ABS is not needed unless your judgement is poor. As with many things, a little skill and a lot of judgement are the keys to success.

You mentioned that you shouldn’t take the XT on your local trials loop. Hard disagree, the XT is a far better trials bike than the WR could ever be. It was literally designed with low speed, technical riding in mind. You probably need to upgrade the suspension if you’re a typical American male, but that’s not the bike’s fault.

I started out on a gen1 sv650 enjoyed it sold it purchased 3 Kawasaki zx636 over the years difrent generations the looked fast just sitting there but the truth is they had no soul I missed the sv it had something in fact it was more off a riders bike I now have a first gen dl650 with under 4000miles on it and intend to run it for the rest off my days

Nice build dude, I'm planning to do this on my 4wd 07 colorado. My question is, did you reflashed the stock ECU and BCM to keep everything working? Like ABS, airbags, cruise control?

I got a free 4-stroke petrol generator and had fixed the pull string and cleaned the carb to make it run again, but it leaked fuel when I forgot to close the fuel valve (thankfully discovered that soon after and didn't have too big a mess to clean). Initially I had tried raising the float plate to raise the needle higher which didn't help so after watching this video I got a cotton bud, sprayed some carb cleaner on it and stuck it in the float needle seat and spun it around for a minute. When testing the seal again before reinstalling the float cup it didn't dribble when the float was level and after reassembly it didn't leak either! Victory! All I have left to do now is to check/change the oil and to tune the carb with the right air/fuel mix - This generator project has taught me about carbs quite well :D

Change stock sprockets that are 15/40 to a new set that are 14/42....quicker and easier on motor to hit 60mph.

Check out, 'Riding with Tom' on you tube, his channel has a heap of great motorcycle adventures that travel across Australia using his trusty wr250r with a few mods. I think it's just passed 60000k now with the only issue being a cracked rear subframe. Definitely a very capable and reliable bike even when fully loaded.

1:18 You said nearly stock ratio which is 13T/43T... what ratio are you running? I ran 13/43 for little while until I started doing a lot of tech stuff with 13/48. Now I want to put this bike back on the road mostly, but felt the 13/43 was still too stiff. I won't do too much highway stuff.

that seat has a ton of padding comapred to an R1 with basically nothing lol, yeah not a fun ride as a passenger especially with stop and go

If the person recording is seeing that someone its already helping the one who fell first, wouldn't it be smarter to go to a more visible place where the other bikers could see you and not stay to do anything?

I own one now since 2007 and if you don’t mind spending a little more money, you could get yourself some progressive front suspension springs from Oelins and be fine. Save travels

Question.. so were you able to use the ecm of the L5 and change to v8??

Hi I want to change my motorcycle. I have been driving a Honda CB 1000r for 5 years after ECU modifications. there is plenty of power, the torque is over 100nm. I really like the 675r, what do you think about this change? Will I be disappointed with a smaller capacity engine?

Does the WR have higher compression ratio?

I don't know if it matters for functionality, but you have clutch plate B and C reversed, as does the restoration blog you reference. Refer to the honda diagram but the open plate that makes no spring contact, known as clutch plate C is the third from the bottom or second from the snap ring.

Two fingers on the brake, not the clutch! Why would you do that? You should grab the clutch only when you are changing gears.
