“for every fan that matters” is such a cold line. your unwavering favor for the average consumer always keeps me coming back to your reviews JANG
Fr collectors who base their joy on elitism and exclusivity bring nothing to the table for the community
“Lego investors” when a five year old can get a minifig of their favorite character
They are no more than speculators
BUT THE RESALE VALUE?!?!!!
Finally, a TH-camr who doesn’t scream and cry over Rex being in this. A Lego TH-camr who actually is in touch with fans, not scammers and re-sellers
A Lego youtuber that actually LIKES Lego and isn't just in it for views and profit? UNBELIEVABLE!
My favorite thing is that this set made scalpers cry.
"There is actually a major difference between these 2, and that is of course that this one came in a $13 set, HA"
Fire quote
This set is indeed a win for every LEGO Star wars fan. It’s just not a win for the scalpers, investors, and influencers who pretended to be “for the fans”.
As many have said, if you buy an UCS set for the figures... That's on you.
Yea if you have £500s worth of money to spend on a big set like that then complaining about it seems very silly when they could have just waited to buy this for like £13.
Not too mention they get a very big nice looking ship plus Yularen is still exclusive.
this review hits harder than 2008
ouch, my family
JANG is BASED as usual
"A win for every fan that matters" 🤣 Love it. So true.
Titles like this are why Jang is the GOAT.
I hadn't even read the title before reading your comment😂, I clicked on the video as soon as it appeared on my homepage
I heard a great cry, as if a bunch of scalpers screamed in an immature, squeaky rage..
A day when the LEGO ‘investor’ group cries over a toy losing its resale value is always a good day. You bought a $650 SET, not a $650 minifigure. Very excited to get this one.
2:12 you’ll always be a real one for this, Jang 😂
As someone who purchased the Venator for the giant VENATOR that proudly sits on my shelf this set makes me so happy
Everyone should be able to get the Rex minifigure if you brought the Venator just for Rex that's your own fault
If someone is evenly remotely mad about this figure being made more widely accessible. They do not have your best interests in mind.
I’m glad they didn’t downgrade the minifigure. Once we saw that Lego is willing to give us a Rex of this quality, it would’ve been unnecessary to make it worse for the cheaper set.
I agree, it's really nice to get a high quality minifigure in an affordable set, as opposed to cheap minifigures bloating the price of a vehicle
Exactly. After all it makes sense from a production point of view to include the same figure.
I am so grateful that collectors who don't have $1,000 to spend on Lego's can buy Captain Rex for $13. I understand why Venator buyers are upset but also we shouldn't be mad at each other for it. We all have mutual love for a series, lets just enjoy it and the fact that money doesn't gatekeep our enjoyment.
If they were not buying Venator for the Venator, they can only blame themselves
The only people who are upset are the ones who like to gatekeep. They like to either act superior to others by owning something that’s unobtainable to the rest of us, or they’re the people who buy things just to sell at ridiculous prices and only pretend to actually care about owning them so that they can make people want to buy them. So this is 100% a win for everyone who just loves Lego Star Wars.
Jang is a real one. That's why we watch him.
A $13 Rex is a win for kids and adults everywhere. I prefer the Phase 1 design, but either way I'm not turning down the opportunity to get a major character (especially a very good minifigure rendition) for a reasonable price. Already dug out an old black plastic kama from 2008 to add onto him.
everything about this video is a common Jang W, bro's one of the most chill and wholesome LEGO content creators out there and I'll always appreciate him for that
It's great how these Star Wars reviews don't overly complain about no waistcapes or helmet holes like most other reviewers. It's quite refreshing.
I definitely think Lego needs to stop using “Exclusive” as a term to avoid situations like this, but putting Rex in a $13 set is fantastic
Nah, multiple sets and other media always use the term exclusive to refer to them being only avaliable in that place for a limited time. Scalpers and TH-camrs are just salty that they can’t sell their Rex for hundreds of dollars on Bricklink/whatnot
It was exclusive, at the time. They never promised it would be exclusive forever
the only place it was referred to as exclusive was in the instruction book. i'm pretty sure the set designer wrote it, not someone in marketing
Except from the fact that the only time it was mentioned as exclusive was in the instruction manuals. Not anywhere on the box so most people wouldn't realise until they purchased it so it wasn't misleading. But yes they shouldn't have said exclusive.
Thank you for not making this video unnecessarily long and ranting, nice to just hear someone talk about the actual build lacklustre as it may be
A certain popular LEGO Star Wars YTer blocked me for calling out his complaints about this as extremely privileged and out of touch.
