Hippos are one of Africa's largest animals, and they aren't known for being cheerful, and they kill more people each year than lions, leopards, crocodiles, or any other significant predator. Hippo Vs Lion
In this marvelous clip by “latest sightings” three lions find out what happens when they intrude into hippo territory. A huge hippo speeds towards them and chases them out of the waterhole. The lions don’t insist and scram out of there with blinding speed. A large lion pride attacks a lone hippo in the middle of the night. The pride is made up of many females and sub-adults attacking from all sides, but the hippo is tough. He manages to run off with the felines in pursuit. The younger cats are listless and uncoordinated, unsure of what to do next.
The hippo kills one of the felines and manages to save his own life. During a drought, the scarcity of drinking water isn't the only issue. Another issue is a shortage of rain and water, which makes it difficult for food to be rich in nutrients. As a result, hippos become quite territorial, challenging animals they would ordinarily avoid, such as the lion in this video. This lion is not really looking for trouble, but the hippo wants the lion out of his territory. The waterline marks the boundary, and to cross it, he better be primed for battle.
Hippo Vs Rhino
An enraged hippo attempts to bite this rhino's horn, but the rhino's horn is lodged in the hippo's mouth, making it difficult for the hippo to close its mouth on the rhino. Nevertheless, the hippo charges and plows the rhino into the ground. This hippo reminds me of Pavarotti, singing the classic "Nessun Dormi" to this rhino who’s not that impressed. The presence of this rhino at their waterhole irritates these two hippos, who challenge him to a shouting contest, but the rhino remains calm and simply stands there listening to the hippo's high-pitched voice. Oh, wait, the rhino is finally struck by the hippo, which bites it and turns it on its side.
This rhino doesn't appear to be much of a threat to the hippos. Rhinos and hippos are not afraid of many creatures and will go up against any of the large cats. They are occasionally slain by a pride of lions, but this is rare because they are difficult to bring down and carry weapons of their own that can cause significant damage. But what happens when a rhino and hippo cross paths? It goes something like in this video. The hippo yells and the rhino just stand there, and usually, that’s the end of that. But something, they push and shove each other to try and intimidate their opponent.

Hippos seem to be bullies rather than territorial. And the fact that one bull mercilessly killed a calf just to get it on with a cow. That's disturbing. Imagine a human giving birth, then a man doing that to a newborn just to....

Such a fascinating animal. For some reason I always thought of hippos like sloths, just passive, lazy, blubber that just sits in the swamp. Then I was reading this book about the nile and ancient egyptian hippo hunts and these things have been a monstrous opponent of humans for thousands of years

In 1983 I was attack by a hippo on the Donga River in Nigeria. I nearly lost my life that day. I was so scared and shook up that all I could do was laugh. That was the only emotion that came forward. I laughed so hard I almost threw up.
