    Great video. This lens is now on my Fuji X-T4 more than 50% of the time. It is spot on when it comes to focus on infinity, which is key for me since I shoot mostly street/urban/documentary style photography. I've also purchased a set of CPL and 1-8 VND filters, which made this lens even more versatile for super sunny day out shooting when I still want that bokeh look. I also have the Macro-APO 35mm F2. It is, IMO, the sharpest lens for X mount put out by Voigtlander so far. I also prefer the Ultron line vs. Nokton mainly for the sharpness quality

    Always nice to see you Doriyan. I got the TTArtisan 27mm and returned it the next day (maybe I just got a bad copy), then it was between the XF27 or the XF33 f/1.4 (I got the latter and really like it). Be well.

    What a great presentation! I've been waiting for the first real world reviews to come in on this lens, so I was happy to get your alert for this video.
    I have and love the 27mm f/2.8 R-WR Fujifilm lens, so I don't NEED the Voightlander, but two things make me desire it.
    First is the ability to zone focus for the street and look down to see that zone via the DOF scale. Add that tab, and I'm back in familiar territory like I was with my Summicron on my M6 in the film days.
    Second, the one thing that frustrates me more than anything on the Fujifilm 27mm is the too long minimum focus distance. I'm always bumping up against it. The Voightlander focuses closer, so I would like that.
    Since this is a $600 lens and I already bought the $400 Fujifilm lens, this will not be a casual decision, but I appreciate your review.
    FWIW, I have the Voightlander 40mm f/2 on my full frame Nikon DSLR, and it hasn't come off in a year. They really know how to make lenses.

    • @doriyancoleman
      @doriyancoleman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Zone focusing honestly just feels right, and the DOF scale puts you right in sync with the craft.
      Yeah, the MFD is tough of the 2.8. The Voigtlander does go much closer, but for my style I’m not close enough to people/things to take advantage. Something for you to think about for sure!
      Definitely take your time with the decision. I like both lenses, can’t go wrong with either, but the Voigtlander beats out the Fuji version for me personally.
      And yes they do! Quality lenses on almost every mount. Voigtlander is for the people 🙏🏾

  • @Deetroiter
    @Deetroiter ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I had the 23mm Voigtlander for the x mount and what a killer lens. I honestly liked it much better than a lot of the Fuji branded lenses because the Voigtlander actually has some character to it. All of the Fuji lenses, I couldn't tell any difference at all between them except the focal length. They were all too sharp, too perfect, etc. The Voigt has just enough character to it to give it some realness to the photos. I'd imagine that this 27mm would be absolutely awesome like the 23mm. How do you feel this compares to the Fuji 27mm? Not sure why, the locations in the photos look really familiar for some reason

    • @doriyancoleman
      @doriyancoleman  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Because of size, IQ/character, aperture and overall handling I prefer the Voigtlander 23 1.2 over all of Fuji’s 23mm options. And the 23 F2 was my favorite for a long time!
      Voiglander 23 vs 27, I’d choose the 23. I prefer the 35mm equivalent, and the 1.2 aperture is great to have.

    • @eZaY47
      @eZaY47 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly my thoughts. I prefer 23 1.2 more as it is more useful indoors due to wider focal length and, especially during winter months, when there is less sunlight.

      I can't speak for the WR updated version, but I never use my 27mm f/2.8, it really offers nothing special aside its size...pretty bland colors, barely any depth, the autofocus noise is really annoying and using it manually highly unsatisfying...

      @doriyancoleman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thenowornerverkid1 I like the TTArtisan 50mm 1.2 a lot actually, Dee Rosa gave it to me as a gift! But TTArtisan 27mm 2.8 vs Voigtlander 27mm, on the Ultron you’re getting significantly better build quality, smoother focusing and aperture rings, much image quality, access to EXIF data, tactile focus tab, lovely character, top to bottom it’s better.
      Now, for those on a budget, simply wanting a 40mm equivalent, or just don’t want to spend $600, I totally get it the TTArtisan. Still though, the Voigtlander beats it in every way.

    • @eZaY47
      @eZaY47 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't forget that Voigtlander has electronic contacts/pinout. It allows for better IBIS support and also you get parallax on X-Pro3, not to mention exif data. For my vintage and TTartisan/7artisans lenses I always tried to remember to switch lens profile in camera to have at least some info in exif data and corrections. But I do agree that Voigtlander lenses are a bit overpriced, but I guess they are in a position to do such pricing.
