    Find out more at www.airfix.com
Making full use of the captured German aerodynamic research material, the North American F-86 Sabre is one of the most important aircraft of the early jet era.
Boasting a distinctive 35-degree wing sweep, three nose mounted .50 calibre machine guns, as well as a host of design philosophies from the famous piston engined predecessor.
A true aviation classic, the Sabre entered service with the U.S Air Force in 1949 and at the time, was the fastest fighter aircraft in the world.

Further to Mat K's comment (below); the Australian virtual 'rebuild' of the F-86F into the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation's (CAC) CA-26P (Prototype) followed by the CA-27 (1st model of the production run) was what came to be called, the Australian Avon Sabre.
The CA-27 Avon Sabre had so many improved modifications that it was required to be registered as a new aircraft type.
The Avon Sabre drew so much praise from the USAF they seriously considered taking them on but were just beaten by time and a newer aircraft type entering their inventory.
The Avon Sabre has a longer fuselage; improved air-breaks; 2 cannons instead of six small MGs; higher speeds; greater manoeuvrability; better fuel consumption and overall flight characteristics way ahead of the 'parent' aircraft.
This would be a truly interesting kit for Airfix to adopt in coming years. The CA-27 Avon Sabre and its following marks are well known to Sabre modellers and enthusiasts the world over. There is no complete 1/72 or 1/48 scale kit in existence of the Avon Sabre. Only a poor resin conversion set for an existing F-86F which does not lengthen the fuselage or properly adopt all the unique features of the Australian Avon Sabre.
Please do some market research and you’ll learn more about this amazing aircraft.
    Kind regards, Bill H.

Beautiful model, of a wonderful fighter, but why not Korean war's decals? Naturally there are a lot of after market ones, but having them in the box would be easier.
