    If it helps, ostacruiser started out with a Polaris 500 sportsman's and he's the one who started running skeg before anyone else and picked up and camera and tape it..., he's a pioneer when it comes to this sport but he switched to can-am and never looked back.Sometimes change is good, but only if it suits you.

      @@ADVENTURESThisWay in all honesty, when I had my Polaris XP it was a good day of riding if it drove on the trailer by itself at the end of the day. Which was not very often. Blew the tranny 3 times in one summer. All 3 were different breaks too. In my opinion the polaris just isn't made to be rode like it was a can-am. Lol. The power of the can-am Rotax is hands down insane. And at least in my luck so far in 4 years of brutal abuse I've broke 1 axle and had a starter solenoid fail. That's it. Knock on wood. Long story short I'd personally never go back. Can-am for life now

    I got one word for you... Can Am. I have been riding in terrible locations since before the days of three wheelers and I have NEVER found a polaris that held up. Very comfortable machines, tons of power, very customizable, but just not tough enough. Not saying a Can Am is THAT much better, but it's a completely different design on the frame, steering, and suspension that IS that much better. Engines, transmissions about the same quality. Belt box and air box designs are LIGHTYEARS ahead of polaris. The biggest problem I've had with can am's over the years is the COST of stuff. Man, you can dump a TON of bread into these machines.
    I've had the best luck over the years with Honda machines. They are light, tough, durable, customizable, and VERY underpowered. Underpowered is NOT a bad thing in my opinion. I've been EVERYWHERE on my trusty old Honda Rancher 350... You might have to pass up a mud hole or two, tho...
    I'm actually moving into the "adventure" side of atving here since my brother (and riding partner) passed away. I'm riding solo or with inexperienced riders more and more and have to change from the more "extreme" side of stuff. (well my wife would like me to, anyways...) Just yesterday, I ordered a brand new 2021 non-trail adventure machine custom built to my specs... Should arrive sometime in late June. Had to sell off a few of my favorite things to do this, as well. Hmmm... What could it be?

      @ADVENTURESThisWay  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you so much for sharing. I respect where you are coming from. I was able to ride with TJ from HONDUDE this summer and witness the value of a Honda, definitely less $$ to invest over time. BTW he had a Renegade a few years back.
      BRP (Can-am) continues to refine and improve their products far more than anyone else. Lots to decide...
      I will wait intently to see what your new Adventure Machine is...and sometimes its not a bad thing to at least appear listen to what the misses has to say...Happy Ride Day!!

    The sportsman xp1000s or the scrambler 1000s are both good options, yes you have to put snorkels and rad relocate on them right away, but I've found with my sportsman that with the factory 14" ground clearance with 27" tires, you only get more from there. I'm running the same cryptids that you had, and I can fit a 5gal pail under my machine. Our friend from north country boys has the scrambler, and he loves it too 👌🏻

      Oh Dude you are preaching to the choir! I have been working through all the scenarios! The front clearance is great, my issue is the wheel base-nearly as long as the Can Am 1000 XMR-too long for majority of terrain in my area

    I hope it's a high lifter or an xp1000. I watch this channel for the polaris content. I think most of us do. Can Am channel's are everywhere. The new 2021 polaris xp 1000 comes with arched a arms stock and has a beautiful aggressive styling. The high lifter look is dated now and has less power over all (85 vs 90). My personal preference is a 2021 Polaris Sportsman 1000xp with the trail package. 3500lb winch front and rear bumper and custom springs. It will be cheaper than the high lifter.

    • @ADVENTURESThisWay
      @ADVENTURESThisWay  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very good points, but the non-HL models don't have a sealed CVT system which is a negative from my perspective. The Scrambler S is very interesting to me but it's heavier AND longer wheel base and no increase in HP...lots to consider...

    • @extreme4kgaming266
      @extreme4kgaming266 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely. My 2012 Polaris sportsman 500 ho Orange Madness edition has never got water in the cvt. Alot of people put silicone and over tighten the box causing it to leak because it warps. I find it interesting though my cvt and air box goes to the top of the tank and all vent lines go to the headlight pod stock. Don't feel bad though JP Stephen's just had his 2019 can am outlander xmr do the same thing yours did.

    • @extreme4kgaming266
      @extreme4kgaming266 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 2012 Polaris Sportsman 500HO orange madness edition I've had since 2013. I've added a 2inch lift, 30" Monster Mayhem tires, swapped to demon axels (stock ones were still fine though) on 14" ITP SS312 rims. EPI clutch kit, K&N air filter, jetted the carb to a 45 idle jet and a 65 main. Swapped the exhaust to a Big Gun Evo full Stainless Exhaust and added front rear bumpers with led halos, led headlight upgrades, led light bar, power madd orange hand guards. Even though it's aged it still turns heads. I use it year around plowing with a 54in Eagle plow and a 3500lb winch. I ride in mud, deep water, snow.

