gives me enough power to feel like I’m on a 600 cc bike
Biiig queestioon! I have a r3 too, but i can't find a phoneholder that fits. Because there's no place do fix it... Where got you your's? And how you fix it? You would help me a loot if you answer. Thank youu :)
If you are a smaller rider (height and weight) R3 would probably be better for you. If you are bigger, CBR500 would probably be best bet. But price difference is a huge factor also.. CBR is way more money for not much more power.
R3 may be torquier down low, but ninja 400 gets better fuel economy even though it's a bigger engine that makes more power because cruising RPM will always be lower for any given speed Also, with a slip on and a tune the ninja 400 picks up quite a bit of power
I rode an 09 ninja 250 for about 7-800 miles, maybe 1k and it was a good bike BUT I always felt a little frustrated saying “I wish the cockpit was just a little bigger and I could get a little more power through the gears”… I didn’t mean a 600.. This is probably it. That or a ninja 400 or an older 500 😆
The ninjas are notorious for feeling moped-ish. Unless that's what you're looking for. A city commuter that's easy on gas and can slip through traffic. And for that they sacrifice highway power and ability in the curves without some modding. With that being said they can still be fast bikes. We've all seen 250s smoke bigger bikes through curves on the track. But the 300s of today feel so much nicer.
