When my son was in kindergarten they had their own "pride week" at his elementary school where the teacher would read books about two dads, two moms, my dad is now a mom, etc. I'm all for freedom of expression, that's just a basic right, but bringing 5 year olds into it? Instead of glorifying pride, we should focus on promoting self-respect and humility.

I don't think the other LGBT people you refer to actually care how you compartmentalize your life. But I would say, 1% is low. How much time the average person- queer or not- actually spends doing things related to their sexual orientation or other's? That includes going on dates. Planning and going to weddings. Talking about relationships. Spending non-sexual romantic time with a partner. I wonder if you knew the amount if your sentiment would change. If you only spend 1% of your time dedicated to your sexuality, you are probably not spending enough time with your partner (if you have one).
