@JakeGutteridge If you watch the video, you'll see their mate come out and they greatfully jump onto the mans arm and then moves to the internal perch, where they are safe. If you see the McCaw again, as I said bribery will get you everywhere, give the McCaw some fruit and you'll make amends. As I said the camera plus thingy you have it on may look like a club. McCaws and other parrots are great, they live a long time, have great memories, are highly intelligent, but they also pair bond, so whomever the mans partner is may not gey on well with the McCaw. I had an African green for many years. The McCaw may have been raised in captivity but given that they can live many Decades, it may have been caught in the sixties. In the wild they will 60 years and thats with predation, if cared for properly they could live as long as a human. How to get a mccaw to like you "Fruits, vegetables, legumes. Nuts and seeds can be served in limited quantities as treats." Parrots are utterly wonderful!
Firstly it's a McCaw and secondly its utterly TERRIFIED of You. The way it's looking through the glass, hoping to get their partner from inside the shop to come rescue them. The bouncing up and down is an 'I'm terrified" threat posture, they're biting into the wood because they are trying to relax themselves by eating something. They staring whole one eye at you so that they can try to understand what you are. And by you I don't mean you human, its that thing on that your holding that looks like a club, that might in its memory be the thing that caused them to be captured as a youngster & they lost their family. Anybody who is reading this, if you want to make friends, come bearing fruit. Want to be really nice, just drop off the fruit and bimble away, they will remember you a fruit friend. But be warned it's a tamed wild bird, treat them with respect, if they get scared they can lash out and hurt you. Think of how you make friends with a horse and the McCaw will grow used to you especially if you share fruit with them. Which means they might permit touching & especially if you stroke them like a dog. And please people: be kind to the McCaw!
Aw. That's sad. A macaw is a type of parrot by the way. I never thought that the macaw might be scared, as I've seen him sitting with the owner outside, and the bird seems chilled out. I suppose he's just an attraction for the shop but hope he receives love as someone's pet. Now that I notice the chewed-up seat, it's quite a sad scene actually.
Ohhh, poor thing! If it's terrified of me, what must it think of the cars, the noise, and the courier bikes? But thanks for the info, and I hope everyone takes note. And thanks for telling me its name.