    I almost swapped to a can-am due to constantly changing bushings, bearings, seals, etc.. and hate how complicated it is to snorkel the new body style. But I do work on both Polaris and can-am with both having the same issues. Only difference is that can-am is entirely more expensive to repair. I have 1 machine that is currently stored due to customer waiting to afford the parts that is double the price that it would be to fix the same issue of a Polaris. Not to mention the machine it’s self is very expensive. I do like the 2021 can-am xmr a lot now that they have true 4wd but still priced outrageous.

    brute force or 750 king are the only quads that are both fun and last if you drive hard in the mud, the kawis ive had i mud raced and beat the the snot out of and they go like 5 years before needing even brakes or seals unlike can am or popo, it would beat a can am in any short race too. the outlander i tried i sold in a year it leaked everything squealed like a pig all the time burned my feet and you had to replace everything every year driving it exactly the same.

      Definitely agree some Can Am s years past had issues, no question. I would like to see a head to head 850 Outlander and 750 Bruteforce, don't think it would be very close...the Kawi is a solid machine no doubt

      @@ADVENTURESThisWay this was just recent way after the g2s with issues, the first time i took it to the mud park and trails i took the kawi for 12 years i broke the axle which never happened on the kawi even racing it. can ams are a pain to work on and expensive too, even changing fluids you have to take all the plastic off which they make way harder than it needs too be, kawi you can get to everything that you have to do alot and only have to buy 3 qts of valvoline wet clutch for 4 bucks for the front diff and engine and some tsc universal for the rear which is 20 bucks for 2 gal and i do that 2 times a year, you have to do it more with the mud, the can am is 75 you have to buy 5 different fluids (with the trans different) and everything has to be synthetic, really makes a difference, buying seals all the time and brakes all costs too much the parts are twice the jap machines cost too, never again would i buy popo or can am, unless its for dry trails but around here we have snow and mud constantly and the jap quads are way better at that,

    • @jwfirebird88
      @jwfirebird88 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      raced in many can ams in sanctioned dirt tracks and mud, the outlanders and sportsmans weight almost twice as much in real life unlike what they list, and with just the red spring change i had two quads on every one before we hit the water, tire weight is key too, i ran smaller mud lights too they are the lightest and a huge deal too, i won alot of competitions with that combination. after about 6years i got the weisco 30 over kit with higher compression when the 1000s were starting to get enough power to keep up to me and had alot of startled faces from there 15k quad guys when they couldnt near keep up in either.

      @ADVENTURESThisWay  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like you have a good amount of racing/riding experience...But I was referring to your point about a 750 Brute being faster of the line. To that I say take a stock 850 Outlander vs stock Polaris 850 and stock Kawasaki Brute Force 750 and see who is last at 1000'....

    • @ADVENTURESThisWay
      @ADVENTURESThisWay  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is NO question that Japanese build quality and components are far superior to North America. Price vs cost of maintenance, parts and power to weight ratio are very important factors many overlook. AND higher HP leads to more stress on parts, but the fun factor is hard to match. There is no right answer, just what is right for you.

    I'm not an ATV guy. I just have a Sportsman 850 to do basic shit around the property. If you drive it through water; you'd better expect shit to get fucked up. I'm just going to say this; Polaris is terrible at just about everything from what I have researched about the 850's since it's conception. The level of communication for issues and updated engine components is almost zero. Dealers and Polaris owners are guessing. Dealers don't even have a fucking clue. The frozen PCV (during subzero temps) causes the engine to blow out a rear engine block plug in the winter on early models. It has destroyed a lot of early 850 engines. Polaris made a recall on the PCV (aka Breather valve) only for 2009 models. This is bullshit.
    Than, the Champion spark plugs in the early 850s are complete trash. The engine idles like garbage. But Polaris updated their Champion plug without telling anybody. Meanwhile, guys on Polaris forums are using a fucking Mercedes Benz NGK spark plug to correct the shitty idling. The other problems are the CVT transmissions. These shift like horseshit. These also have a high failure rate. So I have an expensive boat anchor in my garage right now that blows oil all over the godamn place. I'm buying a Can-Am next time.

    • @markfothebeast
      @markfothebeast 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I'd suggest a Can-Am and I will tell you why. I had a 2004 Can-Am (John Deere Buck) before this. I borrowed it from a farmer neighbor for like 3 years (haha). It was left out in the woods. I had to do some work on it. But that thing was extremely reliable compared to the Polaris 850. I beat the shit out of that while hauling things and yanked busted up front ends out of cars with a winch. I'd take a Can-Am over a Polaris any day.
      On a side note; my very first full time job at 18 years old, which was 19 years ago; was in an engine factory where I had no experience with engines. It was called "Robin Manufacturing", owned by Subaru and located in Hudson, WI. This facility manufactured many different engines for different brands including POLARIS. It consisted of a bunch of "temp" workers slapping these engines together at an unreasonably low living wage. I recall the assembly line backing up many, many times and engines falling to the floor about 48-inches. But, ya know, the 30 second rule applied. Aside from that, Polaris appears to have some corporate internal issues with the quality of engineers and other departments. I will not buy another Polaris AGAIN! $12k down the drain. I am going to repair the ATV and sell it. It ONLY has 250 miles on it!!
