    I'm not anywhere near a craftsman in the art of wood working and my dad was a turn of the century
    carpenter , he designed built and operated sawmills all around east Texas in the 40s-70s . I have had the love of trees logs rough sawn milled lumber etc in my b!ood since a young boy in the late 50s I can say with
    all the confidence of a 71 year old man with a woodshop at my home, you are a craftsman in every sense of the word & a credit to the profession. Great stuff

      Walnut is too precious (and expensive) to waste. My offcuts turn into drawer pulls and door knobs, inlay pieces, or pens :)

    You have really nice tools for a hobbyist. I’ve seen woodworking shops that don’t have half of what you have. I’m impressed.

    • @AaronGeller
      @AaronGeller 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If professional shops don’t have what they need, they aren’t charging properly. Great work can be done without really nice tools, but great tools allow great artisans to churn out pieces faster.

    iv never seen this technique before of leaving material around the object to be able to clamp it. that's an awesome idea

      @theodoreiliaskos 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sikor Sikor that technique is another tool in your arsenal. Learn it and keep it at the back of your mind for when you need it.
      I’m not saying cut a whole tree and use it to clamp your work. But if these pieces were going to end up as scrap. Don’t cut them leave them to help you for clamping.
      You don’t have to use that in every job you do

    • @Belg1970
      @Belg1970 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While I love the idea, the fact that it uses way more material eats into profits. With the material he started with could have two legs from the first piece hence not waste. Using clamping cauls would have been more practical/economical and since it seems like he'll be making more of these tables, reusable.
      The end product looks fantastic.

    Hello Sir. I think you table is Fantastic! I have one suggestion. Being a cabinet shop manager for 16 years. I have taught many people how to use a table saw. Not saying there’s only one way. Your left hand is for holding your leading edge agents the fence. Pushing towards the fence and forward at the same time.
    Walking your fingers sliding them back continuing a forward cut. The thing I see is that your letting you left hand stay to far forward past the blade. If your hand was to slip. Not good. Try a making a finger board. Keep up the detailed work.

    Beautiful work. Ignore the hate. I just started woodworking myself. Starting off with scorched rustic flags and eventually would like to start building furniture. I’m definitely more of a hobbyist at this point. My full time is that of a firefighter and I’ve reached a point in my career where woodworking is more therapeutic for me. Keep honing your craft. Someday I hope to reach your skill level.

      Thank you, Matthew. I appreciate the positivity, and that's exactly what I'm doing - just enjoying time in the shop, and trying to put a little bit back out into the woodworking community. It certainly is therapeutic. I just wanted to make a surfboard rack, and ended up making everything I possibly could after that. I had no idea it would lead into something that I wanted to do and continue to learn so passionately. Thank you for being a firefighter - that's awesome. Happy woodworking.

    Very inspiring. And a very cool table. I am at a point in my life where most of my passion lies in carpentry and woodworking and I would like to pursue it through making new pieces and refinishing old and "unwanted" pieces as well. I am a general contractor and love building new homes, but tired of building and working on other people's homes. I want to just get into the shop and create, and get out on my OWN jobsite and create as well. Stay tuned as I start this process on TH-cam as well. Great video man. Keep it up.

      Hey Shane - Thank you for watching and leaving the kind words man. I appreciate that, and it goes a long way on here. I can relate to your creative desire, too. I just want to make things that I enjoy. That sounds like a great plan. I'm still figuring out this TH-cam thing - I've only posted about once or twice a year at this point, but I'm hoping to do that more. I've filmed the last seven or eight pieces I've made, but haven't taken the time to edit. Time to get to work.

    The white pencil on the edge, was that you using the pencil as a visual reminder for the direction of the grain? If so, that's very cool.
