    What a trooper that thing is I’m still using my Grandpop’s older booster jump box it’s a literal booster pac brand I use it so much for all my tractors and mowers I’m hoping it never dies I love that thing so much

    I can't remember what brand jump pack I have, but used it the first time to start a car without a battery and drive it around from out back into my driveway so the buyer could load it on a dolly...worked as a battery I guess, it allowed me to drive the car around enough to get it within easy reach of the buyer's tow vehicle/dolly...I've sense used it several times to jump other vehicles and it works great, guess I do need to charge it once in a while though, I've had the thing for 3 years, used it maybe 5-6 times, and have yet to recharge it LOL. Used it a couple days ago to jump my Bronco 2 so I could go replace its 5 month old Interstate (garbage brand apparently now) battery. I've had 2 interstate batteries the past couple years that have died in less than 6 months of use....far from impressed with Interstate, they used to be good, but I guess like Optima, they're using low quality pieces and parts too.

    Hi, thank you for the video ! i have one for 2 years (GT3000) now. I bought it new. I used it only 3 or 4 times maximum but now it is dead ( i can't start it but 100% is displayed only when it is in charge) and the warranty is passed of course ! I'm really dissapointed of this product because it is not reliable at all. But it is a powerful system when it works of course.

    Neat to see you doing the battery packs again. Kind of off topic... though electronics related... crazy like for example the diodes (1N5821) how cheap they are for a cost effective repair compared to bought, even if using a few in parallel for higher current ratings.... though the even higher rated like to convert a AC welder to DC when paralleled, full bridge rectifiers I'm guessing are still more cost effective if you have the time for shipping. One thing I've found when doing the circuits soldering... Kester 186 Flux in a needle dispenser little squeeze bottle. I use, though I've read the No-Clean like 951 or 959 is the stuff to use. Keeps the perimeter cool, makes a cleaner solder joint and helps with melting the solder. There is also for the high temp stuff, low temp solder that helps lower the temp of the higher like silver solder so to easier remove. Awesome!

      @redneckcomputergeek  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because the solding iron in this video is a 80w and silver and High temp should be done with 120w. Yes I do the low temp solder trick to get it started at times.

      Hi, I have the gooloo 4000 and it is really good, however to recharge takes forever on a standard plug in charger, can I charge this battery from my model aircraft(electric models) charger which is capable of a lot more output(mains source), could I use the outlet for the jump cables to charge, how many cells are there in this lithium pack and capacity, my model battery charger can handle up to six cells at 5 amp input?

    Thank you for the video.
    I got mine (GTX280) used but in a really good condition. I fully charged it and everything was fine until I realized that the relay is constantly clicking and forcing the booster to turn ON and OFF for no reason (screen says 100% READY)
    Dose that mean the relay is fried and needs to be replaced?

  • @nickabel8279
    @nickabel8279 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    if u wanted safety couldn't u replace the relay with another 70 or even 80 just as easily? thinking you could also make your own jump wires with whatever size relay you want that plug into the unit as well..

    Same as yesper armor. It failed on me the 2nd day I used it. It's the relay as you mentioned in the video. Gotta try Noco brand as they are more durable

    My Gooloo GT4000 started my duel battery duramax easily. But now it just flashes ALL of the led lights when I try to power it on. I wonder if it could be the relay, and if so, where can I get a replacement relay?

  • @azahelresendiz
    @azahelresendiz 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    On mine I just open the relay and Clean terminals with sand paper and it work like new again, problem it’s that when overheats the internal terminals get carbon build up and at that point losses the contact but a good clean should do it

    Did you check the batteries? Wondering what kind of batteries inside. 18650?

    • @ericklein5097
      @ericklein5097 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      High discharge Lipos. No 18650 or any small cylindrical cell can output that kind of current. There's a reason why the RC community has an entire niche market of "Fireproof" Lipo Charging Bags though. Its the most unstable lithium chemistry by far.

    I assume the Multi-meter is accurate if you are recommending it? I have 3 Multi-meters, 2 from Radio Shack and 1 I got at Walmart and I assume they are probably not very accurate for Precision voltage measuring.

      You cut up the old Relay with a Dremel then desolder each pin out of the board and replace the relay with one like the upgraded version I posted in the description.

    With jump starters is it the bigger the better? I know its overkill to use this on v6, with the safety, would it fry 4 and 6 cylinder engine starters?

    • @TqSNv9R0iG5Ckxew
      @TqSNv9R0iG5Ckxew ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You're 100% safe to use a larger battery than necessary. I have used the same jumper pack featured in this video to start a 220cc ATV and a diesel backhoe with a 100% dead battery.

    So for people who are not mad geniuses like you. I am guessing this jump starter would be over kill for a 4 cylinder engine? Your the first reviewer to mention this fact about this being able to kill a starter. Any recommendation for a good starter for 4 cylinder SUV? Thanks.

      2000a rated is what most need anything over that you are paying just to say you have it. My 2500a cranks over my 5.4l v8 every time I need to move my rig around the yard.

      Agreed I was thinking something like that. Its just a very different format then what I am used to. Its so easy to spend hundreds on camera mounts to find out the one that works best you could have made or bought for 10$. I kid you not I have 5 different tripods ranging from $20 to $85 and my go to one is the 6th one I bought for $5 at a thrift shop.
