Dan and the co writers there did amazing, their best work I think came with RDR2 where they really got that really strong story along with character relationship execution, I don’t think the Gta series has gotten that strong mix of the two yet even though they’ve had great campaigns and great dialogue. IV and San Andreas probably were the closest. So Rockstar can improve on some aspects after Dan’s work on GTA.

There are numerous instances of a person who is known as a good writer being promoted to lead and then things falling apart and writing becoming outright terrible because lead's job isn't only to write, but also to lead. Or every writer actually has a personal set of flaws, things they don't handle very well, but if they're one of many, these flaws are insignificant, but when they get promoted, these flaws start being plastered all over the creative work. A good lead finds a way to make the team fix these flaws. People can become arrogant, they might be blindsided by apparent success to things they're doing wrong. They'll likely have to build their creative approach anew, which can succeed or fail.
I love Dan and everything he's created. Hoping to see this new "absurd" venture really take off. I think behind this promo what we're seeing is a true artist who is having difficulty understanding the crazy times we are living in and how these times are preventing true visionaries from expressing what they want to express, and doing what it is that they want to do in their work. Good to see Dan back. Ever since I heard of this about a year or so ago I've been excited for it. It's looking like this has the potential to move the medium forward just like Dan and Co did with Rockstar Games. And judging by the description it's going to be the 18+ adult content that I've been craving for in gaming. There are far too many family friendly over the top fantasy nonsense and super hero games out there. I want new gritty adult experiences. Cyberpunk 2077 was a step in the right direction. The adult gritty videogame experiences are usually the most cringe, scripted and low quality games ever made. Some people are assuming this is a gaming studio. The way it’s described makes it sound like Dan Houser will be selling his storytelling services as a consultant. As of early this year, the address I found on the company is one of Dan’s houses, there is no office, no employees. And the company describes itself as building worlds for a variety of mediums, take that as you will Edit: the website has since been updated to include job hirings in Santa Monica, CA, an address in the UK has been posted somewhere as well.
At the time of my comment it stood true. Video games was included in their scope but so were other mediums people ignored, like graphic novels. Now they are hiring and might have an office, employees, infrastructure, etc. it’s becoming more clear what kind of company it is.

Dan also filed for the LLC in 2021 so it had been radio silence until the website was released and it was all very vague. A lot of people assumed game development only and games like GTA and a lot of articles would say only game development, but the website description was broader than that. Looking at the listings now, it is more than games, it’s 2d animation, audio novels, graphic novels and comics, etc. The descriptions of their two projects still don’t really explain what it is , just that we will see more about it in 2024.

I'm glad to see Mr Houser is back. I can't wait to see what this new studio will create in the future. 👍 My first Rockstar game was GTA III on PS2, then I played to GTA Vice City and these both games were amazing, and still nowadays. Later, I played GTA SA, Bully 2, GTA IV and EFLC, Max Payne and Red Dead Redemption. These games are just amazing. My favorite game by far is Red Dead Redemption 2. I've always followed Rockstar's activities and now, I'm going to follow Absurd Ventures'. 👍

I know some of these companies would rather work with Sweet Baby Inc instead.

Im actually excited to see projects from Dan houser and lazlow jones. I heard lazlow on a podcast talking about behind the scenes on rdr2 and all the gta games and he spoke about the little world building Easter eggs and discoverables like the boots on the cliff referencing a suicide and the FIB “CP” trap in gta iv being things him and Dan came up with (those only being two of many) and I’m excited to see what they do at their new studio and what kind of game they make next
