This final video, the last in the three part series will show you how to prep your applique top for quilting and teach you how to quilt. My great grandma was an amazing applique quilter. I'm trying to learn to fix one of her gorgeous quilts and make my own for future children. This helps a lot! She also only sewed at the end of the night when she was watching television or in between reading, and she, indeed, sewed massive quilts only dedicating seemingly small amounts of time. She passed away when I was little, and I inherited most of her quilts. I look at the stitches and think about how much love she put into every single stitch. ♥️

I have suddenly been pulled/called to work on hawaiian quilts. Your three videos found me very well. I have started my first quilt (a plumeria) and am enjoying the process so much (I finally made it to the quilting phase). I love how you said to have Aloha in your heart, I had to do some research and learn what exactly does aloha mean? And I came to find it's a whole lifestyle. It also lead me to Ho-aponopono which has been incredibly good for my state of mind. Thank you for sharing these gifts, they are far reaching.

oooh! This! This is what I was looking for. Thank you for your tutorials. The typical quilting patterns are so geometric and though very nice, they lack the organic look and feel wanted. This looks and feels like a real flower. I'm definitely going to try this out.

I really liked your presentation on how to do hand quilting. I have a couple of friends who are wanting to learn to do hand quilting. I sent them your video because having you there by their side all the time for reference will make their experience more enjoyable. Of course I’m there to help them when they need it but I have learned some tips on how to help them if they should ask me. I’m self taughtI.And I love watching these videos to enhance my own quilting skills. I really like your quilts and I think I might start a Hawaiian quilt myself. Thoroughly enjoyed your video. It was quite helpful. I have applique’d many of the cushion tops that I will eventually sew together as blocks for a quilt. I have tried to quilt a cushion top, but not with the method you show. I also have a 45-inch top with an applique’s outer border. The applique is very enjoyable and relaxing.

I love your tutorials, and I’m ready to quilt my first Hawaiian quilt wall hanging, I’m wondering if a hoop is necessary? Or can it be stitched without one? The one I’m working on is 45 x 45.
Your interview on Karen’s Quilting Circle was so inspiring! I felt very motivated and watched your first video right after. Thank you for your videos!! I started the pillow top the next day. I will be starting the hand quilting, as shown in this video, next. Would you be able to post a video of how to turn the finished piece into a pillow? You are such a good teacher, thank you. I do have a question. When placing design of a light color onto background of a dark color, how do you avoid the background showing "shadowing" through the design?
Aloha Monica when sewing a light color to a darker fabric your darker color will sometimes show thru so choosing your colors is very important.

I am trying to find a video that shows how to attach the back part of the pillow & the binding. I am making a Hawaiian quilted pillow to surprise a makua hānai who takes in many hanai on her own dime. She mentioned that she loves the pillows I made in the past, but it's been a while & I don't remember how I attached the back & binding. I kind of do, but since this is for someone else, I want to make sure it's perfect. Can you please direct me to a video that shows how to attach the back & the binding? Mahalo nui loa!!
Question: Did you change threads to match the background when you did the echo quilting on the outside of the appliqué? Or was it all blue?

How many quilting stiches per inch for a beginner?
6-8 stitches is a great start for beginners.
Is it a single thread use or double?
Always use a single thread on your applique and quilting.

What is your thimble?
For beginners I recommend a leather thimble to start with because you still can feel the needle and get comfortable wearing a thimble. For myself I use my nail, after years of teaching I found I'm more comfortable using the tip of my nail but you need to be careful one slip and the needle could slip under your nail.