I'm proud to be a longtime subscriber of a channel that speaks the minds of ACTUAL fans and not spoiled adults that collect 10000 copies of the same figure to display on 48x48 grey baseplates.
im so glad Lego is fighting against these scummy 30+ yr olds who just horde sets and rip people off
Jang thank you for always keeping it real. Feels like every other Lego channel on here just does sponsored reviews now and are out of touch with the cost consumers have to pay. Been watching you for years and will keep watching as long as you stick around
Im so happy to finally have a rex for my 501st!! It's amazing to see the fake fans and scalper types crying as well. Great review!!
Scalpers getting what they deserve 😂
I love Jang’s integrity and sense of humor 😂
Always love when Jang puts out another Lego Star Wars review.
An acceptable pile of pieces.
Oh. And it also has Rex in it.
It's amazing to get such a popular character in such a cheap set! I remember being a kid and never being able to afford a rex figure so i put blue arms on a regular clone from the 2009 battlepack to replicate him so It's awesome to see that kids nowadays can get him much easier.
I think it’s nice Lego allowing us to get these figures without spending $700
I love that you get extra visors and range finders in this set. It was great since it allowed me to customize more of my clones.
Since they've started the microfighter and mech lines I only felt excitement because I like collecting minifigs but I don't have the space for the big playsets some of the figures I want come in. Something like this is purely a win because I don't have to spend several hundred dollars to get a minifig of my favorite clone
Its good that lego is giving kids/people who arent willing to spend a fortune a way to get memorable or important characters
Jang is a real inspiration, someone who is happy for the fact you can get fan favourite characters in cheep sets and doesn’t care about “exclusively”
Keep up the great work Jang :)
Jang, you're a godsend. I always come back to your review as someone who distances themselves from some members of the LEGO adult community due to their behaviour, you never fail to acknowledge that ultimately we're collecting toys from a company that, first and foremost, for children! They're fun building toys, and the fun should be the point, not scalping plastic for hundreds of dollars!
Thanks for keeping it real, dude
an L for the Investors and Scalpers is a W for the community
This is the greatest LEGO set EVER.
The details, the value, it's all perfect.
The Rex minifigure is fine too, I guess.
Dude you are the goat. These other reviewers who get the sets most hard working people cant get complain that this is the same rex. But you keep it real man. Most people are glad to get a Rex that isnt 100 dollars.
Such a great title, that really encapsulates my thoughts on the set
I’ve never impulsively purchased a set at full price within the first week of release
Huh, that UCS Venator is a much smaller build than I remember 🤣
Win for fans L for the bad scalpers good review as always jang!
I do agree with your views on this set Jang, it is a great way for collectors and fans to not have to dish out hundreds of dollars just for one figure, I know for myself I wouldn't have spent that much money on a figure, so as a collector and a fan I am very grateful for this set.
Jang’s BASED Lego Reviews 🙌
Gotta say, it was absolutely hilarious seeing the scalpers desperately trying to get this thing off the shelves when it dropped. I ordered mine on backorder and had it within 2 weeks, meanwhile people were unironically listing them for $50 the same day it released
So glad Rex is in an affordable set. Awesome video Jang as always!
Wow, callout in the title! 😆
Very excited to pick one up myself, I've wanted a P2 Rex for so long but they were so expensive before now!
I think this whole situation was very revealing for how much certain people don’t care for consumers and how tired most of us are of said people. I’m not even really a Star Wars fan but seeing this all unfold has been crazy. Especially because now the set is basically sold out everywhere. Hopefully we see more casual consumer Ws.
Thank you for not talking about the “Lego lied” controversy, a real Lego review from a real person. Yet again, Jang is a class-act.
As someone who keeps a lot of sets in MISB condition, I'm actually pleased with this release. "Investing" on a set because of a rare minifigure is the dumbest thing ever, because minifigs get reissued often, and almost always in much cheaper sets. This will teach scalpers a good lesson, but I'm not holding my breath on that. Now I would love to see Darth Malak in a microfighter, or perhaps operating one of those mechs.
Glad to see an appreciation for the normal person Jang, you rock!
I'm so glad I can actually afford a Captain Rex now bro 💀
So glad to have Rex back in his Phase 2 Gear for a good price! And the Microfighter itself looks good, and the peices are great!
We need more sets like this, small and not incredibly expensive for those who want the figures and the play features. This is good for children and adults without thousands of dollars to burn on lego.
A really decent comparison to make with this is something Hasbro has done a lot recently.
Hasbro have a habit, with their Transformers line, of releasing an okay version of a figure and acting like it will be the only release for that character, then releasing a better version long after the release of the first. You’re encouraged to buy a worse version because to you, you have no idea there will be better release, or that you will even have a choice at some point.
