    THIS IS A RE-UPLOAD! Since You Tubes new changes some of my videos were deemed not suitable for all advertisers and were either limited with monetization or simply demonetized. After requesting manual reviews and talking with creator support nobody could tell me why they were limited or totally demonetized and there's nothing in these videos that violates TH-cam community guidelines that I could see. So I'm doing a little trial and error to see if I change the title, descriptions and tags if it will solve the problem?

      one big mistake. you have to boil the cashew for at least 5 minutes to soften them up. otherwise as you chew your food the dry nuts will "suck" up moisture in your mouth making it a "dry chew"

    I grewnup eating this. My dad's side of the family lived like 10min from Springfield and this is what my grandma made, my dad loved and had my mom make we even got my mom's side of the family loving it they were from california and were used to the first kind you showed. Some places in Missouri don't even make spring field style which is a shame since its been registered as a state food.where I live now is 2 hours from Springfield and no Chinese place here makes it and alot of locals don't even know whatnot talking about. This was something that would bring my family together on weekends. My grandma would say I'm making cashew chicken and aunts uncles cousins all show up to eat on grandma's dime. Only family that ever helped pay was mine and my aunt. She would buy stuff to make the stir fry rice and pork eggroles. She was good atbthat. My mom and dad used to bring chicken and desserts and drinks. Big family big appetites with a touch of greediness. They never played always just ate, grabbed big to go plates said by granny or mom and left. Ungrateful buggers.I once caught a cousin trying to take half of the deserts on thanksgiving and sneaking out the back door in the kitchen. Had backed his van up him his wife were trying to take half the damn thanksgiving meal. I was like what are you doing. Ooh just making to go plates. I raised my voice and said your taking everything wth. My grandma got up made them put everything back and made them normal plates. Come to find out they tried that at 3 family dinners that day. Only got away with it at one. They hated me after that and people watched them like hawks after lol.

    Being from Missouri, I'm very familiar with Springfield Cashew Chicken.. From what I've read, David created the dish as a sort of fusion of chinese food and the midwestern favorite, Fried Chicken and gravy... which makes sense to me.. Personally, I love this style of cashew chicken far more than the other type.

    Reality warp -- growing up in Springfield myself I never knew that there was a 'normal' cashew chicken until I was a pre-teen. $4 for a big plate at the local Chinese joint was very affordable on a high schooler's budget. A lot of good memories made with friends having dinner and planning our next scheme.
    Been out of SGF for 2 years now, and I miss the hell out of it. When I visit twice a year I land at the airport and then get a Lyft to Pacific Kitchen, a place on the commercial side of the city.

    Roasting the cashews for 5-10 minutes in the oven at 350 degrees really makes a difference in Chinese dishes..Most you buy at the store are not roasted enough. In real Chinese food they deep fry the Cashews to make them really brown.

    Just a variation on fried chicken, and you can't go wrong with fried chicken, cos fried chicken is just great, and saying fried chicken enough times will probably make people reading this want fried chicken, heck, even the last line of Queen's "One Vision" is fried chicken... :D

    There is a documentary about General Tso's Chicken on Netflix that explains how this cashew chicken came to be. A Chinese worker was offered his own restaurant in Missouri if he would come to the state and cook. He knew that country people would want some comfort food and he thought of fried chicken. He combined Chinese ingredients and fried chicken and came up with this dish. There is a cheap Chinese buffet in Joplin Missouri that serves this and it is really good. I hope you can watch the documentary.

    Original Spfd CC used the entire chicken, both white and dark meat. Even today you have to order “all white meat” to get the breast and it will cost more. The chicken is dredged in beaten eggs and then a flour and corn starch mixture 3/1 (sometimes potato starch). The meat is fried until the interior is done and removed. It is fried a second time to golden up and warm before serving. The sauce looks good but should contain a bit of sugar and white pepper. The cashews are also usually toasted before adding. This makes me miss home.

    Milk doesn't exist in Chinese recipes for various reasons, but mainly because Cows are NOT native to China. Also, most Asians (not limited to just Chinese) are lactose intolerant. Again, likely due to many generations lack of exposure to cow milk and based products.

  • @theartofman7734
    @theartofman7734 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The reason for the milk and floor is because it's based on fried chicken that was a staple of the area at the time. Fried chicken was what finally got all the white people to eat at his restaurant. So if you notice it looks like fried chicken and gravy.

For instance, I believe "sickle cell anemia" is a disease only blacks contract. Do you seriously think it's RACIST to point that out? And, another example: Women have very different symptoms than men when they're having a heart attack. Is it SEXIST to recognize that? Like I said, I think you mean well, but you're very confused.
