I'm envious of you. I've tried so many times to get into this game but I find it just overwhelms me. Hopefully 1.0 is enough to motivate me to break through whatever self-imposed obstacle that's stopping me.
1:21:20 - I found in the options that you can set your enemy ignore threshold to Average difficulty (instead of Easy) and it will let you autonavigate despite seeing Easy enemies. I also found it useful to turn on the minimap and Nearby Objects menu which can be toggled at the top of the right sidebar.
I am SO EXCITED to watch this series. The original Qud series you made was what originally got me interested in Qud in the first place. I still have fond memories of you encountering all of the iconic Qud moments for the first time (omitted for spoilers, but the story is so fun and I couldn’t possibly ruin the beats for anyone). The very ending was also beautiful. Let’s just say that a lot of the randomly generated histories that the devs are so fond of incorporating ended up being a big part of that.
I came to your channel for Disco Elysium and wasn't expecting to see QUD, but I'm super stoked that you're playing it! :D Can't wait to see what you get up to in this funky little world.
When Tam ask if he knows who his people is and he says no. The response after that sort of implies that he's stupid. He says that his people have been around for thousands of years and met everyone who can think or speak. Implying that he is neither despite having a conversation with him.
To attack a neutral entity in melee hold control and then press the number pad in whatever direction they are from you. That's handy for when you're clearing out the dread tubers.
You can change your primary limb by hovering the mouse cursor over whatever limb or appendage you want and pressing insert. That can work for everything from horns to wings or any particular limb of a 20 armed freak.
Your character will not automatically pick up items if they are aware of hostile entities around them. Also, looting dead enemies appears to be a manual thing. No there is an advanced options section in the settings to tinker around with various automations.
When you press a for the ability menu, you can drag and move abilities to whatever order you would like on the bar at the bottom. Also if you press in search over any of the abilities you can give it a test of shortcut and not the One automatically assigned. Assigning the camp ability to something like shift C, for Sprint to shift es will streamline a few things.
idk why its disabled by default but the nearby things interface is goated, not sure of the specific setting but check it out Edit: In the UI config, check "Show nearby objects list"
Does anyone know if there are settings in this game to change the font, or background colour around the font? My dyslexia does not like this but the game looks super cool!
Most of the very cool cybernetics are not in the starting list. Mutations are all in the starting list from what I have seen in game. Big difference between cybernetics vs mutations is that cybernetics can be found the world, whereas mutations are purely from leveling up. So your knowledge of the world map directly influences your progress with Truekin. For beginners I recommend mutant first, because you can learn where all the cybernetic credits are while playing mutant for your truekin runs.
there are several cybernetics that arent in the starting list, some are very powerful. for mutations, the ones avaiable at character creation are the full list
main problem with true kin are actually two: - mutations are way more versatile than cybernetics; some of them also lock body parts, because the lack of options weren't enough; - it takes too long in the game for true kin to reach peak point, with all credits hunting and cybernetics hunting. Mutations you grab fly and vortex generation and teleport and flame fields at level 1. Not to say cybernetics have no scaling at all - the most you can do is using items with bonus compute power, which are limited to specific gear parts, and the bonuses normally aren't worth the bit costs, and few of them even use this as a boost. I was expecting a small buff, more cybernetics variations, or at least a lesser cost in cyber credits on 1.0, but guess not.
It actually is just a continent. There are three lore books in the game that detail the other ones, the "Across the Moghra'yi" series if I remember correctly. Definitely give them a read if you can find them... Or just sell them for a lot of water, you don't gotta listen to me.
Yay! You're back. First person I ever watched play Qud, and the reason I bought the game and lost 1000 hours to it. Glad to see you return
I wrote the above before I found out you were running Truekin for your first character back. You're dead to me.

Lol. Truekin think they are soooo special.
Yeah I wanna get it but I'm afraid 😭
So glad to see you coming back to Caves of Qud! And doubly pleased to see you creating a tutorial for it after exploring it so thoroughly in the past!

I imagine you'd have to cut pretty deep to upset a root.
Very fast!

Does anyone know if there are settings in this game to change the font, or background colour around the font? My dyslexia does not like this but the game looks super cool!
Ahhhhhh Qudmas!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
can you get cybernetics/mutations that are not in starting list?

Quetzal!
Is there any mouse input?
how did you get inventory like that? is that change classic/new GUI?
they added new huds on 1.0, also has controller support now
It’s the new one, which is now also the default.
@darloth oh?

can you turn off the horizontal "scan lines" in this game? looks awful.
How can this be entire world.
Seems like just a continent
