    You've basically nailed the premise! It's about literally invading a corrupt person's mind (which takes the shape of a palace) and forcefully making them have a change of heart.

    • @pezdispencer113
      @pezdispencer113 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Which is insanely immoral, especially since the game established it's not their fault and the distortions of the metaverse is what's responsible for their terrible behaviour.

    • @john_7000
      @john_7000 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pezdispencer113 that's not true at all, the distortion it came from the masses as a whole but the Palaces it came from the person itself they are ones the one who built those palaces from there distorted desires being extremely distorted because of there ambition is too big it literally said that, there is no excuses for them, stop giving any of those palace rulers excuse they are all pieces of shits except of course futaba and Sae

      @@pezdispencer113 You could kind of make the case that makes it more moral. In fact, you can make the case that it's the only moral thing that could be done. Because then it's more like a disease in your body that needs to be removed. If it's not their fault, they are suffering through it as well.The phantom thieves aren't the ones dishing out punishment afterwards. They remove the corruption, if anyone is the immoral in the scenario it's the criminal justice system at the back end. If these people weren't at fault, once the corruption is gone, then instead of being punished they should be given therapy. If it was a choice then it's who they want to be. If it was a choice, there were many decisions that led them down the path to get them where they are before the phantom thieves intervened, but with them not having a choice it means this is an attack upon them as well. It would be immoral to let that continue. The corrupted would also not be in a sound state of mind to make the decision for themselves either. It would be akin to letting a mentally unstable person harm themselves because they don't have a full grasp of reality. Would you sit back and watch? I dunno...sounds kind of heartless to allow that suffering to continue and do nothing.

    • @Caelinus
      @Caelinus ปีที่แล้ว +107

      @@pezdispencer113 If the distortions are forced on them then removing the distortion is restoring their will, not really forcing them to change. It is making them normal.
      I think in the lore though, you are not really forcing them to do anything technically. First, their distortions are from the corruption in the metaverse, but the reason that particular people develop the distortion is because they had unhealthy desires. The metaverse warped those desires and turned them into compulsions, and what you are doing is not so much changing their thinking as it is taking the compulsion away so *they* can finally think clearly about their actions.

    • @GokuInfintysaiyan
      @GokuInfintysaiyan ปีที่แล้ว +47

      @@pezdispencer113
      That makes no sense.
      If the reason they are evil is because of the Metaverse distorting them, and Phantom Thieves enter the metaverse to remove the distortion, that just means they are putting things back to normal for that person and restoring their freedom.
      If they naturally became evil and distorted, with their cognition altering the metaverse, which is more likely, then MAYBE you have a case. But even then I disagree. All it does is removed distorted views and allow you to observe your own actions through an objective filter. It doesn’t force you to be nice, only to not have distorted desires.

    The Persona series is deeply based in Jungian theories of psychology -- masks, shadows, mass cognition and naturally, personas. The game takes the metaphorical terms and treats them a bit more literally.

    • @Redhollow
      @Redhollow ปีที่แล้ว +39

      Mass cognition isn't the exact term, it's the Collective Unconscious. They used more cognitive behavioral ideas in Persona 5 (literally changing someone's cognition to affect their behavior) and put the Jungian stuff further to the side than usual, but that's all still well put. Jung is all over this franchise.

And how the people that stand against them can't stop that because it's not something that can be stopped, it's a revolution, Life Will Change. And like the instrumentation effects that as the song progresses it starts layering in more and more elements choir, rhodes piano, ect. It just supports the narrative of the song more.

    Persona 5 follows the format of some kind of heist movie, especially the Japanese 'kaito' genre when the theif or theives send a note like "we'll steal your precious and you can't stop us" beforehand.
    The protagonists are going into a heist into the mind of a poweful, but corrupt figure. The agressive and taunting lyrics are basically a challange note to the villain.

  • @Crazyjosh169

    Something worth noting is that for the vast majority of the game this track is actually an instrumental that starts up when you're about to make the final run through a level to challenge the boss. You've done all your research, you've searched every nook and cranny for advantages and now it's time to finish it, so the music is always associated with that triumphant march.
    THIS one pops up at one of the emotional climaxes of the story, suddenly the hype track you've been swaggering around to all game gains a whole other dimension. It feels like you and your crew have finally crystalised exactly who you are, what you've already done, and what you're about to do now. And there's not a damned thing your opponent can do about it ;D

    "That very unique cadence and way of enunciating things."
    The singer, Lyn (or Rin) Inaizumi, is Japanese. I can't find any definite sources on how much English she knows, but she has apologized for her delivery after one boneheaded journalist thought there was a racial slur in one song.
    Some people question whether she's even all that fluent in English, and it's entirely possible that she sang them without much understanding of what the words meant.
    But I love it. Somehow it adds to the Jazziness for me. I'm sure she was given a translation, but if the individual words, the syllables, meant little to nothing to her, then this approaches scatting. At least to my sensibilities.

    LOL, yeah. He's spot on with that analysis of what's going on. Corrupt leaders, teachers, authority figures. They are using their positions of power to take advantage, and in some cases literally abuse people. So a group found they had powers and started using them to fight back; to take back freedom for not just themselves, but the people without the power to defend themselves.
    It's interesting how music can tell a story all it's own, and why I am fascinated by games. Because they take all different forms of art and put them together to tell the same story, in different ways at the same time. Each part of it, the music, the visuals, the dialogue, even what's happening during the game-play elements, all tell a different part of what's going on together.

    Not an organ by the way it' is called a Rhodes Piano and is in a lot of the Persona 5 songs, granted it sounds a bit like an organ but it's a slightly different. It's more like a piano still uses hammers but they hit tines instead of strings that then get picked up by a mic and amplified. But is pretty popular in Jazz songs which is persona 5's motif jazz = cool = phantom thieves.

    Its impressive that you accurately deduced the premise of the game, and the way you described it sounds like the main characters (PT) in the game are also the bad guys, the only nuance that wasnt included in the song is that the PT are just naive kids which is their best defense on their actions (aside from the supernatural aspect that an evil god is behind this).

    In the game you summon the power of your Persona by tearing a literal mask off your face. When applied to real life it’s all metaphorical, but it still works: removing the mask you wear for the people around you to unleash your true self

    he game is about a high schooler is committed of a false crime. and get sent to a different school as a punishment. as the story go's he discover he has the power to change the hearts of adults who thing they can do what ever they want. not going to spoil anything but the game can get messed out. especially at the first level. its turn based rpg and slice of life (meaning you will be doing normal teenager stuff and fight monsters at the same time). the game is really long the first story level take 50 hr. alone.

    Just discovered you through your Persona reactions! I love your content, your analysis to lyrics is so spot on. PLEASE do some videos on the Persona 3 Reload OST! Its a new Persona game coming out in a month, but some of the OST has already been released. Better yet, what P5 did with jazz, P3 does with rap, so its even more in your area!
    I recommend: Mass Destruction, It's Going Down Now, and Color Your Night

    Something that this song has in particular. It is that the lyrics do not make much sense, until you play Persona 5, especially when you are already going through the last palaces, this song becomes the anthem of the game and the hype reaches its maximum, when you know the whole story. And the lyrics become pure poetry
