Here’s what I think:
LEGO makes the microfighter first to get everyone to buy it for the Rex, then release a full size one in a year or two so that everyone who wanted the actual build now has to make two purchases. It’s brilliant.
and make a new improved version of rex, one we wanted (and obviously we will buy)
Even if thats true, it would ve ok since that means captain rex is available wide range of price range. Those who just want capt rex can just buy this microfighter instead of buying the much more expensive y wing full set
The fact that anyone thought that a new captain Rex mold, a massively popular character, would stay exclusive to the venator is pretty funny.
They thought it because Lego promised it

It may have been exclusive at the time to customers, but they had to have known this was in the pipeline, which makes the statement kind of shady yet not technically wrong

Honestly, this is what Lego is about. If you have an idea, you can make it, just be creative, and it works! That's why I love Lego.
The perfect collab doesn’t exi-
Blaise did an amazing job with the 501st Y-Wing. For the sagging engines, I think it's possible to reduce it if there is a 1x2 plate at the end of the body so that the weight is held evenly on two locations. However, I'm not sure how much that would require modifying the build. Also, based on how much the plates make contact with the engines, the sag might just be inevitable. If the set is just being displayed in landing mode, you could try just sliding in a piece to see how it would go.
I love that the Y-wing, my favorite starfighter, came with Rex and sent the LEGO "Investors" into a tizzy.
I didn't realize LEGO only made the Clone Wars Y-wing once. I did consider getting the set back then, because I really loved the fully clad Y-wing.
But, this is a great rendition here! Good job, Blaise!

His Y-wing is the best!!! 10/10, he did an excellent job with modifying and revolting the Y-wing from yellow to blue

This video inspired me to make my own Y-Wing based on Rex’s. I successfully created an almost exact replica of the 2009 Y-Wing in the 501st Color Scheme, it looks amazing.

i was thikning it looks neat until i saw the bottom and i was stunned how awesome it was. Landing gear especially bought me and deffinietly id like it as an official set.
One thing id like to change/try to update is perhaps the gunner seat, better way of fitting and/or to try to make it spinnable? but this is just a loose thought

I love how people complain about him being in a super expensive set and that normal fans can’t get him then complain when he comes in a cheaper set because it degrades his value and they can sell home for 10x his value

I have the original yellow clone wars Y-Wing and I was really hoping that I could just swap out the yellow for blue parts. But Rex's y-wing's colors are inverted and color swapped, so I'd just end up building an entirely new y-wing. Next thing to try is to make a minifig scale Rex's Y-wing using multiple microfighters.

My Target didn’t get the memo to stock the June first sets, so I wasn’t able to get it yesterday.
I'd imagine if this set was real then I'd bet the minifigures would be Rex, Ashoka, Jesse, and or Ashoka's ashtromech droid with maybe one or 2 332nd clones

Wrong! I like Y-wings, and don't have Phase 2 Rex. I would have bought a microfighter Y-wing no matter what figure it included, and I would have bought any microfighter that included a Phase 2 Rex.

I really liked this video and the build looks awesome but I'm not a fan of the "We fixed this" kind of title. It comes off as arrogant and kind of toxic.
That’s not a micro fighter anymore though. Just because you add more pieces doesn’t mean you’ve done a better job than the designers. They’re operating on a limited budget, you aren’t.
This micro fighter is so bad, it is way to big, and the figures look sh+t too.
The old one was way better