LEGO on the other hand, keep their expensive stuff around for very long periods of time, and they released this set in a time period that overlapped the UCS Venator. You never had to worry about stocks of sets with Rex. If you want Rex, you can get him in this, or if you want the Venator too, you can get that. There’s no fomo or pressure.
they should've put a battle damaged rex in the venator or something. i'm so happy i can finally afford the most popular clone in all of star wars without selling a kidney
Got this for my little brother and I felt devilishly great doing so. A kid gets a set with a figure of one of his favorite characters without breaking the bank or caving in to scalpers. Lego is great for doing this
Finally a Captain Rex minifigure I can affford.....long have I waited!
As someone that owns the UCS Venator, love that they put Rex in a set like this. He's such a popular character and deserves to be easily accessible (not to mention that UCS sets should be about the set and not the figures so their exclusive figures are dumb anyway)
So glad to be able to get one of my favourite characters at a good price!
That title is so perfect! Jang is speaking the truth!
I love that Microfighters are still a thing, and I hope they continue to come out. They're a great way to build up a collection of iconic ships without sacrificing lots of money, time, and shelf space. Plus, I'm grateful that the Captain Rex here isn't exclusive to the Venator.
That said, I'm still unsatisfied with the suggestion of a kama on recent clones. I'd prefer legs with side prints and dual molding, or a cloth piece with holes in the back so he can sit on studs.
I personally think this was such a good thing for fans to be able to get their hands on! Can’t wait to get a few so I can have a captain Rex in all 5 of my 501st Mocs!
i want everyone to keep in mind that lego never "advertised" the figure as exclusive to the venator. the only place it was referred to that way was one page in the instruction book. it wasn't on the lego listing or amazon listing. nobody got scammed because they bought the venator thinking it was exclusive. anybody saying that is just saying it to complain because lego star wars "fans" are addicted to complaining. lego did pretty much everything perfectly, so these people are grasping at straws for things to complain about.
not to mention lego has worded stuff similarly in the past and didn't actually mean it would be forever exclusive
Love that title Jang!
"This figure is different in one way... it came in a $13 set! HA!"
I love you, JANG! 🤣
And quite fitting it was a Y-Wing set that did this, my favorite starfighter, heh.
Greatest title from the greatest reviewer
Couldn't agree more with that title :D
love the title. 100% agree
Enraging scalpers aside, Lego really should make popular characters more readily available in general.
Makes a lot of people happy and messes with LEGO 'investors'? Good stuff
Loved how he didn't review the set for 10% of the video and ranted about Rex for the rest of it
I have no need for microfighters or minifigs, but I consider buying this purely to laugh at the "investors" who bought the Venator just for the minifigure.
🎉Let’s hear it for accessible figures!🎉
That video title… perfect.
I got nothing against Lego investors making a good turnaround on the side, but when they start gatekeeping widely released Lego sets to protect their investment it pisses me off. Thanks again Jang!
Finally, a reviewer that isn't complaining about "exclusivity." I feel that it should be easily available
May we get many many more rare figures in cheap sets!
I love the micro fighter line and I’m so excited to add this to my collection! Great review as always Jang!
Love you Jang! Great review as always!
Thank you Jang, a pleasure to watch as always!
Chimaera Microfighter with Admiral Thrawn next?
Very happy to be able to get this! That’s such a great Rex, and he’ll go great with Fives!
Its good for what it is but i do agree with you that both the figure and vehicle could have done eith some improvements. For a kid's toy though, it's fine albeit pricier than I'd want a microfighter to be
This is an absolute win and also should be the norm, for a main character.
It'd be ludicrous if Ahsoka, Clone Wars Anakin, or Clone Wars Obi-Wan were only sold in one set from years ago or only in a 650 USD UCS set, like this version of Captain Rex.
That title is brutal lol. Very true though
If only every single company gets the memo and starts to think first about fans that matters... That's right, I'm looking at you HASBRO!
That title goes crazy, we love a sassy jang
Oh Rex minifig wanters REJOICE. Sure he doesn't come with the little side cloth thing but man, for that price it ain't too bad! gonna use one of those minifig stands and prop him up at my desk when I get him lol
"Exclusivity" is Toxic
Lego should stop using that kind of marketing. Stuff should have intrinsic value because its cool and fun, not because it was artificially limited.
And here's the kicker, Jane doesn't profit off of people spending hundreds on Captain Rex figures!
I’ve been waiting months for this
I felt a great disturbance in the Force … as if millions of "investors" suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.
Looks amazing set great minifig awesome review jang 👍
Yes! I think it's a great idea for highly desired named characters to be in microfighters like this, with battlepacks for the more generic figures. I highly disagree with a sentiment out there that more accessible figures ought to be "worse quality" than those in very expensive sets. More accessible stuff is better for everyone; Lego is great because it's fun and cool, not because of exclusivity and resale value.
Def gonna buy it for the fig
