Thanks! Any other places you'd like to see, either night or day?

Jericho has lost _so_ many pubs since the 70s.

I know. It really annoys me when I see that Halls sign and remember that that house used to be a nice pub. But it isn't just Jericho. I videoed Lake Street a few days ago, and I'm pretty sure that had two pubs, with another (Grandpont Arms?) not so far away. The Tesco at the bottom of Abingdon Road was once the Hare and Hounds (?). There were pubs in the "desert" between Summertown and Cutteslowe, e.g. the Dancing Dragon was once the Kings Arms, and there were others. Even two on Woodstock Road, I think, one where a restaurant now is. Cafes are OK, when present, but here, as against e.g. the Netherlands, they close early, tend to be plain, and don't give you the "craic" with the bar staff.

It wasn’t the Hare & Hounds. I am racking my brain to recall what it was called. I have a pamphlet, dating back to 1978 ‘Oxford Pubs Past & Present’ It will be in there. I’ll let you know when I find it. Oxford, in general, has lost a lot, but Jericho has been the worst hot because of the loss of all those little ‘working men’s’ pubs that couldn’t be supported once Luceys and OUP started laying people off.
The one that has closed down that I shall never miss, is the Bullnose Morris. I used to call it ‘The Zoo’, which, thinking about is, is an insult to zoos.
